Politics / Re: What Are The Consequences Of The Umar Farouk's Action On Nigeria? by Kilonso: 10:55am On Dec 31, 2009
Let's not forget that America knows what is going on in Nigeria, in other words they know that Northern Nigeria is entirely different from the south so what ever it is, their concern is the north, not Nigeria as a whole

sayso:

She is dead but lived an adulterous life, her first husband (Bongo Sikwe)is still alive but married another man IBB and together they killed the first husband's son she gave birth to, the wages of sin is death and according to christain doctrine she commited adultry with IBB.

I heard she wasnt married to Bongo Sikwe but only had a child for him then and she was very young, and also heard the she ordered that the young man (her son) was shot dead when he went to Dodan barracks to see his mom. So there is this argument that it wasn't she who carried the order but babangida. I don't know which is true actually between the two. For me I think cursing behind keyboard on the internet is a waste of time and unimportant hysteria.

Dude,

It's our oil they want NOT aerial attack. They will only use violence if we resist to let them take us for a ride.Besides, where they are really interested in is 9ja delta NOT the north.Don't be surprised if you here of them talking about setting up bases in the north and headquarters in 9ja delta. They might use the pipleline bombing as excuse to protect their "national security".How unfortunate Africans can't see beyond their noses.By the time it hits the fan, all the thieving politicians would have left the country to enjoy their stolen wealth while the masses will go through unmeasurable suffering. If this US move is not countered now when it's still fresh, NIGERIA IS DOOMED!

Who knows if this whole bombing attempt by mutalab's son is a charade, because I've been wondering how he was able to beat the security with bomb under his crutch. But if this Americans have something else in mind, they are in for their waterloo. Or is what we are suspecting what i dreamt earlier this month?

Na wao! some of you here talk sense and others are just off key. Is it America's fault that Nigeria can't hold her own? And some of us are just here for being here's sake. God!

Just as I anticipated, the feelings and opinions will be mixed here, but God's judgement is far from that of men just as the heaven is far from Earth. His ways and thoughts also are not that of men.
At this point though everyone is free and pardoned to express there wishes, be it good or bad because it has been said in the bible that when the wicked perishes the city rejoice. But the paradox of this our late ex-first lady's marriage with her husband is that in as much as I cannot personally hold her responsible for the actions of her husband, I still strongly believe that a good woman should have at one point disagreed with one or some of her evil husband's deeds. But I don't think there ever was any rumor disagreement between the two, She must have been a good wife to able to stand by the devil of her husband while he was cutting a lot of lives short.
At this point I really do not know if I should say "rest in peace" or "burn in hell! because I always ask myself, my fellow human and my creator questions. And the question I want to ask myself is "if I were to find myself in a high and sensitive position like that of Myriam, would I have been able to look at someone like IBB in the eye and tell him 'you are nothing but evil?
The both of them might have been one by the decree of marriage, but they are two entirely different souls by the standard of God's judgement. In as much as I can't wish Myriam's soul peace, I still cannot mock her death, because on the contrary while IBB was busy bringing souls and the country down, she on the contrary was empowering the Nigerian women.
I don't know what her opinions were behind closed doors concerning her devil of a husband's ways so I cannot exonerate her, so being a woman, I still cannot condemn her either in as much as I can spit on IBB's grave.
Remember God never had issues with issues with bathsheba for submitting her flesh to King, David behind her husband. Why? because she is just a woman so the whole blame and judgement was on David.
Politics / Re: Work Begins On $3bn Lagos Light Rail by Kilonso: 11:56pm On Dec 29, 2009
senetee:

Truth is those BRT buses are still not enough. Have you been to a BRT bus terminal between the hours of 5 pm to 7 pm, especially the one at CMS? You would behold a very long queue which indicates that the demand is there but the supply does not match it at the moment.

It is still nice to know that there is a comfortable alternative to squeezing into a rickety bus (which on bad day could just pack up on 3rd Mainland bridge)from obalende to the Mainland.

Also, Lagos has hydra headed problems which cannot be fixed in one administration. I salute the former administration and this current one in Lagos state for providing this alternative. I pray and believe, they can improve on what has been done.

The more channels of transportation, the lesser the pressure on just one which is currently roads. I welcome it.

Fashola himself said it, I think he mentioned something more than four thousand buses in Lagos state and that the only means of getting such quantity is by attracting the manufacturers in to the conutry, and he admitted the this it will take years. the man is a leader. Really proud of him.

islam never means peace but submission any body that say islam mean peace should read along with me.Qur'an 9:5 "When the sacred forbidden months for fighting are past, fight and kill the disbelievers wherever you find them, take them captive, beleaguer them, and lie in wait and ambush them using every stratagem of war.THAT VERSE COME FROM KORAN , SO , WHO NOW SAY THAT TERRORISM IS NOT PART OF ISLAM OR JIHAD DOES NOT MEAN FIGHTING WITH THE SWORDS THAT PERSON SHOULD NOT FORGET ABOUT HOW THE ISLAM CAME TO STAY IN NORTHERN PART OF NIGERIA.

The problem with us humans is that we are in the fashion of compromise and delusion. I always knew it even though I don't even get close to Koran, but as a kid back then I used to watch Mohamed's film and all through this guys life, na war him just dey fight. Did we ever read or hear the Jesus fought? even when Peter his follower got violent he was against his act and corrected him instantly. By their fruits you shall know them, so we would be deceiving ourselves to acknowledge a religion whose subjects are nothing but blood thirsty brutes.

East and West, we understand each other, but those fanatics are just nothing but schizophrenic cows. If only we have a united spirit just like them, because that is what keeps them going--- one mind and a common goal.

I saw the picture and began to wonder why an internationally convicted criminal's face should be blurred oh photo, that's funny. And since Americans confirmed that the father alerted them about the young man's extreme views, that would kind of serve as a relief on us Nigerians. We should not sound as if the America itself is totally clean: they have more terrorists among them, even more homicidal criminals, drug dealers, assassins, name it, So let's stop being extremely pessimistic as though we do not have a good number of Nigerians who make us Nigerians and the world at large proud on the contrary.

Get a profession and if you have one, then get a life and stop whining. Pity is for failures;

You are the one who needs to get a life!  angry Has any of them ever snatched your chic? Why do u hate them so much? Hello, how many banks buy these so called home made specialized IT systems in the first place? These guys lost their jobs because their employers misbehaved and all you can do is rant. . . Jeez! You are pathetic. For each person sacked, do u know how many Nigerians are affected? Some of your statements were outrightly callous. I suggest you go thru your post again. . .  Slowly this time. Jeez! Such outbursts!

guy, you just unwittingly and spitefully digressed from the topic, may be you are an it guy, thats ur cup of tea and if someone else can do banking alone thats his own cup of tea.

Ok, now I understand your point. You wanted to see banks fail before you know we had issues with some of the banks. Allowing them to fail would have been disastrous and am I sure you would turn around to blame Sanusi for not acting in his capacity to prevent the failure. Now he has acted to prevent some banks from failing you are blaming him.

What do we really want in Nigeria? I am sure some of us would complain of too much electricity if we see steady power supply in Nigeria.

If you want to have your house swept you better have it done properly, not choosing spots and intensionally leaving other parts to flourish the more in their dirts. Did you not read or hear it in the news then Adenuga was also arrested? Or do you want to tell me that after his arrest, his bank was taken from him, then later given back to him with apology was a mistake? If it was then culprits' arrest should also e seen in the same light. ask yourself, why arent we moving forward in this country if all the bitching charades of those who find themselves in power are justifiable?

@ Afam: There are some things one isnt so sure of, and one is that those banks would have collapsed within 18 months. All these years they didnt collapse so stop that blasphemous talk about Sanusi being God-sent because we havent felt anything positive as a result of the actions he has taken order than the news that our banking ogas were fraudstars , or have you? tell me one?

You mean you work in a bank, and like many of your fellow bankers you cannot see the bigger picture, instead focusing your ire on the 'sanusi tsunami'. Where were you when a new generation bank had to take a full page newspaper advert petitioning the president to help with loan recovery to no avail?
It is shameful that the entire point of your argument is to say that the banks must sympathize with the debtors for unplanned business losses. How is that supposed to work out? Are these not the same banks that mercilessly go on after small scale businesses and enterpreneurs over minor defaults on their loans, yet go soft on their cronies that contribute far less to the NIgerian economy?

We must thank Sanusi for exposing the rot in the banking sector and arresting it in time.

What are you thanking Sanusi for? that he is the messiah? my friend no dey deceive yourself. Why was the bank of Adenuga given back to him after he was arrested? That tells you that there is preferential partiality and some people are untouchable. The only one you should be thanking is God.

Vendetta or no vendetta, the man might have spitefully taken a rash approach but it takes one inconsiderate devil to kill others. Just like the time of prima donna of Rhibadu who just felt like tomorrow would never come, went on rampage with the delight of being a hired gun, humiliated robbers in the guise of governors and others. Does that mean his victims were innocent? NO. Though its a pity that a lot of innocent staffs are now affected, but let us stop hoping that there wont be casualties in times of war. And what we are going through i the country is economic war, and during war innocent ones die, and always will die and that is the sacrificial part of it this whole quagmire.

I took my time to read this trend and various comments of most NLDRS and this is my opinion (objective). Let me inform you that I am in a financial institution and knows what operates within Nigeria financial industry and the world (I do not claim to know all but I can boldly say I know much).
Now back to the topic, Sanusi's actions and utterancies are far below expectation and I believe he himself does not realised the sensitivity of the position he occupies. Nigeria is not the only country with bad loan problem, it is a global issue. For lack of time I could have given you list of banks in US and Britain that has such problem and has gone under or bailed out by the authorities.
The simple question we should ask ourselves is "if  anyone approach you for a loan and you know that the person will default in servicing or repayment of such loan will you grant the loan"? In another way "if you are to borrow money for an investment and you know that you are going to run at a loss will you take such loan"? This is the scenario of both the lender and borrower of this bad loan. The borrowers either invest in oil or the stock market and got their hands burnt, while that of oil is as a result of global meltdown the case of stock market was as a result of lack of proper supervision of the authorities which result in price manipulations that could not be sustained when foreign investors pulled out their funds.
WHERE SANUSI GOT IT WRONG.
The best Sanusi could have done is to make the bank pursue aggressive loan recovery/ loan rescheduling so that the situation will be a win-win for the bank and the economy (Sanusi knows this) but instead Sanusi engaged in vendettas moves forgetting that the economy and the masses will be the ultimate loser.
Don't forget that whatever we do today is history tomorrow and events of today can be revisited in the future. BE FAIR TO EVENTS SO THAT HISTORY CAN BE FAIR TO YOU.
This is my personal contributions and not that of any interest group.

And how do you think the "aggressive loan recovery/ loan rescheduling" could have been achieved since you felt he he knew it?

like i said earlier, this statement was obviously written by a lawyer.
it says so much without saying anything in particular.
On a second thought, one can not be sure of anything on the basis of it.
When they are ready to tell us the full story, we will listen.
This statement is plain grandstanding.
When they decide to robe the father in, he will tell the full story.

The situation at hand now is one can't be insinuative about the father having full knowledge concerning his son's criminal act on the presumption that the statement was obviously written by a lawyer or not.

I can only hope that is where she is heading.

Trust me, no human being with any bit of intergrity, would ever marry IBB.

What does she tell him when he kills people and impoverishes millions, "Stop it hunny, your being bad"

Does she donate to charity in the morning and watch the evil genius at work at night.

Does she think ohh I am such an humanitarian, I am trying to heal IBB of his evil deeds, maybe just one more year of being married to him.

You do have great points and anyone too has the right to be as judgmental as you but you know there is time for everything under this sun, we should at list mourn her at this time, if for nothing, for her few good works. You know, through history it has never been easy for the wives of evil kings. So if you ask me, I'd say she made her own little positive statement and that contrasts her from her husband. Bet the reason ibb loved her because he knows he can turn his back with her and be safe
