Not far from the truth. It won't be easy for Mark to defeat GEJ at the PDP primary. GEJ and Mark have many good candidates to contend with at the primary. When the time comes all of us will know the true owners of PDP Nigeria Ltd.

Politics / Police Arrest Cow For Murder In Ogun by inaluf: 5:08pm On Apr 30, 2013
The police at Sango Ota, Ogun State, southwest Nigeria, have arrested a cow following the killing of a 24-year old teenager identified as Azeez Salako at Ilata area of Ota, a suburb of Ogun State.

P.M.NEWS gathered that youths in Ilata Ota were planning to hold a carnival on Saturday 27 April, 2013 and there was an argument between some of the youths which led to a fight and one of the boys identified as Dayo broke a bottle which he used to stab Salako in the neck and he bled to death.
When the police arrived at the scene of the fracas everyone had fled leaving behind the cow bought for slaughter during the carnival and the police arrested the cow and took it to the station where it is currently being detained. When P.M.NEWS visited Sango Area Command where the incident was reported, both the Area Commander ACP Titi Kayode and the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Sango Division CSP Dibie were not available for comment. However, a source at the station who confirmed the incident on condition of anonymity said the suspected killer is on the run as no arrest has been made.

“Both the Area Commander and the DPO are not around now. We are still investigating the matter as no arrest has been made. The person who was alleged to have stabbed the deceased is on the run. It is only the cow the youths wanted to use for the carnival that was brought from the scene,” said the source.

Gbawe:

He is only spending 10 years in jail because his sentences for all charges run concurrent to the highest single sentence received and even the article points this out clearly. Also, "stealing" was not his only offence. He faced 6 charges in total to include some charges for serious crimes related to the theft of the phone. Add to all that the fact that this is a repeat offender who had previously served a 6-year sentence for a conviction linked with murder. The legal proviso consequent upon his release is "go and sin no more". He has offended again.

Ok,it is cleared now.

Politics / Re: Chief Servant Governor (talba) Indeed; The Niger State Question by inaluf: 7:44am On Apr 30, 2013
@OP,

Suleja - Minna road belongs to the federal government and not Niger State. You can't expect the State to bear the burden of the federal government with their meagre resources. Niger State has the largest land mass in Nigeria and you should know that the state has the longest State roads in the country. I travel on that same road every week and i have not been happy with the work done so far by the contsruction company. Nearly all the roads that link Niger State from other neighbouring states have not been or partially attended to by the federal government. Your complaints should go to Aso Rock.
On the Billboards, you are absolutely right that the state is full of billboards just like other states in Nigeria. I want you to know that the billboards were erected by well-wishers just like other states and not by Talba (The Chief Servants).Go to Lagos you will even see Fashola's pictures on waste disposal trucks.

If APC Survives One Year, Don’t Call Me Okupe, Presidential Aide Boasts

The Senior Special Assistant to President Goodluck Jonathan on Public Affairs, Dr. Doyin Okupe, on Tuesday described the merger of opposition political parties on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as a weak association that would crumble and disappear by 2014, one year before the next general election.

So confident is he of this that during a courtesy visit to THISDAY corporate offices in Lagos yesterday, he put his father’s name on the line.
“If they don’t crumble and disappear by 2014, don’t call me Okupe,” he bragged.

Okupe’s visit to THISDAY seemed to have been a public relations stunt that was carefully arranged either when the journalists went to lunch, or after Okupe had gagged them, because no professional asked him any questions following what seemed like a one-sided lecture.

The self-described “attack lion” of President Goodluck Jonathan dismissed the view that the merger would rout the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the next election, calling the forces behind it unserious people that are incapable of causing a major upset in national politics.

“Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Maj-Gen. Mohammadu Buhari are not serious-minded people; they are going round like people dancing in a market place,” he said, defiantly. “I expect that when you post an aggregate of people of that calibre who want to run government, by now they must have a policy statement on power, agriculture and employment and not just talking about PDP leaving.

"Is it by mouth that they will run the nation? These are not serious-minded people. Can someone get your vote by using word of mouth that PDP should leave without a policy?”

Okupe was hinging his political prediction on the projection that the president's joker, which is stable electricity, is attained by 2014, the opposition would be punctured and rendered ineffective.

Specifically dismissing Tinubu, he held that the ACN chieftain has ridden roughshod over the South-west, but that Nigeria is bigger than that.

“This is their first time out in national politics; alright, and let me give you some bad news: the relevance that ACN has in Nigerian politics is that they are a Yoruba party. That is what makes them relevant in politics and by dropping that toga, the party is dead.

"They have just formed an abyss; a formless abyss that the Yoruba cannot key into. The Yoruba have always been members of a regional organisation – Action Group (AG), Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN), etc. And in any case, what are the electoral credentials of ACN? How many states have they won that they are boasting?”

In a frontal assault that suggested that the PDP is wary of the possibilities open to the opposition, Okupe described the APC as a party that is consistently unable to produce a presidential candidate from within its rank and file, saying that for the 2015 election, they are planning to recruit the Speaer of the House, Tambuwal.

“What kind of political party is that and you are taking them seriously. It is a politically defective and weak organisation, and by coming to the national stage, the wind is going to blow them open. If they don’t crumble and disappear by 2014, don’t call me Okupe,” he said.

With reference to the power reform programme, he said that the problem with the National Integrated Power Projects (NIPPs) was the amount of money that was designated for it, stating that the money was not the type entrepreneurs in the country could aggregate.

“When Jonathan came, five major problems bedevilled the power sector,” he said. “One, there was low generation capacity. Two, was that the NIPPs, which required so much money, were abandoned. Three, even if they were working, they were located in places that were impossible for gas availability. Four, there was very poor transmission capacity and five, the indecisiveness involved in the privatisation exercise.

He said that within two years, the Jonathan administration solved four of those five problems. “The NIPPs – all of them are about 95 per cent complete and there is enough monitoring to ensure that this is done.”
He pointed out the outstanding challenge was transmission capacity which is currently being addressed by the federal government.

Okupe, who also sought partnership with the media, admitted that the Jonathan administration needed help to survive.
“That is the truth. I am not hiding it. There is no government that has been more assaulted in this country. I have come to see if we can build a platform to help the country and this government.

I am not saying that you should compromise your positions; I am just saying that you should give us the chance to clarify anything that you need to clarify.”

Okupe did not say anything about the corruption by which the PDP has grounded the country, and of which most of the key officials of both the government and the party are known to be guilty, or how they intend to persuade Nigerians in 2015 to allow them to continue.

Politics / Re: Jonathan, Okonjo-iweala Tip Aig-imoukhuede As Next CBN Governor by inaluf: 10:58am On Apr 24, 2013
AS the race on who succeeds the incumbent Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mallam Lamido Sanusi in June next year gets tougher, there are strong indications that the Presidency and key cabinet members of the administration may have settled for the Group Managing Director of Access Bank, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede.

Since Sanusi confirmed in March this year that he will not seek second term, various individuals have been jostling for the plum job.
Apart from Imoukhuede, Bauchi State Governor, Isa Yuguda; Chairman of Stanbic IBTC Bank, Atedo Peterside and a renowned economist and Chief Executive Officer, Financial Derivatives Company Limited, Mr Bismarck Rewane, among others, were speculated as frontline contestants.

Nigerian Tribune gathered that apart from the Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo- Iweala and Sanusi, President Goodluck Jonathan has given his full support to the Access Bank boss to clinch the job.

A source close to Imoukhuede confirmed to Nigerian Tribune that the coordinating Minister of the Economy and Mallam Sanusi actually sold the candidature of the Access Bank boss to President Jonathan.

With this development, President Jonathan may have dumped his kinsman, Peterside. The Stanbic IBTC Chairman was also said to rely heavily on Sanusi, a fellow Kings College old boy.

Industry watchers are not surprised at the present scenario as Imoukhuede has been the unofficial personal assistant to the incumbent CBN Governor. Apart from defending Sanusi’s policy at any given forum, he is said to have been understudying him in the last two years.
Imoukhuede who is a member of the Nigeria Economic Management Team (NEMT) is also believed to be a member of the ‘kitchen cabinet’ of President Jonathan which has seen him handling many committees including that of the fuel subsidy.

A financial analyst who pleaded anonymity told Nigerian Tribune that the industry is already expecting Imoukhuede to succeed Sanusi as the next CBN Governor.

According to him, over time, Sanusi has seen Imoukhuede as somebody he can trust and rely on, stressing that the duo are always together at every event.

“We will not be surprised. Imoukhuede is a brilliant young man. He knows what he wants and will always go for it. Apart from Sanusi, he is close to his colleagues and even the Presidency. I wish him good luck,” he said.

Politics / Jonathan, Okonjo-iweala Tip Aig-imoukhuede As Next CBN Governor by inaluf: 6:12pm On Apr 23, 2013
SaharaReporters has learned from sources close to President Goodluck Jonathan that Aigboje I. Aig-Imoukhuede, the controversial head of Access Bank Plc, has been tipped to succeed current Governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi at the helm of Nigeria’s Central Bank.

“If all goes as planned, Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede will become the next Governor of the Central Bank,” one of our sources said.

Mr. Aig-Imoukhuede, the Group Managing Director of Access Bank Plc, also enjoys the support of Nigeria’s Finance Minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, said one source.

The banker, whose closeness to both Mr. Jonathan and Ms.Okonjo-Iweala is well known, is regarded within Nigeria’s financial circles as a controversial figure who has remained unscathed because of his high-powered political contacts. Mr. Aig-Imoukhuede’s ties to Mr. Jonathan and Nigeria’s Finance Minister have helped him obscure his bank’s widespread and obscene involvement in the $6 billion oil subsidy scam that rocked Nigeria last year.

A top level Nigerian financial analyst with deep knowledge of the oil sector told SaharaReporters that Mr. Aig-Imoukhuedeand his bank “should have been on the hot seat over their role in the fuel subsidy fraud.” Instead, the analysts said, President Jonathan appointed the banker to a committee that enabled Mr. Aig-Imoukhuede and Access Bank to escape critical searchlight.

A source told SaharaReporters that current CBN governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, has expressed a desire not to seek a second term at the end of his current five-year tenure. Mr. Sanusi’s term as Nigeria’s current governor of the CBN is due toexpire in April, 2014.

Last year, President Jonathan appointed Mr. Aig Imoukhuede to chair a committee on fuel subsidies. The appointment helped the banker to cover up his bank's involvement in the oil subsidy scam
