meobizy:
Congo’s wars will continue due to the country’s massive reserves of rare earth minerals. The white man is behind every instability in the African continent. We’re nothing but slaves to them who should either be put into production for their kind or face death. The fact we breed like rats means a steady labour force for their unending greed. If our resources dry up, they’ll leave immediately and watch us tear each other apart.

You're right. I wept reading "What Really Happened in Congo: The CIA, the Murder of Lumumba, and the Rise of Mobutu"

Politics / Re: Senate Says It Is Ready To Amend Nigerian Constitution To Okay State Police by johannu(m): 8:35am On Feb 18
Paraman:
If not for northern politicians that were always against state police, maybe we could have had one by now

The north is always opposed to anything that will move Nigeria forward. The north believe that a backward Nigeria suits their backwardness. The north is not ready to move forward and will not allow the south to move forward. The south must break away from the north to move forward.

As much as this idea sounds great due to insecurity, it will just make governors mini tyrants.

I hope they put enough checks mechanism in the law that would set it up to mitigate abuse.

APC governors will just be using state police to rig elections.

In fact, I suspect the reason they are pushing for State Police is to have enough touts that would help execute 2027 elections seeing that nobody in his right senses would vote for them except their brainless supporters.

Are you saying no to state police because state police will make governors mini tyrants? You can also say we don't need federal police because federal police will make the President a tyrant. Poor thinker! The same governors you fear may abuse state police are the ones becoming president.

IkeOnyia:
State police is not advisable. Governors will use them with impunity to stiffle every opposition in their states. Also inter-state police coordination will be difficult and criminals will be the better for it. Imagine if someone from Kano commits a serious crime in Akwa Ibom and runs back to his state and the police in Kano shields him because they think his crime is backed up by sharia law or because Akwa Ibom has a rival political party there. The idea of state police must be jettisoned because it is a recipe for total collapse of the security of the nation.

You're talking nonsense.

I understand what you're trying to say. Don't mind stupid people that lack understanding. If the whole country could be on a lockdown for months because of COVID (and by the way how many Nigerians died due to COVID?), why can't we declare a state of emergency on insecurity? We are losing precious lives on daily basis on account of terrorism, kidnapping, banditry, and all manners of violent crimes. The political class seems less bothered, after all they have a sense of security around them. But let them continue, they fail to understand that at this rate they too are not safe.

The solemn truth about this japa thing is that it is not a good thing perse because every country have it own peculiar challenges in every ramifications.

Some people are not good candidates to immigrate. How can someone who is established with a thriving career, sell everything including his property especially house just to move abroad?

Yes! There may be need to acquire more income and better form of life especially for the younger age persons but then don't forget that endless bill payments and taxation will take the toll on them in such countries. Not all that glitters is always gold

It is better to sell one's properties just to move abroad than to sell all properties to pay ransom to kidnappers in the jungle called Nigeria.

Ladies should be careful with following unknown men around .

Hoteliers too should have due diligence on customers that come to patronize them.
So sad and unfortunate.
If there is a law that any hotel where such terrible thing like this happens, such hotel will be demolished, the C-of-O revoked, and the owner of the hotel sent to prison, the hoteliers will have sense and ensure that criminals do not escape after committing murder in their hotel rooms. If one is managing an hotel, there should be CCTV cameras installed, and before a customer leaves the hotel, the room where the customer had lodged would be inspected before the customer is allowed to exit the hotel. Security and safety of lodgers and staff should be topmost priority.

Just to remove a southern President for a northerner to be President they used insecurity to make the country ungovernable and kicked GEJ out

To remove a southerner as FCT minister and bring in a northerner as FCT minister, they are using the same insecurity.

The south don't know the north. The north want just one thing: one Nigeria that is controlled and dominated by the north. Nigeria will know no peace until the north and the south part way.

This country needs to be restructured asap. Everyone should go back to their region and secure it. Let's know who the outsiders and invaders are. As nigerians we must resist any politician telling us restructuring is division. We must control our resources while remit some to the center for border protection & foreign policy. Imagine if states had state & local police manned by indigrnes or residents. It's time to secure our motherland

Something drastic has to be done urgently. We need state police, local government area police, and even every community needs its own police, otherwise we are finished.
Crime / Re: Kidnappers Kill One Of Six Siblings Abducted In Abuja by johannu(m): 1:27am On Jan 14
We the masses that are most affected by insecurity should demand for:

1. State Police
2. Local Government Police
3. Community Police

There was lockdown (emergency) for months because of COVID. But how many people COVID killed? Do you know how many people are being killed everyday by kidnappers, armed robbers, terrorists, and other bandits? So government cannot declare a state of emergency on insecurity.
If nothing urgently is done, the situation will get worse and survival in Nigeria will be increasingly tough.

And they surround themselves with police, leaving the populace at the mercy of terrorists, kidnappers, armed robbers, assassins, and other bandits. I think the masses that are most affected by insecurity should come out and demand for state police. Left to the political class, they don't care so long they have police escort.
