Patient with Afribank. I think its coming close to make its rise. From the way it was loosing 5% daily since after TS was lifted.I expected it would shed all the weight by monday, but it didn't.Its trying to shed that 5% weight it was suppose to shed on monday in small fractions. If it falls tomorrow again,i think that will be its last fall for this week. They won't even want the price of the stock to fall below offer price. That na psychological disaster.
If it falls tomorrow again,i think it should support itself there.

Thanks for the consolation bro undecided

Did a post-graduate diploma @ Ife '91 its now OAU innit?(the most beautiful campus in Africa not sure what it looks like now!)

Believe me it still is, no body can afford to spend such money like was spent in Ife on the structures in the days of the cocoa boom again, all that is needed now is to keep the environment clean,

My dear People,

I miss una oh, men na serious battle with my pc virus for the second time this year on a new laptop.I press F8 select "last known configuration" the thing no gree start again.Kai see trouble.Luckily i had saved my docs(particularly my SPREADSHEET MONEY) in another flashdrive.I had to format the system and reload the pc with xp2 and other softwares. To even find nairaland and last page was wahala. But thankGod i'm back. Men be carefull about those so called "TROJAN HORSES".Computer demons.
@ Temmie10
Thanks for your short term analysis on page 210.For someone staying outside this country you have a strong antenna in knowing exactly where the money resides in NSE.
@ ololufemi
You hit the nail on the head with your last post on page 211.If you've noticed, i've never engaged in breaking my back teeth (number crunching)
except absolutely necessary.I hardly get caught up by bears,if i'm caught, i should be under the soil they stand(low price) and not directly under their
  claws.
@ yodiyokun
I'm watching UBA closely. One cannot predict the lowest of the low for the price, but things happen Thursday/Friday for me.
I'll be taking my position soon, lets watch.A lot of people will be travelling on the 21st and will need some money (UBA may be part of it). Also
i'll prefer the week before the actual payment date.
  1. Many people travel more for Newyear than Christmas and will need money then(28th/29th).
  2. Also after riding the wave of those who want to collect dividend, you can sell just before closure date, hopefully price will fall and hopefully by
January ending/sometime in february UBA should declare its 1st quarter result for year 08 ( yet another wave to ride).
@Windywendy
I don't personally make 25% every single week but many speculators do.Sometimes its three/four weeks, but i try to ensure i'm making money every
month. Do you know if you start with N25m in January and set a conservative target of 25% every quarter(4 quarters total), you'll end up with N61m by year end
with compounding. Each year the cycle repeats itself you just need to know how to ride it from experience.
@ All
I want you to take a note of all that has happened in the NSE in the last 4-5months and watch the NSE same time nextyear and you'll see how trends
repeat themselves in the NSE( Old habits die hard).

Guess it means that generally, one should wait till that last week in the year to make a choice, most should be on their lowest prices for the month right?

I honestly commend your trend seeking analysis.
But there is one fatal flaw here. A lot of technical analysts make this same mistake. Its called optimization.
It would have been impossible to consistently sell at the highest price in march.
How do u know what the highest price in march will be?
e.g what will be the highest price of gtb for thisdecember?, see where i am coming from?

Having said that, if what u meant was lowest price in march, u would well have a point and it could well be worth it as the fundamentals may just pick up.

cheers

I get what u're sayin, would make more sense making the assumption that u bought @ d highest in Nov. & sold @ d lowest in march, i'll use those figures now to c if it'll still ve a reasonable return historically.

@model1780 and spice
Its not a crime to expect huge gains from the market in a short period of time, niether is it a sin.
You just have to understand that its potentially riskier than if you had a longer time frame.
Also you need to be ready to cut losses and move to the next best thing if the situation of things change.
I have a few suggestions on potential 25%s between now and March, for you based on today's closing prices,
but bear in mind that the risk is on you:

banking: Access, Diamond, Wema
insurance: Unic, MBenefit, Aiico
Others: First Aluminium, AGleventis, Berger, DNMeyer,

You need to keep a close eye on the market, FirstAluminium for instance is a great cyclical stock, its currently at 2, anywhere from 2.3 to 2.5 and above is a good exit point, if u play it right, u could even get less than 2 and go in and out a couple of times (the trading range could well change but thats y u should keep an eye on the market).
Diamond and Access should pick up soon, wema is on TS but its not rocket science to smell whats cooking.

Tnx bro, what about GTB, did a trend analysis for the past 5 year, buying at the highest price in nov & selling @ d highest price in March the next year, the least return was in 2002 with 28.57%. Is there any other reason why one cannot buy GT bank now?

You also need to calculate the 50-day CSMA/CDMA and if the 10-day CSMA is higher than the 50-Day CSMA that is definitely an indication that the price will trend higher but if the other way round then you may need to look for something else to put your money in. This is the most relevant usage for exponential moving averages(i'm assuming you are using exponential moving averages as opposed to linear)

Please is there any site where I can get to learn about these CSMA/CDMA terms very very well, i'll like to know how to make use of them to determine shares to go for, tnx.

Interesting piece on Globe Re

http://www.proshareng.com/myproshare/portal_articles.php?id=1341

If First Bnak is really buying inyo Globe RE, I expect them to get their license back. The NAICOM Chairman being a former MD of Globe Re, the current minister of State for finance being a former Executive Director of First Bank just makes this scenario plausible.

Please which shares can one buy now if lookin @ a return of lik2 25% in the next 90 days?

Kai 25% a month shocked, omo u might just have to reduce that amt quite a bit and extend it to say 25% in 3 mths or 50% in 6-9mths. If we all knew what could get us an easy guaranteed at least 25% EVERY mth, we would be dumping our money there cheesy

So which shares can u suggest that can give a return of 25-30% in at most next 90 days?
