Quite an interesting debate here with a high level of intellectual sparring!

I see where the op is coming from (kudos to him for starting this debate) but not only are the statements that "it is a fallacy that that no knowledge is a wasted one" and that "I don't mean that you can't use the knowledge but the question is how often" both different and divergent, the op did not say exactly what kind of fallacy he is referring to which makes the summation somewhat ambiguous and bogus.

Knowledge is different from skill, learning something is different from mastering it and we are aware that it takes application of knowledge and investment of time to acquire skills, much more than it takes to gain new knowledge.

Knowledge can be seen as a compendium of information derived from a variety of sources, at different instances and use of different senses. Knowledge is gained formally or informally, directly or indirectly, actively or passively, consciously and subconsciously. For instance, by watching a television programme on wildlife I will learn something about them, by listening to a song from an album I will learn the lyrics and some insights about the songwriter's life experiences, by joining a cooking club I will learn the smell, the taste of different dishes and maybe how to prepare them. Do you think I will use you use all this knowledge in a lifetime? Maybe or maybe not. If I do use it, will I need to use it all the time? but should I consider the knowledge therefore wasted because I have not needed to use it at all or I don't need it all the time...not at all!

New knowledge builds on the fabric and framework of older knowledge...for instance you can read because you learnt the alphabet, you can do some arithmetic because you learnt to memorise some tables (2X1=2, 2X2=4...). Scientists have discovered that we learn and recall a lot of things by association, in order words information is not just stored in distinct areas of the brain but what you learn to do today needs to be connected with something you learnt in the past for it to be useful and memorable.

We all know that there are more books in the world and more information available that we may not imbibe even in a 1,000 lifetimes so it is impossible to attempt to know everything and that is not what the argument is about. Anything we do learn reinforces or realigns with what we learnt before and makes it easier to learn other things. For instance, I read sections of a geography textbook while I was in primary school (just the introduction). While I never went ahead to do geography in secondary school or beyond, the knowledge I gained from that book and the fascination of some statements (like it takes minutes for sunlight to get to the earth and years for the lights from the star to get to us...and that when you actually see a star you are really looking back in time) have stayed with me today and increased my understanding of the vastness of the universe in which we exist and live in.

No knowledge is a waste because every knowledge creates some foundation with which we can leverage on to know something else and creates associations with others that helps us better apply what we know. What you know helps you critically appraise any new knowledge you are faced in the passage of time.

No knowledge is a waste because it is not about whether it gets used actively/deliberately or not, it is about what the knowledge does to you...creating a deep sense of confidence which will make you comfortable (in the mind...and in the body i.e what you know can make you rich in wisdom and rich in finances if you know how to apply it).

No knowledge is a waste because what you know will shape what you become either consciously or subconsciously...and what you don't know can hurt you (e.g ebola).

I submit to you that the statement that "it is a fallacy that no knowledge is a wasted one" is itself a fallacy specifically a fallacy of hasty generalisation.

It doesn't count that we can't know everything but what we do allow ourselves to know will count someday or in someway to someone, somewhere...it's only a matter of time.

You think that knowledge or skill you have acquired is a waste because you are already in a position where the skill is not needed. What if you had find yourself in a position where that skill is needed would you have complained?

I learnt how to play musical instruments long before I became an accountant. Despite how tidious my job is I still enjoy playing musical instruments and I make a lot from it. Sometimes is all about passion and what you love doing not necessarily the monetary aspect.

Let me put it this way, the woman is there to assist the man and that is the essence of marriage. If the woman is working she MOST contribute her quota financially if not what will she be doing with the money she earns? Pile it up to take care of herself and her boyfriends?

No reasonable woman will argue this. And no reasonable man will like to make decision all alone in the family. However, the man can handle some of the capital expenditure in the family. Where he need the help of the woman he can ask for. But the re-current expenditures shouldn't be shared. This should be managed by the two of them.

Is not as if I don't like APC but the presence of Buhari in that party as a leader makes it sound suspicious. Am even tired of PDP itself. I will rather support Abubaka shakau to be the president of this country than support Buhari. What is he looking for at the presidency sit at his age. My advice to APC if they really want to be anywhere around the presidency is to choose any other person other than Buhari to represent them if not "una second name na sorry"

Am not a member of any of this parties. But checkout how PDP normally pick their candidates for any post at all. They make sure they pick someone that is most accepted by the masses. They carryout proper research before Picking anybody and that is why no matter how PDP is hatted in Nigeria their candidate will always comeout successful.

It was one Saturday evening in my siting room i was watching a program on NTA. there is this doctor, he is the owner of IRISH MEDICAL CENTRE located at Caterpillar bus/stop Ogba, Lagos.

They where interviewing him. So he was asked something about this virus (HIV/AIDS) he said it with boldness that HIV/AIDS IS NOT REAL and if any one said it is real, he should come out openly and proof it and that he is ready to offer 20 million Naira to the person.

So to my suprise up till now, no body has come out to challenge this doctor.

Well, To me I can't say Pastor T.B. Joshua is a Man of God or not, But people do criticize him due to the kind of miracles you does on TV program.

In the area of preaching, am a kind of person that like listening to sweet messages which pastor T.B Joshua has never offered to me before. but yet i did not see him as evil. But what i mean is that he did not have the world. Unlike Pastor Chris Oyahkilome, whose preaching i love so much. For your information, am not a member of any of this churches but to be frank i love pastor Chris preaching cus he is really preaching the world despite people also said he is evil but i can't believe them cus the man is really Teaching what is in the Bible.

As for Pastor T.B Joshua, the bible said "do not judge that thou will not be judged" so please lets leave it in the hands of the Almighty God. And even if you are a member of his church. I don't think you should go there because of the pastor, But you should go there because you want to serve your God and not Pastor T.B Joshua. But i believe at the last day we shall know who is who.

Well this one happened in a  village called Warri, in this village their commonest miss of transportation is by water (sheep).

so one day one of the sheep driver was loading his passanger, normally the fee is N20 for one person. so now, all the passangers has entered the sheep and the journey begin. after they might have gotten in the middle of the sea.

The driver said "Please hold your N200 Change Oh, I no get Change oh"
All the passangers now shouted "wati, is it not N20 that we are paying, how come you now jump to N200 abi u bi tiff?.
The driver replied " I no beg anybody, if you no get your N200 Make you come down now"

Well, I don't think there is any thing wrong for a girl going for the guy she likes. Since there is this saying that "what a man can do, a woman can do better" so i feel that, the confidence that a man have to met a girl and talk to her, i believe females to should have that confidence too to approach the guy of there choice. But it must be be done it their own ways.

For instance, a girl can not just see a guy moving on the street and she start calling her and asking him she love him is not suppose to be so. it must have to be done with brain. and most be some one you have known for some time.

Secondly, you can go for a guy you love through your ways of dealing with him. through you characters to him. I mean the way you act with guy will always convince him that you love him.

I have seen quit some number of girls that have approached me that way. They go as far as buying me somethings i wouldn't expect they would do. i mean they act kindly to me and that made me know they are interested. So i simply continue with the game. I just ask them is "hope you don't have a guy"

Really girls are fun of that but we guys call for it. I will tell you a story about a girl i met in an exam centre during the Jamb examination.

I met this girl just once at the exam centre. On that very day this girl was stranded she has no money to transport her home, so she talk to me and i agreed to assist her. When we got to the bus/stop she was going to stop, I collected her number and she collected mine. After some days, she stated sending me different kinds of text messages every day. and i must tell you, the contents in those messages always blow my head that pushed me to text her back telling her that i love her and am very proud of her.

After some days she sent me another text message telling me that she want something from me. I text her back asking her what she want. she text back and said she wanted a cell phone. so i gave her a promise that i will buy her a phone next week. the next day my phone was stolen both the Sim card and every no. in it was lost. so i couldn't contact her again. so i tried to retrieve my line back. after i retrieve the line the next text i received from her was "Inno, i am hungry can u please send me a N500 recharge can". she did not even ask of the phone or why have my number not been reachable. so i simply did not respond to her anymore
