paradisewoods:

are you sure the visa type is PBS tier 4 appointment or just standard appointment?

Oh my bad! I thought I had selected PBS Tier 4 cos I was kind of frustrated that there's no option to Select Abuja from my application. Forgive the false alarm. angry

paradisewoods: Please help me, my 28 days is over and I have completed my online application, I tried booking appointment at Ikeja ,under visa type I chose PBS tier 4 and the earliest date for that is 28th of august. should I just choose standard appointment instead of PBS tier 4 because the earliest date for standard appointment is 19th August. Please I cant wait till 28th August because my school is resuming soon. Pls help

I just checked available dates for Ikeja again just now and surprisingly 19th of August onwards became available, no restriction. I advise you book your appointment immediately before it changes again!

Kenyata: Please, is it true that someone can get admission to the UK and then abandon schooling for work during the duration of the visa granted?

No it's not true cos if you attempt it you could be easily caught & deported.

I just tried checking available dates for visa appointment in Abuja but shockingly only Lagos was the option in the "Region" field, no Abuja. Is it because I filled in Lagos as my contact address?? If so let me quickly look for a way to cancel this application and start another.

To the veterans of this thread your thoughts please!

Hmmm with this recent talk of difficulty in securing early Visa appointment at Ikeja I think Abuja is the way forward.

Make I jeje-ly book 3 days return flight for the 29th day of my bank account maturity now now to avoid gnashing of teeth grin instead of me doing penny wise pound foolish to save £150 flight fare.

I have to be airborne Lagos-London latest 27th September by God's special grace and favour.

justwise:

This post ^^ answers your question, don't copy and paste the payment email from the school, print it out directly from your inbox (very important) because it will carry all verifiable details.

Thank you very much boss! I intended printing it out as you've advised.

muami: I will STRONGLY advice you to follow the advice of your school's international student support officer. The Tier 4 Policy Guidance is VERY CLEAR about the type of receipt required. Email confirmation DOES NOT fail within the definition. For ease of reference, this is what the guidance states:

"If your Tier 4 sponsor has not included details of the money you have already paid on your CAS, you must send an original paper receipt issued by your UK Tier 4 sponsor confirming that you have paid:
• all of your fees; or
• the amount that you have paid."

Thanks for the response chief! I'm grateful.

I totally get your point about what the guideline states about submitting only original paper receipt, my confusion was what qualifies as original paper receipt considering no school in the UK actually issues hardcopy paper receipts except you make such a payment physically on site. That's why I thought I enquire here to know if a print out of the payment confirmation from the school which is basically a soft copy receipt will be accepted.

DonOms:

If the payment confirmation is sent directly from your school's official email, and if your name is clearly written as the payer, together with amount paid towards accommodation, then it should be alright to use the email. However, note that the maximum money you can show towards accomm. is £1020.

Yes the payment confirmation was sent directly from my school's official accommodation email showing my name, amount paid and payment reference number. The amount I paid is well within that £1,020.

Thank you very much Don! You are triple much!

Bambamzzzz:

from the post i have seen here too even some abuja peeps got an email 5 days after submission because i just checked ticket now and return is 22k and am definately sure the parcel will get to the BHC the following day since its in abuja.
As for me the approval email will help alot so that i can book ticket while i wait for passport to reach me. your opinion pls

I think you should go the Abuja route then, considering you are re-applying and will want to get your visa ASAP. I'm now considering the Abuja route too but will decide when my account statement matures (I'm on my 7th day)

Bambamzzzz:

Because i think once you applied in abuja then you should receive email within 7 days if the visa is approved or not.am i right or wrong?

From posts I've seen here from peeps that applied in Abuja they almost always get feedback from UKBA within the said 7 days but I don't think it applies to all applications.

Yes o,because abuja people always get approval email while lagos people dont get that email

Abi.....but the wahala now is that I'm not sure I'm willing to part with at least £100 naira equivalent to fly to Abuja, you know every penny is essential for use in the UK grin.

Good evening my people!

Have a quick question....So I contacted an International student support officer at my school concerning some unclear questions on the Tier 4 application form. Below is an excerpt from her reply email

Have any of your course fees been paid?
Yes - Paid to UK Education Provider

Have any of your accommodation fees been paid to your sponsor?
No – we do not include this amount on the CAS

Do you have any remaining fees or maintenance still due for payment?
Yes – You will need to show maintenance of £7,380

My question - Can I use the payment confirmation email for accommodation deposit as Original or Official receipt in my application since it isn't stated on my CAS and select "Yes" to the accommodation payment question on the form instead of what was advised by the support officer?

@justwise please your million dollar advice is needed.

Wow congrats to you and your wife! Wish I could apply at Abuja since they are pretty damn fast.

NairaMinted: TEN QUESTIONS FOR THE UKRAINIAN AUTHORITIES

1. Immediately after the tragedy, the Ukrainian authorities, naturally, blamed it on the self-defense forces. What are these accusations based on?

2. Can Kiev explain in detail how it uses Buk missile launchers in the conflict zone? And why were these systems deployed there in the first place, seeing as the self-defense forces don’t have any planes?

3. Why are the Ukrainian authorities not doing anything to set up an international commission? When will such a commission begin its work?

4. Would the Ukrainian Armed Forces be willing to let international investigators see the inventory of their air-to-air and surface-to-air missiles, including those used in SAM launchers?

5. Will the international commission have access to tracking data from reliable sources regarding the movements of Ukrainian warplanes on the day of the tragedy?

6. Why did Ukrainian air traffic controllers allow the plane to deviate from the regular route to the north, towards “the anti-terrorist operation zone”?

7. Why was airspace over the warzone not closed for civilian flights, especially since the area was not entirely covered by radar navigation systems?

8. How can official Kiev comment on reports in the social media, allegedly by a Spanish air traffic controller who works in Ukraine, that there were two Ukrainian military planes flying alongside the Boeing 777 over Ukrainian territory?

9. Why did Ukraine’s Security Service start working with the recordings of communications between Ukrainian air traffic controllers and the Boeing crew and with the data storage systems from Ukrainian radars without waiting for international investigators?

10. What lessons has Ukraine learned from a similar incident in 2001, when a Russian Tu-154 crashed into the Black Sea? Back then, the Ukrainian authorities denied any involvement on the part of Ukraine’s Armed Forces until irrefutable evidence proved official Kiev to be guilty.

Thought provoking questions that give an interesting dimension to what really transpired. Nice one bro.

There's really more to this than meets the eye. This could probably be a deliberate conspiracy by the Ukrainian authorities & their backers to frame up the separatists & Russia, but still it's just a hypothesis.
Foreign Affairs / Re: Malaysian Passenger Plane Shot Down In Donetsk By Ground To Air Missile by HudsonBanks(m): 1:27pm On Jul 18, 2014
First thought that brewed in my head when I heard the news about this Malaysian Airlines MH17 was "Holy smokes! The Americans/NATO have succeeded in infiltrating the Russian military ranks either by bribe or other means to completely discredit Putin & the Russian federation by shooting down this civilian Aircraft"

Don't blame me for thinking that way, it's no news how given the right amount of money you can convince a Russian General to sell you a Tank and also the extent to which the USA can go to achieve their agenda via proxy e.g NATO, CIA etc. Corruption remains the Achilles heel of Russia and it's only natural for them Capitalists to "capitalize" on that.

That being said, the call intercept being circulated by the Ukrainian authorities (if actually credible) directly points to the separatists who MISTAKENLY shot down MH17 thinking it was a military AN-26 transport aircraft. If this is actually true, it's a big blow on Russia because it simply means they have no professional control over their creation as they are reportedly running things via Secret service.

But then again it beats me how the separatists easily captured the said BUK anti-air Missile system and automatically had the technical know how + supporting equipment to carry out such a complicated & precision-Laden operation. This again points to my initial Capitalists infiltration postulation or a different scenario of Russian service men being among the separatists.

With all that said, it's so painful to see that the lives of almost 300 innocent people who looked forward to a brighter day was wasted as a result of power tussle & unnecessarily stupid politics! RIP to the dead.

Hmm a well planned script being played out to enable the Speaker of the house take over as acting governor if Nyako is finally impeached.

That the deputy governor is a PDP member doesn't prove the PDP doesn't have a hand in the impeachment, it only proves that certain agreements have been made behind the curtains.

Observing with keen interest.

Politics / Re: GEJ, Swallow Your Pride And Allow UN/US Fighter Jets To Bombard Sambissa by HudsonBanks(m): 12:22pm On Jul 15, 2014
OP in as much as I agree with you that what the war on terror urgently needs in the northeast is Aerial cover for the gallant men of the NA, I personally don't think having the US or other world powers involved in direct military action is wise in the long run.

In as much as these world powers preach world peace and all that, there's always an alterior motive behind their offer of assistance, a price to be won. So we should be careful what we wish for.

My suggestion will be a complete revamp and restructuring of NAF with aggressive hardware procurement which includes fighter Jets, gunships & more, so they can provide the very important aerial support the NA is in dire need for. We have the wherewithal to do this if not for some overfed thieving politicians and bad eggs in the military only concerned about adding more zeros to their bank accounts.
