Sports / Arsenal Bottles The League by jagtinic: 11:41pm On May 20, 2023
Despite a remarkable season, Arsenal unfortunately concluded their campaign without clinching any trophies. Looking forward, when recounting the events of the next decade, Arsenal fans will likely remember this season with mixed emotions and a sense of missed opportunity. It undoubtedly feels like a significant waste of their team's potential.

The season itself was filled with moments of brilliance and promise, as Arsenal displayed a scintillating brand of football that thrilled their loyal supporters. Their attacking prowess, slick passing, and mesmerizing goals captivated fans and pundits alike. The team's young talents shone brightly, raising hopes for a prosperous future.

However, despite their impressive performances, Arsenal fell short in crucial moments that ultimately denied them silverware. Close defeats in important matches and unfortunate injuries at crucial times marred their progress. It was a season where Arsenal demonstrated their potential, but were unable to convert it into tangible success.

For Arsenal fans, this season will likely be remembered as a bittersweet chapter in their club's history. While the team showcased their immense capabilities and entertained supporters, the lack of trophies will be an undeniable absence when their accomplishments are recounted. The disappointment of not lifting silverware will serve as a reminder of the untapped potential and missed opportunities that defined the season.

Nonetheless, Arsenal fans remain hopeful for the future. They believe that the lessons learned from this trophyless season will serve as a catalyst for growth and motivate the team to strive for greater success in the years to come. The loyal and passionate Arsenal fanbase will continue to stand by their team, eagerly anticipating the next chapter in their quest for glory.
Politics / Re: Constitution Amendment: President Must Nominate Ministers Within 60 Days by jagtinic: 10:32am On Mar 18, 2023
While it would be nice for states to control their resources, power generation, distribution and transmission can be achieved by partnering with the private sector. The monies some state expend on airports and other non-viable projects can be put into this partnership. The state governors have no excuse. They should be able to attract investment.

N3TRAL:
Transferring items like control of railway and generation of electricity from the exclusive list to the concurrent list to be under the legislative competence of the House of Assembly of States without granting them control of their mineral resources and other sources of revenue, like seaports, is like putting dirty clothes and detergent in a washing machine without water and expecting clean clothes as the outcome of the process.

States like Lagos already control their railway. They can afford electricity generation. Imo cannot afford that without controlling its gas deposits or borrowing heavily. We know how much Buhari and Rotimi Amaechi borrowed to fund rail projects. Imagine such debt on states 😂

Akwa Ibom and Port Harcourt need to control their oil and gas deposits to avoid excessive borrowing to fund the projects. Zamfara needs to control its gold. Will Abia State, Ebonyi State or Kebbi State afford railway and electricity generation with the monthly allocation given to them?

The recent alteration will only increase the debt profile of States. The most important alteration to the CFRN 1999 required in Nigeria is for States to donate what they earn from their resources to the Federal Government instead of the Federal Government donating monthly stipends in form of allocation to states. It will promote healthy competition, innovation and hard work.

My state is one of the richest states though. We'll hold Sim/Ngozi accountable.

Religion / What Is The Weirdest Situation/place You Have Been Preached To? by jagtinic: 9:31am On Jan 22, 2023
I remember some years back, my former girlfriend was always trying to make me go to church more (I used to go once in a while). We stayed in different states so it was more of calls.

I went visiting to her state and on the first day of visit (first time we saw physically), hormones set in. Keep in mind I am a guy that usually never starts a sexual move. I only do those things that shows that that is in view. I like the woman to take the initiative.

After she took the initiative and I was underneath her, she started preaching to me to give my life to Christ.

She told me how God loves me, how life will be better if I always do the will of God.

In my mind I was wondering, if I decided to do the will of God, then I won't be getting ridden the way I was and enjoying it.

Readers, have you ever been preached to in a place/situation that looks and seems weird. Basically a paradox.

What ratings was used. I believe a former minister knows the inner workings of government. To come out as a former minister and say information in public is what she bases her choice on is deceptive to say the least. She should have given us info as a former insider.

Business / Buying Less Than A Litre Of Petrol For More by jagtinic: 8:43am On Dec 10, 2022
It is disheartening that despite the economic situation in the land, some petrol station (due to scarcity that rest squarely on NNPCPLC) will sell petrol for about 280-350 which is well over the normal price.

What is even more vile is the fact some have adjusted their meters to sell less than a litre. Meaning one is paying more for less. This shows the level of wickedness in the land.

I remember some years ago, I bought fuel at a filling station along the Lekki-Epe expressway. I bought an amount that would have filled my tank then and I zoomed off. After a while I looked at the dash board and lo and behold my fuel gauge was about half tank. I felt maybe the gauge was malfunctioning until I spoke with my brother that stays in the neighborhood. And he mentioned that I should not have bought there, that they were notorious for adjusting their meter.

If they are notorious, how come they are still operational. Meaning the regulators "collect" and look away.

Many years after same still happens and it seems little or nothing is being done to stop it. We only hear of DPR going to a station, confirming they sell below the litre and life goes on without somebody going to jail for fraud. I believe we see it as normal. Apart from fines there should be jail time for doing such.

I believe if we have to list names of filling stations we will have a laundry list.

Seriously this needs to be checked.
Business / Re: CBN Cashless Policy Is Good For POS Business by jagtinic: 7:37pm On Dec 07, 2022
Nobody needs 20k for normal tansportation except you are travelling by air or long distance in which case the transport company can accept payment via other means. For the everyday things, the cash will suffice. If you have to buy fuel, you can use POS for payment.

gibsonwales:
POS operators will run out of business soonest..... cos how will the POS operator withdraw bulk cash from the bank if his/her limit is 20k/day and 100k/week, even if he has multiple accounts ?? Before now, limit is 150-200k/day on ATM and 1-5m over the counter. People still need to carry cash to pay for t-fare, buy foodstuffs at the market, give to child/children to take to school...e.t.c
Business / Re: CBN Cashless Policy Is Good For POS Business by jagtinic: 7:35pm On Dec 07, 2022
Why will someone want to go to POS to transfer when you can do it on your phone. Most people that uses POS uses it for cash, either for deposit or withdrawal. Even the transfer they do they collect cash to transfer.

thebosstrevor1:

Let me explain

If you are going to make payment through the pos for lets say school fee.

the POS operators deduct the school fees plus commission from your atm, he doesnt have to deal with cash.

Also If a POS operator wants to deal with cash, he can also hoard money( save money) and dispense out to those who want withdrawal for a fee

obailala:
I dont care who Imran is or what happened to him and I'm not sure why you're obsessed with Imran. I just told you who Obi is and what he's capable of doing.

Besides, are you suggesting I should vote in compromised individyals because I'm worried a devilishly greedy assembly will try to frustrate Obi? What sort of counterintuitive logic would that be?

Do you know Imran Khan?

obailala:
He did the same in Anambra. He had no member in the HOA and the members were all against him at the start, but guess what? He prevailed!

As a leader, once your decisions and policies are popular with the people, the legislators will be forced to align with the popular policies. If you doubt this, once again, go and ask about what happened in Anambra.

PO already has the knowledge, skills and relevant experience in dealing with stubborn legislators.

Instead of the judiciary giving these judgement that won't be enforced, can't they take a queue from the judge that charged Donald Trump for contempt and the penalty was $10,000 per day. A judgement like that will be easily enforceable.

You are his son right? You know him very well?

This is very simple.
The ObI I know will always ask questions...

On why you needed to spend on so and so,why you need to change furniture every year etc.or why you need this number of operatoionl vehicles and why need to change them every year or so.

And even on capital projects, for example, you have to convince him on how a kilometer of road will cost 1 billion in Nigeria but the same Chinese company is building it at a cost of 500million in another country and don't come and tell me it's because of insecurity because this is what has been happening over the years.

How do you have the good people in government? First politics is about interest. Even in the USA, interest is paramount. Ordinary NFF elections things happen not to talk of presidential elections. So it is only somebody loving in dream land that will come up with this wishful thinking.

Yureyes:

Lol. You guys think everyone wants to convince you to vote Obi. Omo, OYO is your case o. Even me, I won’t vote because I can’t.

You talked about needing the National Assembly. I’m telling you if you have good people at all levels of government, people that have Nigeria at heart. it won’t be difficult to bring change regardless of their party. Then there was an if clause. “If” the parties are the problem, then vote the party that you are sure will bring about the change and in this case it is LP for me.

The statement “The ball is in your court” didn’t mean vote my candidate. It simply meant it is up to you to make the right decision. It is you the voter that has the power to bring about change. Vote the right people and you will be good.

I think Datti has done justice to this question before
Things like they wont be flying presidential jet every second to London for medical treatment

They wont be budgeting over 1b for yearly feeding of presidency

They wont have their children and cousins using govt jet like private cars and running aso rock like family house

They wont be having inflated budget running in millions just to equip aso rock kitchen (kitchen that is already equipped) smh

I think there're a lot that are directly under their control before we talk of what others are doing

These are young men that will lead by example

Peter Obi has promised that he will reduce cost of governance if he is elected president.

How can he achieve this considering the Senate and house of representatives will be in the hands of APC/PDP?

Someone should please tell me how he will achieve this without the backing of parliament.

Note that even in the USA without the backing of the legislature a president cannot achieve much.
