deols: @ Deols, you are quite wrong there! Fasting and starvation are two entirely different things. Starvation sets in when the body is depleted of its reserves ie both nutritional and calorific. An obese person can stay without food for up to 50days and that isn't starvation because he still has some reserves for his body to function. However, someone of a lean body frame may not stay that long without untoward effects on his body because his reserves initially were less than the obese person, and would be considerately depleted in the period without food. Look at children in war-torn regions, and you will see STARVATION and it can ultimately lead to death if not corrected. It's not even prolonged fasting. In fasting, the body still has reserves to help in its function, and these reserves are 'topped up' when the person breaks his fast with food/drink of nutritional and calorific values. Whether one goes without food for 2hrs or even 96 hrs, it is still a FAST because of the body reserves and the fact that the body adjusts to these changes and makes up for it. When the body can no longer adjust and starts to break down its tissues etc, then, STARVATION, has set in. Whether you engorge yourself on food @ 5am and @ 7pm, you are still fasting, which isn't different from the person who decides to eat @ 6am and eats again @6pm. |

Islam for Muslims / Re: Why Does The Crescent Moon Symbol Sit On Top Of Mosques? by JaguaNana: 12:41am On Sep 08, 2009 |
Abuzola: @ Abuzola, from your answer above, don't you think that DavidDylan was right in his conclusion that Islam just wants to antagonise Christianity? Your answer above does not satisfy the question posed : Why does the crescent moon sit on top of mosques? Though you mentioned that it was a later development in Islam, you did not say why they chose a Crescent . A circle, a triangle, a swastika, a turban, a sword, simply anything could have been chosen as a symbol, but a Crescent was chosen. Here we expect any respectable Muslim to give us reasons why a Crescent was chosen as a symbol on Mosques. The symbol of Christianity is the Cross, and any Christian will tell you what the Cross symbolises. While you are at it, you can go further and let us know about the architecture of mosques and if this form of architecture was strictly religious or not, bearing in mind that some non-religious buildings and non-Islamic buildings in the Middle- East have some similarity with mosques. |
Religion / Re: We Are In The End Of The World. by JaguaNana: 10:22am On Sep 04, 2009 |
@ Poster The world has been 'ending' since the Biblical times; even our Great-great-great-grandchildren will still say that they are in the Last Days. Has it not occurred to you that it is really 'World without end'? Stop getting yourself worked up and scared about the myth of the Last Days and live a productive life with love for humanity. As other posters have commented, your world ends when you die. |
Religion / Re: Girl Dies After Parents Pray For Healing Instead Of Seeking Medical Help by JaguaNana: 10:34pm On Aug 03, 2009 |
@ Mactao, verily, verily, I perceive from thy post that thou art likely to behave as the girl's parents or maybe worse. The girl's parents showed their dedication to their God and sacrificed their daughter by doing so,yet, you are talking about sin. What sin Is it the girl who sinned or the parents that sinned that warranted the girl's death? Do you think that those who go to doctors are less dedicated to God? Do you think that when Christians succumb to illness or death it is because they have sin in their lives? Dude, you make me laff in Urhobo . The girls parents should be charged with wilful neglect in this case. |
Religion / Re: Very Very Very Dirty Passages From The Biblei by JaguaNana: 11:26pm On Jul 20, 2009 |
Abuzola: Abuzola, can you read? Did you read my post well at all? You wrote that the Hadith isnt your holy book, giving us the impression that it isn't paramount to Islam, but we all know that the Quran and the Hadiths stand side-by-side in Islam. You muslims even say that the Hadiths explain the Quran! Ablution and all other rituals you perform were not explained in the Quran, but in the Hadiths, so dont pretend as if the Hadiths do not have a paramount role in Islam. You know, your Imam could slap you if he heard that you made a silly statement which implies you belittling the Hadiths . The Hadith isn't your holy book, but it is on the same pedestal as the Quran, so do not try to create some wrong impressions that the Hadiths aren't important to you people!!! About lewdness, thats islam for you, from sperm to grave Islam has covered it and thats why you hear 'ISLAM IS THE TOTAL WAY OF LIFE'. I laugh at what you typed above. Did you read this statement after you typed it You actually agreed that lewdness is part of Islam and you put a stamp on the bedmatics of Muhammed! This shit you are smoking is so damn good, you should patent it and sell it so that 9ja's economy can improve! |
Religion / Re: Abuzola Initiates Peace by JaguaNana: 11:06pm On Jul 20, 2009 |
@ Abuzola, you not only smoke the best shit, you do have an over-bloated ego. You actually fancy yourself waging 'war' for Allah, and putting your 'arms' down for a brief respite if your 'enemies' do not 'attack' you , otherwise, you would mount more 'arsenal' against them. You are sick! People like you wont be found in the Isreali-Palestinian war or in Afghanistan because they are spineless . Abegi, go and do something constructive with your life and see how you can make your country a better place to live in. Shiiiio, kelebe tue!!! |

May kelly: May Kelly, hope this answer will suffice and you can go and have a really long rest. Muhammed's father's and grandfather's names were Abd-Allah and Abd-Al- Mutallib respectively. Next to nothing is known about anyone before his grandfather. Note that Abd-Allah means ' Servant of Allah' which tells us that Allah had already been worshipped as a deity before Muhammed was born or cooked up his lies on Islam. 6 children ( 4 daughters and 2 sons, though only 1 daughter survived him) were born to Muhammed and Khadija, the rich older widow he married and 1 from his union with Maria al-Qibtiyya (the son died in infancy). None of the other women in his harem bore him kids. |

Abuzola: @ Abuzola and his cronies, you guys are sick! You have the guts to imply that the Hadiths which showed the lewd nature of Muhammed are not authentic, and that the Hadith isnt your holy book, yet when you are with your fellow MUHAMMEDANS , you will use these same 'non-authentic Hadiths' to exhort them on how to pattern their lives with Muhammed's. The truth is that you all are embarrassed at the lewdness of your Muhammed , yet are spineless to publicly acknowledge it. Damn! You guys are smoking some real good 'shit' ! |

Religion / Re: Examples Of Apostle Paul conviniently ignored By preachers/pastors today. by JaguaNana: 4:36pm On Jun 19, 2009 |
Pilgrim.1, I'm not taking sides to slur anyone ( you know that). I'm not even interested in having you in my good books . I just described the person you are vis-a-vis the person you say you are. You may back-pat yourself in that you have a 'sharp mouth' but it goes a long way in telling those who may want to see Christ in you, but see that which is less than expected. My dear, humility is not boot-licking. And I do not subscribe to boot-licking. You can be humble without being insultive or having an acerbic tongue. However, I realised that humility isn't your forte . I devoted a long thesis to Pilgrim.1 Narcissus should be your middle name . Even though you may argue well and prove all your points in the most convincing manner, it does not necessarily mean that you are presenting truth and facts at all times. My teachers told me that one should always have confidence and oomph in presenting one's case even though the it may be lies, half-truths or plain nonsense. Pilgrim.1, your posts exude the aura of confidence at all times, and truth at some times. No hard feelings from me, I believe that some introspection on your part will do you a whole lot of spiritual good. Cheers! |
Religion / Re: Examples Of Apostle Paul conviniently ignored By preachers/pastors today. by JaguaNana: 1:06pm On Jun 19, 2009 |
Hi every1, I'm a JJC here and I'm just getting acquainted with the arguments/ discussions etc in this forum. The Religious Section is my best section - Huxley, Pilgrim.1, KunleOshob, Chrisbenogor, David Dylan and co ( cant mention y'all here here make my day. I find a particular poster here very intriguing- Pilgrim.1 ! Pilgrim.1, I've read many of your posts, I admire the way you put forth your arguments and the depth of your knowledge on religious issues being raised. What I do find intriguing is your personality which shows from your posts as opposed to the sort of person i.e. Christian, you want us to see you as. You do accuse some other posters of being reactionary, while you commit the same 'crime' yourself. You have a good knowledge of issues ( I must give you that ) but you now behave like an ITK ie I Too Know, forgetting that others are equally as knowledgeable and even more so than you. In other words, there's a heavy air of arrogance in your posts as if your fellow discussants know nothing. Your arrogance is like that of Paul who proclaimed himself the 'Chief of Apostles' and made sure nobody forgot it . Pilgrim.1, you also have the habit of being rude to people in the first instance. I'm referring to you being rude to someone without him/ her being rude to you first. Look at this : When making a statement, you'd have to validate it after carefully considering what others are saying - otherwise it makes you more of a piffling arrant noise-maker than a reasonable discussant. You really did not need to throw the yabis : piffling arrant noise-maker / reasonable discussant . Why not just stick to the topic of the argument instead of descending into argumentum ad hominem which you relish accusing others of doing ? So by throwing the yabis makes you a reasonable discussant? Get a grip on yourself girl, you do have some narcissistic attitudes ! You certainly love to cherry-pick like a lot of Christians do. This is just one of your quotations dear, there are many of them. Here's one thing I find funny ( not in a comical sense ) about you. Your conversion story. Even though it isn't a conventional conversion story, it still makes one wonder who the central character of the story is - you or Jesus? You had all your adulators begging you for more, and you were feeling like some 'star . Your conversion story read like a poorly- written romance bedtime story. You did a shoddy job in the whole story. My advice here is that you stick to what you do best : thrashing out ecclesiastical issues. This should have been well-discussed in your conversion story a la arguments, counter-arguments, evidence and the whole works. A little trimming ie the romance part is nice in a story, just make sure you know how to do the trimmings well otherwise you''ll ruin the whole story ( like you certainly did). There's a lot of false humility about you. You've laid this patina of humility thinly though, so a little pressure on you chips it off and then the real you emerges. At this point, you should do an introspection and see whether you reflect the Christ you profess to have in your life. I'm waiting for your healthy discussion with Lady today ( hopefully). I hope you two ladies won't descend into tearing each other's hair and eyes out . It's a well-known fact that the Catholic church brought about the existence of the Bible, I wondered at your reluctance in accepting this truth ( you resorted to writing something totally unconnected to the issue ). It seemed to me that you just wanted to counter Lady for the sake of argument, rather than truth and facts . Tut, tut, tut, I know the above isn't relevant to the topic, I didn't feel the need to open a thread dedicated to you (wouldn't want your head to grow bigger than it already is). |
