The Niger Delta University is a Bayelsa State owned University located in the Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State. The school address which was earlier Amassoma, the host community was later changed to Wilberforce Island, a name depicting a subset of the community. Currently, the Niger Delta University uses Wilberforce Island as its official address. The incumbent Vice Chancellor of the University is Prof. Samuel G. Edoumiekumo who mounted the leadership of the institution since 2017 as the acting Vice Chancellor but became the substantive Vice Chancellor in 2018. Till date, the VC has been widely acknowledged as the best VC so far the institution has ever had. Although fans of Professor Chris Ikporukpo, a former VC of the institution, still prefer him to the incumbent, the incumbent VC’s administrative policies especially as regards internet inclusions and utility has far surpassed those of Chris Ikporukpo. Faculties and Departments The University runs on eleven (11) Faculties. These are Faculty of Education, Arts, Engineering, Law, Management Sciences, Science, Social Sciences, Agriculture, Basic Medical Sciences, Nursing and Pharmacy. Under the above Faculties, we have about 42 Departments. The list of Faculties and Departments are as follows: Faculty of Education Vocational and Technology Education Arts Education Social Science Education Educational Foundations Science Education Library and Information Science Faculty of Science Biological Sciences Geology Pure and Applied Chemistry (Chemistry) Biochemistry Computer Science Mathematics Physics Faculty of Management Sciences Finance and Banking Office and Information Management Accountancy Business Administration Marketing Faculty of Social Sciences Geography and Environmental Management Political Science Sociology Economics Faculty of Arts Theatre Arts Philosophy Religious Studies Fine and Applied Arts English and Literary Studies History and Diplomacy Faculty of Agricultural Science Fisheries Production Technology Crop Production Technology Econs. & Rural Sociology Livestock Production Technology Faculty of Engineering Agricultural & Environmental Engineering Chemical/Petrochemical Engineering Civil Engineering Electrical/Electronics Engineering Mechanical Engineering Faculty of Law Law Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences Medicine and Surgery Medical Laboratory Microbiology Faculty of Pharmacy Pharmacy Faculty of Nursing Nursing Administration The University administration like many other academic institutions is dichotomized into two administrative dimensions with the Vice Chancellor holding sway to academic administration while the Registrar administers other non-academic concerns. At the lower level, the Faculties are headed by the Deans of Faculties. The Faculties are further subdivided into Departments for easy administration. These Departments are headed by the Heads of Departments (H.O.D.s). The HODs are responsible for the smooth running of academic activities at the Department level. They also apportion courses to individual lecturers. The functions of the HODs also includes: Allocation of courses, Supervision of subordinates, Supervision of examination and grading system Exercise of Discretion Serve as a representative of the Department in various committees he is so nominated For more information about the Deans and HODs, please, visit the Faculty of Education, Niger Delta University portal Administration Admissions The Niger Delta University admits students yearly through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The institution also admits students through Direct Entry. With this provision, students who already have Diploma, NCE, JUPEB or any other equivalent certification can then apply for the Niger Delta University Direct Entry. To apply for admission into the Niger Delta University through JAMB, you will need to purchase the JAMB form upon release. Write and score a minimum of 150 score. 150 is the minimum cutoff score to enable you apply for its Post UTME Examinations. However, 150 May be too small for courses like Medicine and its associates. So, to gain more advantage, endeavour to score 200 and above. This is because those who will score very high are many. Before all those who score high will be selected till it gets to 150, the Department may have been filled, so, scoring very high is very important and advantageous. For Direct Entry (DE), you will also need to buy the Direct Entry form. This form is sold together with the JAMB form. It is always on sale around December through February of every academic session. Once purchased, JAMB sends your form to the NDU for consideration. For JUPEB students in the NDU, they will also need to purchase the form to enable them to be considered for admission. Merely undergoing JUPEB does not guarantee admission. You must also buy DE form as you are undergoing the JUPEB programme. School Fees The school fees of the Niger Delta University vary from Department to Department or from course to course. This variation is as a consequence of the needs of various courses. Succinctly put, the lowest school fees for year one is N110,000. This is for indigenes, while the highest is N200,000 for non-indigenes. On the other hand, the lowest school fees for final year is N35,000. Detailed information about the Niger Delta University school fees can be viewed and downloaded here Hostel Accommodation The Niger Delta University provides comfortable hostel accommodation for its teeming students at a very cheap rate. For hostel accommodation, the cost for last two session through this session was N15,000 and N17,000. Previously, you have to go to the office of the Dean of Students’ Affairs, collect hostel form, go to the bank and pay the 15,000, then you will come to the café and do online registration. After about a week or so, you will check back in your online profile. If you have been allocated, it will appear. Then you will print the form out which will contain your passport. You will take the hostel form to the hostel you are allocated and show it to the hostel warder who will show you to your room. Hostel allocation is done based on the Faculty you are. Main campus students are not allocated to CHS hostels. Conversely, CHS students are not allocated to Main campus hostels unless hostels are filled up or such CHS student is a year one student who take lectures in Main Campus. Currently, the registration process has been changed. Everything now works online and in realtime. You pay and immediately get allocated. The Following are the expected cost and processes involved in the final year students’ clearance across all Faculties and programmes. Note however, that costs difers from Faculties to Faculties. For example, the Faculty of Education have 6 Heads of Departments and all these Heads of Departments have to sign the clearance form. Meanwhile, Faculty of Law have only 1 Department and only one head of department will sign. Since each HOD takes approximately N3,000 for two realm of A4 papers to sign, this means that Law students will spend just N3,000 while Education students will pay N18,000 to sign. So, these are the expected differentials in the clearance process. Actual Cost Below are the actual cost of students’ final year clearance in the Niger Delta University (Faculty of _ _ _ as a case study. This Faculty have 6 departments). AVOIDING MINOR PITFALLS By: Michael O. Jules July 25th, 2019 In one of my previous publications on easy ways to get admission, which is precisely the fist volume, with this being the updated/volume II, I had outlined five key advantageous and salient points that can project a candidate and put him at a vantage point. However, in this publication, the attention is on legal tactics, tactical maneuvering and manipulations that can push a jambite chances upward. Remember that there are no pre-admitted students, so, whether you will be admitted or not basically depends on established criteria, emerging phenomenon and possibly administrative disposition at the time of selection. One thing to bear in mind however, is that many applicants are vying for limited space, therefore, it is not always possible to admit all students. So, seeing things from this perspective, it can be said that admission is one big battle. Many are applying for competitive programmes like Medicine, it is not always possible to get those courses. Sometimes, it can be due to performance deficit, availability of spaces, and so on. So, applicants must learn to bear in mind, the possibility of an alternate course. If however, you cannot offer another course other than that which you initially chose, especially when you are vying for Medical courses, it may mean another year of trying for you. So, performance, luck and prayers all work together to make you scale through. Let us now discuss step by step, the various manipulations in admission processing. 1. Apply for all the Available Options in a Session You see, only those who must have had a hard time getting admission may understand this point. After all, if I write jamb and score very high, I will surely get admission, new jambites may think. But not everyone often have that luck per se. For me, admission did not really suffer me. In 2008, I got admission even as it was my first, but unfortunately, I got a Pass in Mathematics, hence, I forfeited the admission making me attempt for a second time in 2009 where I studied Business Education and graduated in 2013/2014. So, I had a soft landing when it came to admission matters. But if admission has been difficult for you, then you really want to try this option. This means you have to buy JAMB form and write the exam. Also, you have to purchase Predegree form too. Although many persons had criticized the predegree programme for reasons best known to them, I have always seen students admitted through Predegree, hence, in a bid to ensure admission once and for all, it is recommended to use all the available options though it may be costlier. Predegree is a one year intensive programme whose certificate (JUPEB) helps you to gain admission into year two. This is to say even if JAMB admission to 100 level fails, you will then start the Predegree programme while your colleagues who were lucky with admission also starts year one. By the time they are entering year two, you are done with Predegree, and being admitted into year two with them. So, it looks as if nothing was lost. While hoping that JUPEB certificate will do you good in year two, it is also expedient to purchase JAMB form again together with your hope of admission into year two. All these are money consuming… but are you put money ahead of your admission? That is incredulous! To fully understand what I just describe above, let me conceptualize the story as follows: Read more at: http://admissionsandutme.com/2019/07/18/how-to-get-admission-easily-volume-ii/ |

A transcript is a compilation of your academic performance all through your stay in a higher institution of learning. Simply put, it is the combination of all your results from first semester year one to second semester in final year. A transcript is needed when you are going for higher studies to ascertain your level of acclaimed undergraduate performance by the new institution granting you admission. It may also be used by companies employing you to access your level of performance while in school. To get your transcript in the Niger Delta University, simple steps are followed. First is payment of transcript fees. The payments are divided as follows: 1. Within NDU – 5,000 2. Outside NDU but within Nigeria – 20,000 3. Outside Nigeria – 50,000. Since the current Vice chancellor took over management mantle in the school, the non-academic staff have not known peace. They have never known rest of mind. This is because the government has through the current managerial structure infiltrated the ranks of the academicians. Today, it is either a list of redeployment or retrenched staff was released or protest against one thing or the other. Everyday at work, stories, rumours and news of one thing or the other are carried. Their work security has been highly threatened. This has led to series of protests.
