Just hang on. You aint the only one who's not been called. I believe they're still sending invitation. Give them until you hear the first group of invitees have written theirs.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Any Hope For One With A 2.2 In Chemical Engineering by kellyhand1: 7:54pm On May 10, 2009
humblesoul:

hello nairalanders, i was talking with a friend who just graduated with a 2.2 in chemical engineering from a federal university back in nigeria, and he is feeling depressed because he feels he will not be able to get a job because all the employers are asking for a 2.1, he does not have the financial backing to do a masters, i really don't know what to tell him , he sounds like he has given up, so what do you guys think? what should i say, is there hope for him?

Point of correction, Not all companies need only 2:1, SHELL takes 2:2. He should watch out for their adverts on their site. Another wise suggestion is learning some chemical engrg software like Hysis, Chemcad e.t.c. Browse on the internet and check for more types.

Check out some Design companies as well.Men, I know of a Mechanical Engineering graduate who finished with a 2:2 after having an extra year. He works with TOTAL now and that's the third oil company he's working for.

But the most important thing right now is TRUSTING GOD.I know it may sound hard but that's the only way.

Hope this helps.

You're talking rubbish, don't you know how it feels when someone kills your morale? You get distabilized and it affects your subsequent performance.

The referee is a big fool, he killed the morale of the Tottenham players.

I don't agree with ManU with this game. The referee definitely assisted them.

He's an idiot.

Thank God, Tuesday's game against my team is not going to be officiated by an English referee.

Romance / Re: Would A Man's Bad Past Affect His Future? by kellyhand1: 12:57pm On Apr 18, 2009
God chooses whom he wants to bless or use. Remember the story of Jacob and Esau. Also remember dat Abraham lied about Sarah. David committed adultery with Bathsheba and lost the child that came from their union. Samson and Delilah is a common story and of coz he became blind. Moses had a very bad temper and so did not enter the promise land.
There are many more there in the scriptures but they were all used by God.

@poster, In your case, I'll advise you talk to God about it. There are guys I've met who lived terrible lives (I'm not being judgemental here please) but are doing very well. I BELIEVE GOD IS JUST BEING MERCIFUL BY GIVING THEM MORE TIME TO CHANGE BECAUSE ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN AND THEY'RE GONE.

Your question has already been answered, if the person changes spiritually by surrendering to Jesus Christ, then there may likely not be any consequence otherwise I can't guarantee that there won't be any consequence.

Hope this helps,

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Contract Job With Total (200k) Vs Masters In The Uk: Which Do U Prefer? by kellyhand1: 8:54pm On Apr 01, 2009
@poster

I STRONGLY ADVISE THAT YOU TAKE UP THE JOB. THERE IS CURRENTLY ECONOMIC CRISIS AND YOU KNOW WE HEAR MORE OF JOBLOSS. YOU CAN'T AFFORD TO MISS THAT OPPORTUNITY.

AS FOR THE MASTERS, LIKE WHAT ONE OF THE POSTERS ABOVE SAID, IT CAN ALWAYS WAIT.TELL DAD TO THROW THE CASH INTO AN INVESTMENT HOUSE WHERE MORE INTEREST CAN BE GENERATED.

MIGHT ALSO INTEREST YOU TO KNOW THAT THERE ARE VERY MANY MASTERS HOLDERS FROM SCHOOLS ABROAD WITHOUT JOBS BOTH HERE IN NAIJA AND ABROAD.

ANOTHER ADVANTAGE WORTHY OF NOTE IS THE FACT THAT FOREIGN COMPANIES ARE MORE INTERESTED IN THOSE WITH EXPERIENCE (AFTER MSC ABROAD).

CHOOSE WISELY BROTHER.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Mobil Test Format by kellyhand1: 8:32pm On Mar 28, 2009
http://www./index.php/topic,40813.0.html

The test format for mobil producing nigeria-graduate trainee position is as follows
1. verbal reasoning that will last for under 30 minutes and are 40 questions , basically u will be given a short passage and will be requires to answers a, b, or c  to assumptions made based on the contents of the passage,
a- u agree with what the statement says
b - u disagree with the statement based on what is in the passage
c- u cant tell from the passage if the statement is correct

2. Numerical reasoning - 35 minutes 35 questions, u get to use a calculator, basic stuff, u are give a data sheet with graphs and charts and asked questions from the chart, easy stuff, the onlky problem is flipping the pages back and forth to get to the data sheet from the question page, mobil should do something about that it wastes valuable time.

3. diagrammatical reasoning- if u did nlng, chevron, or any of those funky tests on diagrams u ought to be used to this by now, anyways it is the simplest i have ever done. 16 mins 40 questions

4 discipline test, i'm an electrical engineer, so my test included electric machines, motors, generators, transformers, control devices, circuit brakers, insulation materials, most of these stuff u will know if u have working experience as an engineer in your field, no so much of classroom stuff, but a sound knowledge of theory will help u when u dont have the experience. 48 questions 60 minutes.

so be prepare before you are invited so dat you can pass
Thanks

I'm facing a similar situation my guy.

YOU CAN REMAIN FRIENDS WITH HER BUT TRY AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE TO REDUCE CONTACTS PERHAPS BY CALLING ONCE IN SIX MONTHS OR EVEN ONCE IN A YEAR. BE VERY CAREFUL WITH YOUR CONTACTS WITH HER OTHERWISE YOUR FEELINGS FOR HER WILL RESURRECT AND YOU'LL FIND YOURSELF BREAKING YOUR NEW GIRL'S HEART.

BLESS YOU.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: My Embarrassing Interview Situations You Need To Learn From by kellyhand1: 11:11pm On Mar 22, 2009
My ribs are almost cracked. Can't site out the funniest but very informative as well.

I had an experience with a multinational oil company in the UK in front of two top managers (white men).I had performed excellent in the technical areas to which they were highly impressed but hell was let loose when I was asked for the non-technical skills I possess. I stood transfixed for a moment and guess what came out from the thoughtless moment; I SAID I LOVE TO MAKE PEOPLE LAUGH TO CHEER THEM UP. The next question one of them asked was: ARE YOU A COMEDIAN? my God,that was when I knew I had lost it.

In another oil company I had an interview with for an experience position, I was told that my 6 months experience wasn't adequate but was offered the opportunity for entry level position. I TOLD I HAD NO PROBLEM WITH THAT.Do you guys think it's a right way to answer such a question?I got a rejection letter few days later.

Career / Re: Postgraduate Degree Has Minimal Significance In Nigeria Compared To: by kellyhand1: 8:58pm On Mar 14, 2009
While I agree that working for about 2 to 3 years before going for Masters is a good move, I don't think going straight for Masters after NYSC is a waste of time. You stand to gain some things if you bag your Masters after NYSC:

1) Your chances of getting a job (most jobs state MSc to be an added advantage) and besides, you can start your career abroad.
2) The company spends less to train you especially if you finished from a good school abroad
3) You will earn slightly more than your BSc colleague if you are both employed at the same time.

THE REASON WHY THINGS LOOK BLEAK NOW IS BECAUSE OF THE ECONOMIC CRISIS THE WORLD IS CURRENTLY FACING.
And again, companies are not ready to spend on training right now, so that makes someone with MSc more qualified than someone with only BSc.
My guys, most MSc abroad teach you exactly what you will do when you get a job. You even get the opportunity to do company projects as your dissertation.

HAVING SAID ALL THESE, YOUR CAREER DEPENDS ON HOW YOU WANT IT TO GO AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, PUT GOD FIRST AND YOU'LL GET THERE.

CHEERS.

Romance / She Said She Doesn't Want Me Again But She Still Wants Me To Call Her Regularly. by kellyhand1: 9:22pm On Mar 10, 2009
Hello guys,

I went out with her for six months but she recently told me she's no more physically attracted to me because she's met someone else who has a job. Although, I know if i got a job before she met the guy,we would have probably got married.

I tried everything I could to bring her back but all to no avail.I still called her everyday after then but I made up my mind not to call her again. Yesterday happened to be the first time I didn't call her because I wanted her off my mind so that I could concentrate on more improtant things.

The problem now is that she called me very early this morning to ask why I didn't call her again.I told her I was busy that day. Throughout today,I ignored her again but she also got in the early evening to say that I've been ignoring her.

What exactly does she want from me? She's met someone else who is from her tribe, who's got a very good job and someone she claimed she likes his charisma more than me.

Each time I talk to her, I'm always tempted to ask her to re-consider but I really don't like that.

PLEASE GUYS, WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK OF THIS BABE?
AND WHAT DO YOU ADVISE ME TO DO?
Romance / I Just Told Her That I Won't Disturb Her Again But I Still Love Her by kellyhand1: 9:51pm On Feb 25, 2009
Hi guys,

I have been dating her for 6months. We liked each other very much but the fact that i don't have a job troubles her. She's almost always not happy with anything i do or say until last monday night when she sent me a text that she's no more physically attracted to me.Ever since then,i've not been able to sleep.
I begged her with everything and even in God's name several times but she remained unmoved.

She actually met another sometimes in january 2009.
I spoke with a friend who advised me to stop disturbing her and concentrate more on getting a job. As a result, I called her tonight to tell her that I'll never disturb her again but that we should remain friends.

Do u think she'll still want to be a friend with me?
Do u think i was a loser to have told her that?
I still feel so much for her and told her she can come back if she changes her mind.
I'm still feeling hurt, what can I do to stop this hurting feelings I'm passing through?

Romance / Re: Needs Ur Advice by kellyhand1: 9:44pm On Feb 07, 2009
MY GUY, THINK ON THESE POINTS AND YOU GET YOUR ANSWERS:

1. When you were in the Polytechnic and University, was she there by you or gold-digger?

2. Are your parents in full support of both of you getting married?

3. Since you are now a made guy, is it not possible for you to open a classic business for her or if you prefer, ask what she likes to do?

4. Do you want to spend the rest of your life with someone who may happen to be a strange woman until after the wedding day or someone who wants to reap where she has not sown?

I can continue but I don't think I should because you can think of more advantages u got while you've been dating her.

May God not let you become ruined because I can assure you that there are so many girls out there that will do anything to bring you down.

Take Heed lest you fall.

Hi everyone,

Please, I'll like to know what you guys think about the oil companies recruitment for this year. Nothing seems to be coming from them.
Most guys thought Chevron would have brought out advert by now since there was none for fresh grad last year but nothing yet.

This economic downturn appears to have paralysed so many activities.

Na whao, but God dey sha.

I THINK YOU SHOULD SEE IT FROM AGE POINT OF VIEW.

IF YOU OBSERVE CAREFULLY, YOU WOULD DISCOVER THAT THE YOUNGER LECTURERS TEND TO BE MUCH HOSTILE. BUT THE OLDER ONES WOULDN'T POSE MUCH PROBLEM.

WHATEVER THE CASE, JUST REMAIN HUMBLE BUT NOT FOOLISH.ANOTHER WAY TO SAY THIS IS 'BE CONFIDENT BUT NOT PROUD WHEN YOU ARE TALKING WITH THEM'.

IF YOU DO, THEY'LL GET THE MESSAGE.
