I used the old portal. But I see a lot of people saying the new portal is faster.

But don’t worry, anytime now yours will come through with good news.

Juliusmar10:
you submitted your application in May and got a medical request in June? I submitted mine in April and I am still awaiting a review. Did you use the old
Or the new portal? Because I used the new.

Yesso I did, it’s only God. I originally applied in March 2021 last year for a 4 years bachelors degree and got approved in August 2021. I went to Canada in December 2021 and decided to change my course and school, so the best option was to return back home to reapply.

Also I wanted to include my husband in my second application, so I just closed my eyes and left it to God.

And to God be the glory because I got approved again and so did my husband.

Kelabea:
Wait are u saying… u got 2 study visa approval for urself in a span of 1 year?

Why did u apply again? (Answer this one first please )

Timeline:
I sublimed our application on the 1st of May. During that time, we just continued life like normal, we were prepared for the worst which was a rejection and not the end of the world. On the 13th of June, I got a medical request, I noted I had already submitted that but turns out I couldn’t use the old one since it would expire before I planned to leave the country. So I booked another appointment, I got 14th of July, which was a day over the 30 days. We got no information on my husband, and I won’t lie I was scared.
14th of July I did my medicals with IOM Lagos, it was a long ass day and a hassle honestly, the first time I did it, I used Qlife which was 100% better and faster. My medicals was updated and passed on the 28th of July, and I got a ppr for myself on August 3rd and my husband got his today I am over the moon right now, I just had to share this for those that need the push.

Documents included
- 2 separate LOE (I listed the travel itinerary in my husband’s letter, he planned to stay 10 days, so I included step by step what we planned to do during those 10 days)
- My Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree
- Admission letter + first semester deposit (used tradesystems to pay, that one too took forever)
- Marriage certificate
- Pictures of us from when we started dating in 2012 vs 2022 including wedding day with people in the background
- Affidavit of support and business incorporation from sponsor
- Sponsor’s bank statement personal and business total 28m
- My business bank statement 1m balance (turnover of 80m for 6 months)
- My husband’s personal 5m and Business bank statement 10m with business turnover of 115m for 6 months
- Travel history for my husband and stamp pages (France, turkey and Dubai)
- Medicals for both of us (but I had to do another)
- Business incorporation for the both of us
- Pictures of our business Instagram pages
- Pictures of us outside Nigeria
- Birth certificate to prove relationship with sponsor
- IELTS result (don’t think it was necessary but couldn’t leave anything to chance)

MsLoolah:
PPR!!! Long post alert…
I am updating because I said I would after I decide on what to do.

I came here in March to ask for advice about my situation. I got a study permit approval last year August but I wanted to change schools, I learned I would need to reapply again or take a semester then Change schools. I wrote a lengthy message explaining my situation, I explained that I didn’t want to waste 1st semester fees of over 2.7m in a school and degree I wasn’t interested in any longer. I also explained I would like to go with my husband but he kept getting refused. So I planned to reapply again with him as accompanying since I had better chances of getting a visa.

After explaining my ordeal on here, I got different responses from people. Some were helpful but others were just trying to scare me. I had one person say I wanted to reapply again for a man, I had another saying I should waste 2.7m that so many people would kill to be in my shoes (I do not dispute that), I had another saying I was lucky to even have a visa and when I explained I had enough documents to ensure I was given and ofocourse God, they resulted to saying I was bragging.

I won’t lie, I was crippled with fear for 2 months not knowing what to do. I spoke with my mum and she said to me, ‘they have no reason to refuse you’, ‘if you wanted to stay there illegally, which is one of the main reasons they refuse people, then you would have used the visa already granted to stay’, they can’t separate you and your husband it just doesn’t make sense. She said ‘reapply again, and explain to them you do not wish to be separated from your husband and why you want to purse this new shorter course’ so I got up and did just that.

I wrote a 2 page LOE for myself and a 2 page LOE for my husband accompanying visiting visa. I made sure to include every single documents they would need to understand I was going to further my career for my business and why I need my husband to have access to me whenever he pleases. I used my mum as my sponsor and my business as ties to my homes country. Prior to applying for the previous visa my husband didn’t have a travel history, but during those 2 months, we applied and got a Schengen visa, we visited France, Istanbul and went to Dubai. We do not have any landed properties, both our businesses served as ties to our home country.

We submitted, we waited and we prayed. I got my PPR last week, already sent my passport and today my husband got his. This platform is really helpful and can aid a lot of applications and questions you may have. But do not let their opinions decide what you want to do, they would project their fears on you and if you are not strong minded you will succumb to it. I understand they have seen or heard their fair share of reasons for refusals but that’s not you. If you don’t try you will never know. I almost left Nigeria, I won’t lie. I almost left my husband behind hoping to see him when I have a break or when IRCC decides to grant him a visa. But thank God I didn’t. I know my story is different to a lot of people but let it serve as motivation to gather all the information from this platform, get all your documents right and just submit that application. You might it get a refusal which can be very heart breaking but guess what? You could also get an approval. You just have to keep trying.

I will be posting the timeline and documents shortly.

Thank you so much for this. I have read everyone’s responses and honestly I get where they are all coming from. When I said my credentials got me my visa, I didn’t mean it in a boasting way, it’s just I had quite a compelling documentation.

I have a bsc, masters, I also own my own a fashion business that isn’t doing bad at all, I added my financial statement for my business, my LOE explained I needed to further my education in order to grow my business. I had 8 in ielts which I also added, I had my mum as a sponsor, she included her personal and company statement as well as landed properties, I have 2 siblings currently studying in the country. I didn’t use my husband as a tie to the country, I used my business hence why I stated my credentials helped.

But I see how that could come out boastful. I know some people have similar documentation and still got refused, however I don’t want to make a decision based on fear.

When I make my decision I will definitely updated the group so people can learn from it. It’s a risk but I think it’s one I am willing to take.

If I reapply, I probably wouldn’t add him and he can apply for a visiting just like someone else advised me on here.

And If I don’t get it, not the end of the world.

Osemigho:

I see others have responded. My advise is no much different. There is an element of luck and grace in Canada student visa. The fact that you even get it for a bachelor's when you have a masters is luck mehn. Yes, your UK profile is very good, but you were still lucky. I think We have past applicants with your profile and full scholarship that was denied on the basis that applicant only have student visa (temporary stay) in UK. I have also supported another applicant on UK student visa that came to Canada to do another masters. So, no two app is the same.

The decision is yours and I wish you the best of luck. If you plan to reapply, make sure you submit the best application and argument for your case. Yes, you can add your husband to your application, but tighten all his profile weaknesses. As you mention he doesn't have any travel history unlike you. So make sure his ties to Nigeria are very strong and convincing.

The truth I won't take the risk if I were you. Will another Nigerian guy with your husband profile risk it? That's a question for another day.

It is possible that you get your visa again and again. So, do it if you're 100% convinced that it is what you want to do. Best, you and your husband get it. Worst you don't. Life is all about risk. If you can take the best and worst case scenario, there is nothing to be afraid of.

Whatever the outcome of your next application, please share your experience and documentation when you get the result. We will like to learn from your experience. It seems the new portal is faster. You can use you that to get a quick decision. All the best.

Truth is,no one(as much I have read)has gone that route, the ones who even considered anything close, didn’t come back to share what they even did or how it turned out. This is not to sound ‘somehow’ seems your mind is made up,please update us,we’ll like to learn.Best wishes.

Yes I figured no one has a definite response for me other than asking me to spend 2.7m on an education I wouldn’t be able to transfer or use in the future based on fear I might not get the visa. I didn’t get the first visa based on luck, I got it based on my credentials so honestly I don’t see a reason why I shouldn’t get it again.

I would definitely update on the decision I make and the outcome for people who are in my predicament in the future.

Thank you

What if I don’t add him? But still change my school?? Because honestly I understand people wanting me to pay the 2.7m school fees I won’t be using in the future, but it’s a lot of money.

If I don’t add him but change my school and re apply for the visa, then he applies for Sowp. Would that work?
Osemigho:

It might be too late. I assume the candidate admission was for January 2022 and the candidate did not register for any course to aviod wasting money. Course registration will probably have ended as this is February. If course registration is still open, then the candidate is "lucky" because the door is still slightly open.

All in all, opportunity often comes once in a life time. If this one Don go, they are back to the visa prayer and at the mercy of God to have a good visa officer again. I wish her question was one month earlier. It is never too late and they can receive a miracle again.

By the way, I checked the candidate previous posts. She have bsc and msc already and going for bachelors degree. Her UK profile is very good, and that might have given her an edge and less scrutiny. Candidate hubby probably didn't have that UK profile and current Nigerian destiny (economic and financial situation) hold am down.

Their next visa officer fit dey ask why, why, why for her previous decision and if the next application is genuine. Plus insisting she want to add her hubby, with previous red applications, in a new student visa app will raise a lot of red flags with home tie, purpose, etc.

If she stayed in CAN and apply for her hubby, they for give am SOWP with her newly wedded story, genuine relationship and hubby good business in Nigeria. We just have to give best advise and wish her the best in the next application.

Thank you for this response.

I registered for classes already I just haven’t paid yet. Tuition is due on the 16th of feb. my husband is a first time traveler, my fear was based on the numerous complaints about back log and delays for the Sowp. I really don’t want to be alone without him for too long based on the backlogs. That’s why I was thinking of adding him to my new application.

Hello, oh nooo I didn’t drop out. I even registered for 2 classes and both are online, but I haven’t paid yet. Tuition is due on the 16th of feb.

Just wanted to look at my options.

Osemigho:

Hi,

study permit has an element of luck and grace. I wish you asked first before dropping out. I would have advise you to waste that 2m and work full time in summer to recover it. The courses wont waste because you may be able to transfer them to your preferred diploma. Many aren't lucky twice, but you can.

You have to explain why you didn't attend your last school and why you are going for something lower this time. The visa officer may doubt your finances and purpose. So make sure your finances are tight and your letter of explanation is excellent. Applying with your husband, where you don't have a child or children that he will taking care of, may be hard to sell. Your finances and home tie must also be excellent. All the best.
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 21 by MsLoolah: 10:50am On Feb 07, 2022
Thank you for responding.

I know it’s a tight call, that’s why I am checking all possible route before taking this step.

My options are to either attend and pay for a semester at a school I don’t want to go to and waste 2 million naira, then my husband applies for a SOWP, reapply without attaching my husband, after being granted he would then apply for sowp or add him to my new application.

At this point, I am at a cross road.
Perfectyyyyyy:
This is a very tight call and bold decision. I just hope they reconsider your next application and grant you a study permit on the ground of good conduct or character. Honestly, you are the only person I have heard off that entered Canada and returned back to Nigeria to apply again for study permit after the first application was granted. Your best bet remains leaving your spouse behind. That amongst others could be one of the main reasons for your previous visa approval. Unless you have lots of established home ties, applying with your husband may weaken your application.

According to everything I have read so far, and based on personal situations, it would be advisable to add your personal finances and assets even if you won’t be sponsoring yourself. You should try to add pay slips from the company or the account the company pays into.

If you can, get someone to send you some money and do a gift deed certificate on the money so there is something in your account.

They always want you to demonstrate personal finances and assets no matter what.

Julmbachu:
Good morning house, pls I’m about to submit my application my place of work is sponsoring me, and they hv provided all documents required of a sponsor, including payment of my first semester tuition of 9800 CAD. On my own part I do not have any physical cash but I hv landed properties & my immediate family here as home ties. Now my concern is that, is it necessary I submit my SOA where my salary is been paid even though there’s no money in it? Is it important to have my own personal money or gift deed as POF too? My admission is in May, is it wise to defer it till September to enable me raise money or I should depend solely my sponsor’s SOA. Pls I need your advice gurus in the house as this would enable me make this decision of submitting the application or deferring the admission @Makano @ketima @@frankrobbn1 @lekiboboe @ anon123 and other gurus pls help a sister

Oh no I meant error from the ukvi agent, we included the company statement through bank but he didn’t bother to check that. He only checked personal statement.

headhoncho:
Sorry about that. I suggest you reapply without using an agent and address the error. Agents are mostly parasites to applications. They are mostly of more harm than good. Just apply yourself, all the information you need are freely available here

All the best.

Good morning all,

Please I need the gurus in the house to help me out here.

My husband and I applied separately for a Canadian student Visa last year, he was refused in May, but I was approved in June.

We applied for the second time for his as he would like to further his education as well, he doesn’t have a BSC and would like to get one. We included everything possible, however this time instead of his brother sponsoring him, he is sponsoring himself, we included what he’s been doing since graduating secondary school and what he is doing now, with strong SOP but was refused again.

Now we have been advised to apply for a spousal open work permit (sowp), once I get my study permit and then he can come and join me. I also ordered for the gcms so we can see what we are missing.

I traveled to Canada in December to obtain a study permit, on getting there I found a school I prefer much more than the one I initially applied with, I applied for a 4 yr bsc even though I already have a masters, but it’s a different degree. Now I found a shorter version of the course which is 2 years diploma.

I applied to the school and I am awaiting decision, however the school resumes in sept 2022 which exceeds the 150 day out of school rule, so I can’t change my dli on the portal. Instead, I came back to Nigeria as I didn’t want to violate any rules while I await response for the school and re apply for a new study visa.

Now my question is, can I include my husband in this new application as accompanying and apply for a SOWP without it affecting my decision because I don’t want to do this without him, we have been married not even 2 years and I am dreading separating from him.

Also we have ordered the gcms notes and should get it before the new application, that way we can see the issue on his applications.

I have a good travel history and my bsc and msc is for a uk university, I also have an active 10 year Uk visa.

I just need to know if we should go ahead with our decision or any advice that can be rendered will be very much appreciated.

Thank you in advance

Good morning guys,

My husband got his refusal letter 2 weeks ago but is yet to get a passport collection mail, is it advisable to pop down to the Ikeja Centre and check if his passport is Available?? And if it is, what time should we be there for fast response?

Also he was refused based on error made by the officer that handled his application. They stated he didn’t show his financials and his business and we most certainly did, we don’t have rights to request a review or an appeal. Please what can we do next? I don’t think it’s fair. We included everything, even my own 10 year visa and marriage certificate, his company’s financial statement with balance of 6m, his personal statement with balance of 2.5m, CAC, sale receipts, wedding pictures, hotel reservations, tax, but was refused based on an error we can’t contest.
