Davidlier, am sure your insanity must have twisted your history, where were the jews before the war? i have jews as friends so i am not going into this with u , but get it that jews in diaspora did made that happen after gaining some political powers in some of their countries of resident.

you are mischevious and utterly incapable of understanding simple sentenses, i mentioned ethnic reasons which easily solves your Kano puzzle. Everyone on this thread knows who the hypocrites is -you. i dont blame you, u lack home training and on several occasions i have suggested u and your cohorts visit a shrink. Do you reason at all, u are just bent on demostrating your stupidity and your penchant for hatred towards the muslims. david if you the pikin of your father, go to Sudan and tell them they are wrong. What do you want?

For those who say Muslims have not tried in their condemnation, pls make suggestions, or do you think Nigerian Muslims for example should go over to Sudan and in a commando style free The teacher. This is more than blaming muslims, its everyones duty to see that the right approach to solving this problem is found, afterall it does not affaect Muslims only
Religion / Re: Teacher Arrested In Sudan Over A Bear Named Muhammad. by hafees: 12:13pm On Dec 04, 2007
The problem with some of the posts on this thread is that they are blinded with overwhelming emotions moving straight to abusing Islam. Again ppl have sent offending pictures saying this and that is Muhammed (one of pig) i think this is to the extreme and irresponsible, it is more like daring. Much as i do not care if anyone abuses Islam, i will not kill myself to try and satisfy them by saying Islam is bad because it is not bad, no matter how much evil tagging ppl on this trend have applied.

What i do not understand is despite the fact that no Muslim on this thread said the killings in the name of religion is right, ppl continue to overdo themselves in abusing Muslims. This is more of Race/ethnic way of thinking, nobody has ever heard of a Muslim from the Southern part of the country involved in such things or Muslims from UK or America or some other countries. Let me say that in Sudan they have been involved in war for a long time, and that is a premise to begin to see to their violence, the same can be said of Agfhanistan who have both gone into war with Russia then America. For Pakistan, the believe is they have been cheated by Isreal and the western powers of their land, so the response. All of this have more political undertone than religion, but religion is used to gain followership:the opium of the ppl. These things i have tried to explain by comparing it to the niger delta issues, if screaming of Alaluyah were employed by them during kidnapping or killings, are other christians suppose to be hanged or take bashings from Muslims. They can only Condemned the actions.

Nwando and the rest who attain orgasm when they are abusing Muslims, or posting offending pictures, i suggest u see a shrink. Thanks for calling me half sense, like i said before, one needs to be well trained at home to respect others view/situation. I am not doing this to make any one happy, like some ppl who want, i am just puting record straight. Islam whether you agree or not is a Religion of peace.

ALL THE HATERS CAN REST, NO GET HEART ATTACK

KHARTOUM, Sudan - A British teacher jailed for insulting Islam after allowing her students to name a teddy bear Muhammad was released Monday when Sudan's president pardoned her, a British Embassy spokesman said.

The teacher, Gillian Gibbons, said she did not intend to offend anyone and had great respect for Islam.

"She is in British Embassy custody and is with the deputy British ambassador," embassy spokesman Omar Daair said. He would not give her exact location or say when she would leave Sudan.

Gibbons, 54, was sentenced Thursday to 15 days in prison and deportation for insulting Islam because she allowed her students to name a class teddy bear Muhammad, seen as a reference to Islam's Prophet Muhammad. Her time in jail since her arrest Nov. 25 counted toward the sentence.

The teacher's conviction under Sudan's Islamic Sharia law shocked Britons and many Muslims worldwide. It also inflamed passions among many Sudanese, some of whom called for her execution.

Gibbons escaped harsher punishment that could have included up to 40 lashes, six months in prison and a fine.

Earlier Monday, President Omar al-Bashir pardoned Gibbons after two British Muslim politicians from the House of Lords met with him to plead for her release.

Lord Nazir Ahmed, who met with al-Bashir along with Baroness Sayeeda Warsi, said the case was an "unfortunate misunderstanding" and stressed that Britain respected Islam.

In a written statement released by the presidential palace and read by Warsi to reporters Monday, Gibbons said she was sorry if she caused any "distress."

"I have a great respect for the Islamic religion and would not knowingly offend anyone," Gibbons said in the statement. "I am looking forward to seeing my family and friends, but I am very sorry that I will be unable to return to Sudan."

Ghazi Saladdin, a senior presidential adviser, said al-Bashir insisted that Gibbons had a "fair trial," but he agreed to pardon her because of the efforts by the British Muslim delegation.

It was unclear when Gibbons would leave Sudan. Earlier Monday, Sudanese presidential spokesman Mahzoub Faidul told The Associated Press that Gibbons would "fly back to England today." However, travel agents in Sudan said the first European-bound flights would not leave Khartoum until early Tuesday.

During her trial, the weeping teacher said she had intended no harm. Her students, overwhelmingly Muslim, chose the name for the bear, and Muhammad is one of the most common names for men in the Arab world. Muslim scholars generally agree that intent is a key factor in determining if someone has violated Islamic rules against insulting the prophet.

The conviction shocked many Britons, but the case was caught up in the ideology that al-Bashir's Islamic regime has long instilled in Sudan, a mix of anti-colonialism, religious fundamentalism and a sense that the West is besieging Islam.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said he was delighted by news.

"Common sense has prevailed," Brown said in a statement released by his office.

The case also sparked criticism from many Muslims in the West who said she should have never been arrested. On Monday, Inayat Bunglawala, a spokesman for the Muslim Council of Britain, welcomed the pardon.

"It will be wonderful to see her back in the U.K. I am sure she will be welcomed by both Muslims and non-Muslims after her quite terrible ordeal at the hands of the Sudanese authorities," Bunglawala said.

There were concerns for Gibbons' safety in Sudan after thousands of Sudanese, many armed with clubs and swords and beating drums, burned pictures of her and demanded her execution during a rally in Khartoum on Friday. She was moved from the Omdurman women's prison to a secret location after the demonstrations against her, her lawyer said.

There was no overt sign that the government organized the protest, but such a rally could not have taken place without at least official assent.

Sudan's ambassador in London, Khalid al-Mubarak, insisted Monday that the demonstrations "were an argument from the fringe."

@seun: if many Muslims bear Muhammed, its because the name is special, so abuse of such name close to a muslim heart should not be abused. A mad man can bear Muhammed, but certainly he not ma when he was being named.

@fufu: u have dispalyed the highest sense of immaturity and stupidity. Like i said haters should not stop, continue to show your silliness and stupidity.

When will you allow it into ur thick skulls that not all Muslims supports her incarceration/execution, she's not a muslim therefore the sharia will not be apply on her. No one is giving any excuse, what i am saying particularly is that lok at issues whoistically

Nwando it is certain you will be the one to die in vain. Its quite easy for u to lie, second nature i guess. u are always quick to say u are misquoted. If its so much worry u, why dont you go over to Sudan and address them. Why you at it, invite david too, i will be willing to pay for your flights. For David u can play all pranks in the book, Buhari indeed, it so childish!. For all the haters pls dont stop, u are welcome to show ur stupidity

If you are wondering why Muslims in the middle east are like that, wonder why Nigerias Niger Delta is the same way, when ppl fight back you use the press to supress them. Give a dog a bad name to hang it.

For Nwando Nwando who do u think u are: no one has the time to prove that the mosque is extension of this or that.
Politics / Would You Like A Us Military Base Hq In Nigeria by hafees: 5:58pm On Nov 30, 2007
The United States Government on Thursday said that the controversial US Africa Command, also known as AFRICOM, would not undermine the sovereignty of Nigeria and other host African countries.

The Deputy Commander, Civil-Military Activities, US Africa Command, Ambassador Mary Yates, and Deputy Commander, Military Operations of the command, Vice Admiral Robert Moeller, said this at a press briefing in Abuja.

AFRICOM is a new US military headquarters the American Government planned to devote solely for Africa .

Unlike traditional unified commands, the US said that the AFRICOM would focus on war prevention rather than war-fighting.

The outfit will also work with African nations and organisations to build regional security and crisis-response capacity in support of its efforts in Africa .

Despite extensive lobby by the US Government for African countries to support the command, Nigeria openly opposed the establishment of such command in the country.

The issue was also tabled at the Council of State meeting two weeks ago, where the country’s leaders foreclosed the idea of allowing the US to use the nation as an operational base.

But Liberia was said to have been lobbying the US to establish the headquarters of the command in Monrovia.

Yates and Moeller, however, said that they were in the country to consult with top government and military officials in order to clear some misconceptions about the command.

Yates added that in the course of their consultation in the country, they spoke with the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Owoye Azazi, National Security Adviser, Maj.-Gen. Abdullahi Muktar (rtd), Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chief Ojo Maduekwe, and President, ECOWAS Commission, Dr. Ibn Chambers on Wednesday.

She added that after listening to the government and military officials, they felt that it would have been better if they were in the country and other parts of the continent sooner than they did.

I WOULD LIKE NAIRALANDERS RESPONSE ON WHETHER US MILITARY BASE SHOULD BE LOCATED IN NIGERIA OR AFRICA

David, i am not on this forum to trade insults with you, again i have my own angle of looking at issues which i have rights to, why should you try to force ppl to see issues only from ur own perspective. I never asked you to beleive the example i gave, and it is irresponsible of you to insinuate that i am being dishonest. I know the likes of you:holier than thou, who would worse things than the CNN's have advertised about Islam. No one said the woman should be punished. I know your hatred for Islam has constantly made all ur postings illogical and spiteful. I would like to have David's and Nwando's take on the invasions of Iraq.
Religion / Re: Teacher Arrested In Sudan Over A Bear Named Muhammad. by hafees: 5:46pm On Nov 29, 2007
There is no doubt that there is a case of over reactions by some Muslims, the same way we have in Christianity. I remember a time one Wacko born again christian use to show up infront of the mosque every prayer time screaming you must be born again. He was tolerated for some time until actions needed to be taken, that is forcefully removing him from disturbing the congregrational prayer.

Well for the sake percifying the christians i hope the woman would be released. But i must add that this reaction is a result of some kind of build up, whether any one agrees or not. for example the invasion of Islamic countries with the disguise of terrorism or nuclear weapon. This invaders eg America are predominantly Christian countries but not so named as christain countries. Another Scenerio is that of American soldiers removing hijabs from Muslims girls during their stay in Saudi Arabia. i Will say we should to respect one anothers religion and abstain from the smallest of things that can generate provocations.

Alex why dont u address the poster only instead of delving into ethnic and geopolitical zones insults. Pls be more reasonable next time.

For the poster, if you are waiting for somebody to pat your back, you will wait for ever, what you have done is simply wrong, but the good thing is you can still correct this horrendous situation. A girl of 14/15 shld not be having sex, and a man of 31 should have no business having sex with her.If it happens she gets the V V F situation, God forbids, do have the finances to help her life. A word is enough for the wise, wait for this girl if u really love her and she's not just for sexual recreations
Romance / Re: I Love Her But She's Already In A Relationship by hafees: 10:15am On Nov 23, 2007
I want to see this issue from another perspective instead of the no bending the relationship angle. The truth is many women stay in relationship even if its bad so that they can have security especially as late twenties and thirties come calling, they are afraid of being spinsters for ever. so they dont go until some other guys come around, i dated 3 girls b4 marriage and non them were free at the time. go for it man, if the girl feels the same way as you, nobody knows if the other guy is a brute. That the relationship is not tight is evident in the fact that her friend suggest the relationship is bendable!
Romance / Re: Romance With My Subordinate? (I'm Married) by hafees: 5:40pm On Nov 22, 2007
My brother, no marriage is perfect, since u said she's not so hot about sex/romance, just try and teach her, cus some women even find sex painful and unenjoyable. for lack of romance, i dont know the no of children u guys have, its may be too much to cope with them, house chores and then satisfying oga. take her out som time where u can see couples necking or holding hands, so that she can see what she's missing. better still try create a gud environment inside the house, play love songs, buy her suprise stuffs coming back from work, make her special on her birth day, am sure she would yield.

u never can tell maybe u shld also work on ur love making stunts, when some women are not satisfied they may not want to 'waste' their time doing it. have you ever made her ask for more, you need to work, grap herbehind in the kitchen, kiss her at the slightest opportunity, say nice things to her, all women love it. she would change and i bet you will have a wonderful home, i started this 2 yrs ago and its working wonderfully. you can imagine now why my wife wants to get our daughter to bed earlie now. much depends on you. Good luck.
Islam for Muslims / Re: Why Do Muslim Guys Prefer To Date Christians Girls? by hafees: 4:54pm On Nov 22, 2007
its a pity david and nwando are alreading breeding offsprings of hatred, this is very evident in focused and skyone submissions. many of you guys know nothing about Prophet Muhammed but its easy for you to say all sorts of bad things about him. you all are regurgitating what you have been fed by ppl who want to continue to manipulate so that their 10 percent can be sure every month. what can you say about all the fakes miracles we witnessed or pastors who join the occultic to pull crowd. the connection of the moon to islam is merely to count months, you will all agree it is natural way to follow months correctly. again facing the kaaba in mecca is a sign that we are homogenous.

without talking too much, the likes of david and nwando will be suprised when finally on the day of resurrection they find out that that all roads lead to hell fire for them. the need to prove you are right and others are wrong should not drive you to fabricate , misquote or misguide other nairalanders. i would like to ask them the folowing questions? does jesus christ know there is something like the bible or even christianity cus there is no evidence of his endorsement.

finally, i want to say that regardless of all the negativity Islam is a peaceful religion. for all the hymen reconstruction noise ppl are making, there is no place in the Quaran where it was ordained, so pls stop wasting ur time.

@nazzyon, point of correction children of 7 dont fast in Islam, it is only at puberty that it becomes compulsoty, children are only encouraged to do it between 5:30 and 12 noon. which is not much.

Now i dont see why some xtians should think the reason for the post is to just give their religion a bad name, it just goes to confirm that in every religion/groups they are always bad eggs, just like the 'terrorism issues in Islam'.

i would like to get Nwando and david's take on this issue, they seems to be the present day crusaders

@Nwando & Pmdaboh,

Guys u are taking things to the extreme, Daboh the gramarian, i hope its not a bad idea for a writer  to measure opinion to spice a work he is currently working on. For a female u are far way too beligerent your ladyship pls u can breath easy now. you will notice i refuse to insult you, it comes with my upbringing.

For Nwando, the man without any iota of patience and with a venom of response, u can rest your case. whether my scenerios are real or not, the truth is my write up has elicited diverse responses that i desire, and the fact that u said it sounds like the story of my life makes me happy, it just further confirms that i am good at this genre and i have added a new fan. Like i said, more of these situations will come, lets see how we can put our brain to use instead of our emotions.

once again thank you, hoping to see more response
Islam for Muslims / Re: Why Do Muslim Guys Prefer To Date Christians Girls? by hafees: 5:30pm On Nov 20, 2007
I know Davidlier is sick and pls leave him alone, do not aggravate the frustrations of a would be hitler. when ppl talk about terrorism they forgot it came up first as a means of proetecting themselves. what do u say to the invasion of afghanistan, iraq, and intending one for iran, is it because Bush did not scream Halleluyah before the tanks starts rolling or the bullets starts turning young children to orphans , wives to widower and wipping out families and generations in the name of what. i hope david knows about the crusaders, if he is educated to such extent. what do you want Arabs and muslims to do/ take lying down or defend themselves with the small means at their grasps. No matter how hurrendous you see the things, the international community must stand up against countries like America who go into other ppls countries and massacre them.

back to the topic: the only Muslim guys who marry Christians are muslims by names because they can not actually stand learned sisters who would always caution them. Beside, Muslim or Xtian woman, is your marriage a happy one, and are u glad you married that person?

finally when next david wants to air any of his uneducated and myopic issues about Islam and Muslims, please ignore. Do not fuel the ranting of a mad man
Family / Re: How Do I Leave The Mother Of My Baby? by hafees: 4:23pm On Nov 20, 2007
Now i started this trend to check the analytical capabilities of  Nigerians, but i must say many ppl have disapointed me. i could only obeserve venting of anger and curses instead of advice or seeking a way to support the imaginary individuals involved, we may all not have gone for training in counselling, but we should know how to look into issues and xray them. only Dorcas and Jintujinta can actually 'think through', and that excites me, even Seun the moderator disapointed me!

Now for the sake of argument, nobody thought the fact that the girl could have used the preganancy to tie him down, that however is not to say he has rights to even touch her! Pls check Dorcas and Jintujinta postings this is just a painted scenerio, i will post more to see how logical and unemotional, but analytical Nigerians can be.  Never attack people first before u actually know the situation sorrounding them. Good luck everybody!

most postings on this topic are un informed and are predicated on rumours. do u think kennis is running a charity oragnization? what many ppl dont understand is that promoting an artiste to an international level like 2face takes a lot, media tour, winning awards(its lot of politics) why is nigeria not winning cora before now or others like mobo etc because now those guys have woken up every one. they dont deserve all the bad names they/ve been call, every one knew what they did with the industry, turn it around. point of correction a recording company pays all the expenses to get an album out and promote, so they also have rights to take part of the money. do u think 2face will make the kind of money he's making now if not for them, is not better to be 'cheated' making N100 than making 10k not cheated. pls 2face is no fool, he knows what is good for him. for all the bad belle ppl of kennis, i say they know the game and pls give due credit to them tongue tongue tongue tongue

Just like in many trades 'writer get grades', so what you pay depends on the pedigree of the writer, similarly the kind of money you are ready to spend will determine the kind of writers you will get, gabage in gabage out. Seun let me advise that Once you dont have good scripts , it would be dificult to have a good production, thats talking from the angle of quality and production style.Having said all these, i think some of the people giving Seun advise to pay 10k should know that it is peanut, considering what the writer have to do: think up an intresting story line, write out the scenerios, and do the dialogue, minus typing till your hands and fingers hurt, and your eyes watering from looking at the screen for a long time. nothing

TV/Movies / Re: Writers On Strike In Hollywood by hafees: 12:49pm On Nov 09, 2007
writing is an engagement that tasks all your faculties, and those who engage in it should be adequately compensated. with out a script people should realise that there would be no production, what would the artiste act out or the director direct!

Nigerian writers should learn from what is happening over there in hollywood and begin to fight for their rights instead of being treated like the lazy or the unimportant sector of the production/film/television industry.

it is a known fact that writers are owned huge amount of money and that production people dont want to pay you until the script has been done and you probably see it on air accidentally, right here we are not even asking for percentage on viewership, distribution etc, but just to get the money for your sweat.

in any case i would advise writers not be desperate and to have a sense of worth, it is how you present yourself they will treat you. Always remember that without you there can be no them

pls i nid ur advice fellow nairalanders: suppose you impregnated a girl while she's still in school, making her drp out. till she had her baby you refused to agree you own the pregnancy, making her go through lots of stress. finally you went to her parent because she left lagos for village for a year and you need to see ur baby where they are staying. she's back in lagos after disturbing her, but the catch is you dont love her even though she's very pretty.

again you are a graduate , while she's a secondary school drop out who sometimes misfires grammar, can not read properly nor write. she's however very nice though with typical women problem. the catch in she comes in weekend to stay, and do the you know, my parents like her now and i dont want her anymore. already i have sent her to a fashion design institute to learn. both our religion and tribe are different, she's not also coping well with her new religion. i have hurt her many times, i cant bare to do it again. how do i let her go without hurting her again.
