The hate..the northerners had for GEJ, and how gullible the SW were... For a whole region to b in support buhari(an old man, a dictator, a tribalist,an illiterate over GEJ) just because Tinubu was in support of PMB.
Joke apart, we know GEJ messed up(in some cases) buh yet, can't be compared to what PMB has turned the country into. As big as Nigeria, we couldn't sponsor our Olympic athletes, we couldn't pay the super falcons(because our ministers already wished them to fail...)
Buhari promised to fight corruption, yet, its only the opposition party that's being chased. Buhari has succeeded in causing hate(more hate) BTW tribes... I just wish we can have a president like Umaru Musa Yar'Adua... Because to me. He's the best tin to have happened to Nigeria since 1960(in terms of good qualities of a leader)....

Lastly ...2019 is still far, to start campaigning for atiku... That was how 80% of nairalanders were in support of PMB till we got here.... Atiku is an old man. Pls lets come together and vote a president BTW the range of 40-59yrs ... Lets make Nigeria great again.... We are loosing it seriously ...

Without sentiments, performance has little or nothing to do with age. If buhari wants to perform, all he need to do is to listen to sound advice. He must not know everything. Having the best in every area and following good policies will take Nigeria out of the present economic condition

Excellent development. Thanks to the chieftain for making his house available for people to exercise their rights. Wike's thugs have made areas designated for voting insecure.

Really, how then will the election be free and fair when it is holding in the house of one of the contenders. Will he ever loose such an election. In the presence of violence election should be cancelled. Period. In fact that election should be cancelled because it is marred by violence and misconducts.

1. Yes you can

2. Correct the mistake on the hard copy of the form before submitting. You can as well make a brief note of the mistake for the ECO and attach it to your application

Thank you justwise,

We haven't started the process of the dependant visa yet. The mistake was done while the student spouse was filing the visa application form. In the part for spouse name, the student spouse filled in his own name as the name of the spouse. That was a very sincere but silly mistake. Although a marriage certificate was submitted alongside. Presumably, they would have seen the correct name of the spouse. Fast forward to now, the spouse wants to join as a dependant, will they question why the spouse name didn't appear in the student spouses' application form?
Also, what are the fate of their children can they also come along?

Hello nairalanders,

Happy new month to everyone on this forum wishing you all the best.

I have a question bugging my mind. Can a spouse of a tier 4 (general student) apply for a dependent visa to join the spouse three months after the spouse travelled to uk for schooling? If yes,

Secondly, if while filling the tier 4 student visa, the applicant while filling the name of spouse, mistakenly filled his/ her own name, however attached a marriage certificate to prove that he/ she is married. Will this in any way affect the dependant spouse when applying for a dependant visa.

Note the spouse could not join initially due to work constraint but is free now to join the spouse.

Hello house,

My passport expires June 5, 2017 and I will be applying for a tier4 dependant visa on 23 November, 2016. My question is - Hope my passport expiry date won't affect my application outcome? Or should I get another one before I apply? Av been to the immigration office, they said I can't renew until it is less than 6 months.

2) Can a tier4 dependant use a priority service?

@ just wise and the gurus in the house, pls help

Not claiming to be a guru buh.. As far as your passport has up to 6months validity, you r good to go. No need to renew it. As for priority service, its for anyone that can afford it. All in all go ahead and apply for your visa
Hello Justwise and House...kindly assist with this.
I have been denied US student visa 3 times in the past this year before i decided to opt for UK instead. I have gotten my CAS and i am at the application stage. I know i have to state whether i have been denied visas to other countries before which i have done. My question is this:

1. Will this have any negative effect on my application?
2. Do i need to explain in the space given for additional information?

I will appreciate all the advice i can get.[/

From a first hand experience, it will not actually affect it unless there is more to it like if you were refused on the ground of previous conviction. Before coming to UK, USA embassy refused me visa. Dont panic. Relax and pray. You will get your visa

Thank you for this info. When should I ask for it? I work through an agency

You can get your tax back before April next year, firstly ask your employer to give you tax exemption form to complete and secondly contact hmrc they will refund you all the tax you have paid so far. If you don't contact them they will still refund you after April next year.

Now I understand. This oyibos self. Why is my employer feigning ignorance of the whole process whilst he is a partvof the system I need to reclaim my tax refund?

You're getting this wrong. Tax is deducted based on how much you earn not how many hours you worked. They remove your personal allowance first, then tax you on the remaining amount.
Most students working just 20 hours at minimum wage would not cross the personal allowance mark which is why you think it is because of the hours

Your employer will tax you if there calculations prove so. Confirm with hmrc that your tax code is correct, then wait for the tax year to end before you claim a tax refund. You can only get a tax refund at the end of a tax year.
To see your tax and NI data and possibly claim a refund without waiting for their usual P800 letter, you can register on HMRC platform as an individual.

Now am more confused cry

If you was taxed below 20hrs as a student, and still, go to your employer and make a complaint telling em that you are a student and should not be taxed below 20hrs. They will correct this by contacting HMRC and a new tax numb will be issued to you and the deducted taxed will be refunded. That was how I got mine as I didn't fill any tax form.

I complained to my employers and they said I should sort the tax refund out with hmrc but that they will not tax me again. How do I get my refund?

Yes I have a first hand experience as I worked tirelessly during the 2012 London Olympics. It's even stated on the working conditions of a Tier 4 student visa. During school sessions only work 20hrs, but during holidays, you can work more but will be taxed.

I got that thanks a lot. I was taxed on my first pay. PAYE. I tot its for people that earn more than 11,000 pounds. How do I reclaim my money from hmrc?

And lo and behold, i got up thinking of how the interview will look like and to be honest i was pretty tensed. Thinking of how i will twist my lips and unleash some queen's English. Omor no be small tension grab me like girl wey dey grab shawama. At about 9 am, i got a call from a lady at ukeas informing me that i will need to photocopy my documents and have a passport too but on a second though i contacted Mcstar and she told me she didnt do all that. Well i was like to be on the safe side let me just do photocopies.
Left the house around to 10 to make photocopies but got to some business centres and their machines were all bad...omor na that time i know say the devil wey dey watch me dey watch with better HD and na 3D him dey use sef grin grin. Past ten i still dey waka round dey find where to photocopy and around 10:45am i got a place and make the photocopies of which at the end of the day i didnt submit.
Got a cab to take me to the TLS Abuja and at that point i know the devil had remixed his plan for me that day. I was like e no go happen for you. This cab guy didnt even know where i was going...he was busy taking me round and round as if i came for a tour round Abuja. I kept on telling this young man that i have an interview by 11.30 and need to be there by 11.15. I kept losing patience cos it was beginning to piss me off. by 11:12 i was able to locate the building from afar and thats how we were able to locate the venue. Was supposed to give the guy 300naira but i didnt know when i jumped out of the cab and gave him 200naira and ran straight to the gate.. A couple of guys ran to me all in the name of making photocopies, what was in my mind at that moment was just crazy.
Straight to the interview.. well i checked in then got to the reception and checked in my application form and passport...got all my documents in a bag provided by the staff there. Saw some guys forming janded...some chics forming janded and forming over-Behind.. I was like who out of all these people is a nairalander. i was as mute as a mice. Had my biometrics then went to the waiting room for my interview.
When it got to my turn, i walked majestically like a guy who is walking down the aisle...no be small aisle... tongue tongue..... I walked into the room and sat down, picked up the headset and started the interview with a white guy...probably via skype. I expected the normal though.
- My name and date of birth
- What course i did in my undergraduate
- Why the UK
- Why Coventry
- Did u send in an IELTS or TOEFL (Well i told him i sent in my WAEC)
- and of what relevance the course will be to me.
At the end we exchanged pleasantries, and na so i give the guy better thumbs up unto niggar na...lololzzzzz... and indeed he smiled.

Hopefully am expecting a positive decision Godwilling and surely my transcript will come up once again.

Thanks guys, justwise (my boss wey don dey beef me for months now...I still love u shaa)...olowoB...this dude idi toomuch...Mcstar...inshort na better hussy wey God go dash u soon..will catch u with u soon...MrsDaniels...Inshort na MrsFizzile u supoz dey answer sef.. u toomuch.. If you get a position in a very good company, it is totally worth it. You even have a better chance of getting employed permanently with them.

I would advise to look for a placement when the time comes, if you find a very good one, then switch to sandwich mode immediately.

Justwise talked about most being meager salaries and unpaid. I wouldn't know about that as I actually got a very good contract job with a very good company, and just used it as my placement. My manager was happy to sign it so win win for me

The experience is also worth it for your CV especially if you plan to stay behind

Does it mean I will be the one to look for work placement? I thought the school assists in this

Ok in that case spikec is right.

Regarding work placement...no its not something you should labour that hard for only if you are looking for a way to stay longer in the UK.

You will be very lucky to get a company in your filed, many of them are unpaid and more or less slavery work

The way your school is treating it shows that its not really connected to your course or their own program.

Waow...its OK if that's the case. I don't need to over stress myself if that's the case. I would rather go for my one year and proceed in my career progression through other means. I want to use this medium to thank everyone justwise, spike c, Bourne ccsspatrick et all. I love you all.

So basically you can't add that the moment you get to the UK because you did not indicate that during admission application?

No justwise I can still change in UK and continue my studies buh when my visa expires, I would need to exit, get a new cas, pay the work placement fees and be issued a new visa just like spikec said or I can write school officially from here, get a new Cas and process a new visa to cover for the two years. Because my resumption is close, lemme get to UK and take it from there. Meanwhile I asked a question, who knows about their work placement? Is it something you can advice me to go for despite the additional cost that comes with it? Do you think I should take it or leave it?

For the purpose of benefit to others coming after me, I wish to state that I placed a call to my school today concerning the issue i raised yesterday over work placement and extension of my visa, the school aligned itself with the submission of spicke c. They said that the decision to follow the one year placement should be done at the very beginning which is at the point of admission which will thereafter be reflected on my Cas. As I stand now, I either resume, declare interest in the work placement option which they regard as sandwich and later on leave UK to reapply for another one year or I change my admission entirely and forfeit my admission this year and wait till next year. Men and brethren, I am confused. Spike c, what's the work placement usually like? Lemme know if its worth it.

Yeah, i know. Unfortunately, they've deemed changing to a sandwich degree as a change of course.
The most basic decision they made is, if you're not progressing to a higher level, you must apply from outside.

To enforce this new rule, my university insisted I must have exited the country and sent a proof that I did (POE stamps) before I would be issued a CAS.

I have attached an excerpt of the email notification sent out by the

university.

Spike c I really appreciate maybe its time to put across a call to my school to find out their opinion on this. Meanwhile I reached out to furus who happened to be my classmate (great thanks to nairaland) she explained to me that the choice for the work placement was made by her at the point she applied for admission. I erroneously thought that I will opt for the work placement when I get to school probably during registration. Now that have i realised my mistake, i intend correcting my visa so to accommodate the extra one year for the placement.
And also attached the discussion between UKCISA and UKBA. The link is (http://institutions.ukcisa.org.uk/Info-for-universities-colleges--schools/Info--guidance/tier-4-compliance/2016/) and I just noticed you need to be a member to view it.

If the work placement is in between your course yes you can extend your visa without leaving the UK and you have to also show that you have the money for the remaining time in the UK.

You can also apply within the UK to start a new course without leaving the UK as long as you did that before your current visa expires

Unfortunately, the processing of your application has not been straightforward and we will be unable to decide your application within our customer service targets. We are continuing to work on your application and aim to make a decision as soon as possible.

Has anyone gotten anything like this before ?

From a friend's experience, I think they would want to verify some information you provided which may likely make the process take longer time than the 15day rule. Don't panic. Meanwhile are you a sponsored student? That my friend is tetfund sponsored which made him go with only tetfund sponsorship letter. No money was required to be in his account. For this, they needed to verify both from tetfund and his institution.
