Literature / Re: Continue The (Lola) Story by Lyzbet: 3:15pm On Nov 12, 2012 |
Efemena_xy: Lola gently pulled her hand away from his kisses. She was weak within. She couldn’t continue to bear it. ‘’I want to go home’’, she said, and relaxed her body into the seat. I can’t go through this again, she thought to herself. I just can’t. But you love him. Do I? No, I don’t. Her mind fought back and forth with the thought of loving Kingsley or not. She was lost in her thoughts and didn’t hear him mutter “I’m sorry”. She was jolted from her thoughts when he started the car. The journey home was almost quiet. Kingsley had the urge to talk to her but he knew this wasn’t the right time. A few minutes from home, he softly asked, “Lola, I want to see you again.” She swallowed. “Why”, she asked. He sighed,” I have a lot to tell you, we have a lot to talk about but I don’t want to rush you I just...” His words faded with his voice. It was difficult for him too. He knew it was hard for her too. “Please, I really need to talk to you, I really want to see you again, but you need to rest, I’ll check on you next week, may we can work something out then.” All she said was “ok”. She wanted to see him too. “Thank you”, he said politely. He then took her hand and kissed the back of her palm, it sent familiar shivers down her spine. The crowd in the front of the Olatunji’s were talking endlessly as the Lexus slowed down in front of the house and stopped, several pairs of eyes were fixed on the vehicle that had just arrived and their minds were wondering who it is, until Lola stepped out of the car. The noise was as loud as that of a stadium, especially when a goal had just been scored. ”Welcome”, ”sorry o”, ”pele”, ”ndo”, ”sonu”, even the mallam who sells petty things was there to welcome her. It was shocking. This was the same neighborhood that looked at her with scorn and gossiped behind her whenever she walked passed. Her parents came out of the house on hearing the noise. Her father stepped out first, carrying Sandra. Immediately, Sandra saw her mother she screamed, ” Mummy!.” Mr. Olatunji put the little girl on the floor and she ran towards her mother. Lola lifted her up in her hands and kissed her. Sandra hugged her mother tight and whispered, “I miss u, mummy”, “I missed you too”, Lola replied. Mr. Olatunji patted Lola on her back and gave her a warm embrace and walked toward Kingsley to welcome him and thank him for bringing his daughter home. Mrs Olatunji moved towards her daughter and hugged her, almost choking her. “Lola, oko mi, pele, aahh, oju e re.” “Ese o, e ku idide o”’, she turned to the well-wishers, thanking them and indirectly telling them to go back to their homes. “Let’s go inside”, Mr. Olatunji urged his family and their guest. Kingsley kept staring at Sandra. He could not understand. Lola has a child? Is she now married? He mind kept on asking questions as they all stepped into the living room. The smelled of the ogbono soup filled the air. ‘Hmm’, Lola sighed. It was so good to be home. “Our doctor” said Mrs. Olatunji to Kingsley, “come and sit. Lola, you too sit. I have prepared food for you”, and she hurried into the kitchen. “Ma, you don’t… Kinsley started but was cut short by Mr Olatunji’s “no, no, no, you have to eat. My son, do you know what you have done for me? You can’t understand. You have given me back my daughter, and what do I give you in return, a plate of meal? That’s not even worth a minute fraction of her life. Please you have to eat, besides, my wife has been preparing all day. Please.” Kingsley had no more to say, he had no choice. The table was set before him. The aroma was inviting. It was irresistible. He silently thanked god that Lola’s father had persuaded him .he watched Lola and her daughter as they ate. His questions began to fill his head again. He couldn’t comprehend it. After a little talk about his demanding job, the country’s politics and the educational sector with Lola’s father, Kingsley rose up to leave. He turned to Lola and asked,”Can I have your number, I need to check on you occasionally, to ensure you are using your medication.” Immediately, Lola recalled everything that happened the night she fainted and remembered the most important thing, her interview! Her mother who had been watching her face calmed her, “don’t worry, everything is alright.” Her father turned to Kingsley,”let me give it to you.” After the exchange of numbers and pleasantries, Kingsley got into his car and drove off. When her parents came in after seeing Kingsley off, Lola asked,”mummy, where is my phone.” Her father interjected, “Lola, you have to rest like the doctor advised.” “But I need to check my mail”, Lola protested, “I need to know the outcome of the interview I went for two weeks ago.” Two weeks ago, would hold down a job for two weeks”, her mother argued. Lola sighed, maybe they were right, she thought. She drifted into sleep with her daughter in her arms. Back in the kitchen, Lola’s mother asked her husband, ‘did you notice any resemblance between Sandra and the doctor’, “ The doctor? “ Lola’s father looked puzzled. “Yes, the doctor, I’m going to ask Lola about it, and I keep wondering how she knew his name at the hospital. I hope she remembers. ” |

Food / Re: Recipe For Kunu Needed Please. by Lyzbet: 6:31am On Oct 25, 2012 |
Hmmm. Kunu is made 4m grains called 'mewa'-locally, l dnt kw its english name. Its pronounced has 'mímí' n nt mewa, d yoruba way of sayin ten. U also need ginger, dry pepper, ata ile n a seive cloth. Rinse d mewa very well cos it contains lots of sands. The best method 4 rinsin is to add lots of water n decant d mewa with d water, by d time u r almost thru wit d quantity of mewa rinsed, u wuld see sand at d bottom of d bowl. Soak the rinsed mewa 4 just over 24hrs wit d water just a bit above d level of mewa in d bowl used. After 24hrs, add ginger, dry pepper(ata gbigbe), n spices known as 'ata ile'- u suld get this 4m som1 dat sells ginger, garlic, n d likes. Take d mewa n other additions to a local grinder, n grind. Be careful nt 2 add more water then necessary. Infact, little or no water suld b added at d grinder's. Leave d ground mixture 4 about 12hrs. Then boil water. Pour about two-thirds of d mixture into a bowl n add hot boiling water -like u r preparin pap- until it thickens. Do not cover immediately, leave 4 bout 15mins n cover preferably wit a clean cloth, or if u r usin a plastin cover, dnt cover completely, so dat d steam can stil escape. When it is almost cooled, add the remainin one-third of d ground mixture n stir. Leave it 2 cool completely n sieve with a cloth (d type use 4 sievin corn when it is bein convertd 2 pap). At this point, d kunu suld stil b very thick, u cn dilute it 2 ur thickness, by addin d water u used 2 rinse d bowls durin sievin. Then add sugar 2 ur test n refridgerate nt freeze. Kunu is ready. Its a long process, bt its stil d best method. U myt get oda methods 4m oda members. |
Religion / Re: Is The Holyspirit Really For Speaking In Tongues Alone? by Lyzbet: 7:41am On Oct 23, 2012 |
No, it is nt. Bt in dis day n age, if u dnt speak in tongues, u dnt av d holyspirit. If u read Acts 2 verses 3-11. When d holyspirit filled the first apostles, which was d commencement of tongue speakin, they spoke in other languages such dat people around them undastood wat they were sayin- verse 11, 'we do hear them speak in our tongues d wonderful works of God'. In Paul's books 2 d various churches, whenever he spoke bout tongues, its interpretation followed closely. 1 Cor 14:22 says- Wherefore tongues r 4 a sign, nt 2 them dat blieve, bt 2 them dat blieve nt'. If u speak in a language dat people arnd u cant undastnd, a demon myt as well b speakin thru u. People av spoken in other languages dat they dnt undastnd- a yoruba girl speakin french, a white man speakin igbo- people were arnd them 2 confirm d languages they were sayin nt some blat mat kar shar shar kum li et cetera |

Religion / Re: Have You Ever Been Mobbed By Angels ? by Lyzbet: 6:31am On Oct 07, 2012 |
sadeiyare:I disagree with ur statement dat angels have male n female gender. ANGELS ARE SEXLESS. Matt 22: 30 says it all, 'for in the resurrection, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, bt are as the angels of God in heaven. If there is an angel havin sex with humans, dats a demon, or comin physically n pressin u down in ur room. U need prayers to b delivered 4m such experiences. True angels of God are sexless. Mind u, angels r nt perfect, God n God only is The Perfect One. I dnt kw bout age bt one thing is knw is they r organised in ranks, order or categories. |

Ur soul is ur intellectual aspect, ur will, ur emotions, ur pride, ur achievements, ur thinkin, ur reasonin etc. Ur spirit, as d name implies is ur spiritual aspect. Ur spirit is d only part of u that lives on after ur physical body dies. 7 Likes |
