Jayvallia:
I got a denial in 2017 when I applied for an undergraduate degree. The denial was based on credibility, they didnt think I was a genuine student. Now I tried to apply for a masters to Coventry. The Nigerian rep of Coventry said i should forget UK and try another country. That once you get denied based on credibility you can't get a Visa subsequently. Is this true?

Hey.....

I honestly don't believe the rep is in any position to say that to you. I'd try and talk to the school directly if you can. Yes, denial based on credibility ll make is harder for you to secure a visa (not impossible) compared to others.

I'd think that all you gotta do is show that you are a genuine student and find the refusal letter from the previous application. Find out the reasons they gave for the refusal and also find out if they suggested other documents you could have added to show that you was a genuine student. Should you find these, then you could add them in the current application and hope fore the best.

The rep is just a rep for Coventry Uni, he/she is not the home office so for he/she to say "forget UK and try another country" is arrogant and wrong IMO.

Good luck...

STENON:
Thanks alot bro. I just rechecked google now and saw that Teaching was not mentioned as part of the prohibited jobs on tier 4 visa.

Teaching is a very good job in UK, Physics and maths teachers are currently on high demand now.
The above tests are not required for the full registration except one is unable to provide some documents like uknaric, TRCN certificate, etc . My UKNARIC statement of comparability has done justice to the literacy and numerical aspect of the registration.

If you have 100% checked and made sure you are allowed to do teaching then absolutely why not...

Another thing to consider is, if you are gonna be teaching via an agency, most agencies (not all) I know would employ you on a self employment basis. Make sure you don't sign up for one of those. You are absolutely correct, physics are maths teachers are on high demand in schools and if their is one job you could retain after your masters to enable you get your residency, it's that job.

Finally, this is the site where I saw the prohibited jobs for tiar 4 students (https://www.bath.ac.uk/corporate-information/work-you-are-allowed-to-do-on-your-full-time-tier-4-visa/) it's at the very bottom of the list so you can easily miss it.

I hope it all works out well for you bro, peace...

STENON:
Thanks bro. I am on long vacation at my Uni here from may till september so I can work for full time. I am working as a private home tutor with a tutoring agency here and they also assisted with the GCTS certification. The plan is to be a Physics supply teacher to school and be on 20 hours contract as from september 2019. But my people are saying its against the immigration law to work as a Teacher.

Hey, your people aren't wrong per se.. I'd be very careful taking a teaching job cos just before I started typing this reply, I was researching on prohibited jobs for tier 4 students. I have to tell you, teaching did come up as one of the prohibited ones.

If I was you, I'd go into Google and search "jobs you can and canNOT do on a tier 4 visa.

On a good note, teaching is a very good job here and if you are allowed to take up teaching, securing a teaching job should not be too much of a problem as long as you pass the Professional Skills test, which is usually in literacy and numerical form.

Good luck....

Why are you complaining because the UK govt wants people coming into their country to get checked up for diseases like TB which is problem in Nigeria? Canada started it years before the UK and the same case with Australia. South Africa ask for yellow fever certificate and its not free, they are trying to protect their own people and foreigners leaving in their country, so why are you complaining?
If that's what you honestly believe then that's alright..

Stand up to Nigerian govt first before moaning about the UK govt, stand up for endemic corruption in Nigeria, you can't even stand up to your local MP let alone ranting about TB certificate. Did you stand up for fuel subsidy and what was the outcome? You don't have to study in the UK, why did you not invest that money in some of Nigerian universities?
oga if you honestly believe what you are saying then you will believe anything. UK govt is nothing compared with Nigerians no doubt but that does not mean that if something is not right i lk agree with it cos they ve got good govt. Its bad enough to ask students to go for a Tb test as if that's not enough they ask them to pay 20000 naira for a Tb test. Something you and i know its very wrong! I wonder why they never ask them to submit a HIV test result even when they know that its very common in nija. Nigerian govt is bad yes i know that and so what?

First time visitors to the UK are not paying £3000, get that right.
regardless of what anyone thinks. The fact remains we can drag it all we want. That's the reason why its like that at the first place because most of us are full of bullshits and prefer kissing the back side instead of standing up.

That as it may be. Its worth thinking but at the same time i know of students that schooled in Germany' and they are far competitive interms of out put and they both speak german and english language and can tell you they are verry good enginers today.
The problem with we Nigerians is that we don't want to tell our selves the truth. Despite the fact that deep down inside we know the truth, but most of what we say is crap. We open our arms and welcome anything said to us weather good or bad. Meanwhile without international students most of the unis here will close down. Its simple, this is just a way of exploiting and frustrating Nigerian students simple because they don't want them here. People can go on and paint it any way they want, try to make it sound better all they want at the end of the day the point remains that vast population or not hiv or not the whole thing is pure bullshit. That was how they placed a £3k embargo on first time visitors and nothing was done about it.

So a total of 150k plus is needed to make a tier 4 application. The British government is in no way bettter than the Nigerian goverment in terms of making life difficult for people. Didn't tbey realize that we tier 4 students contribute to their economy due to educational tourisim. Things has really got to change as we can not continue to be exploited like this.

Yea Nigeria is not on the list but then its right on the first paragraph before you even get to the list. I understand your frustration matter of fact we all are but the bottom line is, if they say you should do it just do it they just want to make it very difficult for Nigerian students for a reason only them knows. But i will advise you to do it cos if you went through all the stress of paying the school fees, living some in your account, visa fees and even ready to buy a ticket that mean you are determined to study and plz don't let the 22k ruin all that for you. Just do it and it will catch up with them one day.

Guzye: Please while filling the online visa form on the new UKBA website, these two questions are confusing me :- Please does anyone know how best to answer it?

Do you have any remaining fees and maintenance still due for payment? and
What original documents has been supplied showing evidence of funds for the fees that still need to be paid?
Re to the remaining fees, that includes your school fees, accommodation. I.e if you paid half of your tuition then the other half is a part of the remaining fees so goes for accommodation as well.
Re to the original documents supplied, it is your bank statement showing the money you ve held in your account for 28days.

Ok, i dnt need to be physically in d UK to know this is a bunch of overated bullshiiit.
when was d last time u used a nigerian issued mastercard, 10, 15 years ago?
which cards do not fail? cos its nigerian?
the best thing for her is to carry some cash, simple. You won't tell me all 4 cards from differient banks would fail her at the same time.

coming to food, MOST foodstuffs from Africa are accepted. they only have problem with liquid stuffs.
The reality is dat u pay tax if some foodstuffs crossed a certain weight limit cos they see it as likely to be sold.

@bunberized; go through the other uk thread from the beginning to like page 30. thats where u'll find most of wat u're looking for. you can carry ur stockfish but make sure u seal it very well. a lady talked about sealing options there too.
You can also take grinded foodstuffs like egusi, ogbono etc.
Am on mobile now, will post u a document on foodstuffs u can take and cannot take, gotten from ukba.

just give me d address of ur restaurant wen u get to UK grin
Also tell her that the world will be hers when she gets there. no disrespect man but i think you ll be better off if you do more reading than talking cos clearly you never read what i wrote or maybe you did and just didn't understand it. if you ll take one more look at what i wrote am sure i wrote something like "Re you bank cards, they will work perfectly okay in the cash machines as long as your bank in Nigeria will provide excellent service" does the phrase 'As long as' ring any bell? probably not. it doesn't mean her card wont work, its just a way to tell her that she needs more cash more than she needs her card cos the card might not be available all the time. but you couldn't read between the lines could you? Then you went on to ask "which card do not fail"? "cos its Nigerian"? so for some reason you think i said it cos its Nigeria? if you honestly think so then my bro you need to grow up!
Re to the food stuffs, i honestly hope you do know what you are saying for her sake.

I understand there are shops in Manchester that will sell african foodstuffs but at what extra cost.
Does a kg of stockfish in UK sells at same price as a kg of stockfish in Nigeria?
My point is that if I can manage a reasonable amount of food items that is within my baggage weight limit it will be foolish not to take advantage of it as I may have to buy same in the UK for probably an extra N100 or more.
I am definitely not planning on taking 20kg of stockfish but I will try to carry some as well as other food items that my total 46kg baggage weight allowance can accommodate.
My clothes and other items excluding food items won't even weight 10kg so it is only fair I stock on foodstuffs to make up the balance.
Seriously, I am thinking of throwing in another piece of baggage(23kg) as the excess baggage is charged per piece of 23kg weight and it cost a meager £60.
The only reason I will not go with much foodstuffs is if the prices over there in the UK compares favorably with those in Nigeria.
Finally, if I decide to carry foodstuffs from Nigeria it will be to my advantage as my parents will buy them without recourse to my maintenance money but if I choose to buy anything in the UK it is my responsibility as they say I already have my maintenance funds.
Alright listen up i will state the obvious for you now and you will understand it once you get over to UK.
Re you bank cards, they will work perfectly okay in the cash machines as long as your bank in Nigeria will provide excellent service. The first issue i had in the UK when i first got here was with my Nigerian master card, it wont complete my transaction after i finished shopping in a shopping mall and trust me you don't wanna go through that moreover the charges it will attract will be extremely high because you will be forced to pay some bills with your card even in shops. talk about foodstuffs.. Seriously you could get screwed at the airport. Might not be in Nigeria but in UK. They don't take most food stuffs especially ones from Africa lightly. Matter of fact you might even end up paying a fine for it. If there is one thing you need here it Money!! Not food stuffs

I will go with a maximum of £3000. Any need declaring this?
What period should the bank statement cover? Is it same one I used for my application or current one? I asked cause my balance during application was well over 4million but currently it stands at 2m plus.
If I am going with £3000 should I deduct that from the current balance (which would mean the final balance will be less than the £7200 maintenance needed)?
Please clarify the above.
no need declaring £3k. Take the same bank statement you submitted your application with. Put it in your bag and don't give it unless they ask.

bunburized: I am in the final stage of preparation to start my masters program. I want to know if there is need for concern at the point of entry.
For those who have passed through this stage what documents do I need to pack in my hand luggage for easy access?
I also want to know if there are questions they may ask me at the point of entry and also if I still need to make a print of my statement of account to take along as proof that my maintenance fund is intact.
Finally, how much will be reasonable to carry along in cash when leaving? I am yet to rent an apartment and hope to do that when I arrive school. I was thinking of traveling with £3,000 or more so I can cover my rent asap and not contending with the minimum daily withdrawal using my naija mastercard which may ultimately take 4-5days to access such amount hence making my accommodation hunt a challenge.
take your bank statement, you may or may not need it. If you will be taking more that £5k do not fail to declear it on Nigeria airport before leaving other wise you may stand a chance of loosing it on arrival.

I need advise on this pls...
general visa requirements differs..... So goes fir the maintenance fund too, it depends on where your uni is. If it is in inner London then you need £9000 + whatever is remaining on your school fees but if its in outer london then you need £7200+ the reminder of your school fees too. So check and see if your school is outer or inner London. If not, then write the name of your school and we ll help check it out for you.

when you say least requirement, i assume you mean education qualification(s) so with that, the least requirement is your WAEC. Bad thing is you cant get a degree admission with that alone, but you will be able to get into a foundation course with that then you can go on to get into a degree course if you pass the foundation.
