BluMalam:
Hello, can anyone tell if it's advisable to add a recently conferred Msc. since the profile is editable again, or should I just leave it and upgrade if eventually appointed? Would it help or hurt my chances? Thanks.

The profile will not even allow you to add. MSc is not required for a GT role.

No timelines/deadines given on my admission letter nor on portal.

When is the latest for registration?
When does lecture start?
When can fees be paid?
What provision is made for accommodation?

Any one with answers?

By now, you know we are not waiting idly...we all have things to do, or at least should start thinking of things to keep body and soul together and progressing. It has not been easy being in the loop all these months. Not easy!

Now the question beckons...
How long do we wait after been waitlisted?

...Can't put it all here, but if I get this offer I'm chasing before the Q3 resumption, I'll reject the NLNG offer.

A smart and resourceful person shouldn't go through what they've put me/us through.

If they like take everybody, if they like take one person, na their business.

Very true. The anger is widespread. Don't let it make you make brash decisions though when the chips are down.

Romance / Re: How Does One Politely Turn Down A Crush From A Female ? by incredu: 2:40pm On Nov 09, 2015
I agree with you, EnlightenedSoul.

Though if a guy is already friends with the lady, and the lady wants him, then no. (5) can be harsh.

However, if it is safe to do so, by all means, get it over with quickly.

EnlightenedSoul:

@ Red Well, that's just it. You can't reject someone and be of comfort to them at the same time without sending mixed signals (thus counterintuitively encouraging their unwanted feelings).

You'll notice that every single one of those options barring number 5 engenders hope, reason I've been batting for the simple truth on this with OP. I've tried it all and more, and time and time I've found that its best for all parties involved if you just out with it. You're only keeping them from moving on sooner otherwise.

It's even funny he cares too much about any person's feelings. Sorry, you are not nutella - you can't please them all.

And I am not saying you shouldn't care a little. But what can you really do if someone loves you and you don't love them back? The rules are nearly the same if a guy asks a lady out, and she rejects him.

She can do one of 5 things:
1) sugarcoat the rejection. Says she sees him as a brother and all...friendzone!
2) tell him she's in another relationship already. Probably a lie.
3) tell him "let's see how things go...but we are not in a relationship"
4) just say..."u are a great guy BUT I don't want to be in a relationship at the moment"
5) Or blatantly say "no. I'm sorry, I can't."

Choose one!

EnlightenedSoul:

That's not a big deal. It's not even what I'd consider a full-blown rejection. Anyway, I'd avoid the person, and be short and brisk if and whenever I had to encounter them w/o being impolite. And try not to do anything to encourage them. They usually get the message. People aren't idi.ots.

We no longer trust APC. They are slow, denied promises earlier made, used the judiciary and are yet to deliver on a single democracy dividend in 6 months. #TarabaTribunal
Politics / Re: Taraba Judgement Clear Miscarriage Of Justice – Fayose by incredu: 9:53pm On Nov 07, 2015
This is really crazy! The APC has been stealing mandates via the courts since 2011. This one is the craziest of them all. A clear miscarriage of justice, with a crazy excuse of someone else's internal politics that INEC did not complain about. All tribunal cancellations of elections have been against PDP so far, including core PDP states like Akwa Ibom and Rivers, where the APC is hated!

APC is grabbing power through the back door, through the front door, through any door. Always supported them till now. Now, it's simply insane!

Hmmm... my way: play along, like them back and fade off the relationship over a few weeks. Nobody loses or hurts. We all just got busy and couldn't keep in touch.

NYSC / Re: Should The National Youth Service Corps (nysc) Scheme Be Reformed Or Scrapped? by incredu: 10:21am On Nov 06, 2015
First... I absolutely enjoyed my youth service. I served in a village as a secondary school in the North... started a business, helped my students, integrated into their society, swam in the stream, climbed their hills, made friends from all tribes, learnt some new skills, did some community devt programmes with other Corpers. NYSC served its purpose for me.

I was young, in my early 20's, with the whole world ahead of me. All the money and good jobs in front. This was all about service and adventure.

I still talk with and help out my students. Not a strand of regret!

A Prof once told me that we as a people need to learn to take small steps, instead of trying to get one big swoop. NYSC gets better every year. Allowee has even increased. Camp now includes Skills Acquisition.

My advice to people going for NYSC usually is "you are young; enjoy the moment; be philanthropic; u hv all the money to make in front after that".

Anybody that says it is easier to be unemployed while waiting should just resign from their jobs, and join the easier team.

The truth is that suffering is sometimes a forgeettable emotion. 2 years into NLNG, there is a risk we will forget how much grief this is causing.
