Governor Samuel Ortom, Gov Of Benue State has insisted that the agenda of Fulani herdsmen in Nigeria is to conquer the entire nation. Gov Ortom, while speaking with BBC pidgin at the weekend, said he has documents to back up his claims. According to him, the Fulani Nationality Movement who claimed responsibility for his recent attack, said that Nigeria is their only country. Ortom said, “Fulani Nationality Movement, FUNAM were the people who attempted to kill me recently. They said Nigeria is the only country that belongs to them. It is written and I have the document. “I have sent copy of the document to the president, police, DSS. The FUNAM said they wanted this revolution in 1800 but could not achieve it through Usman Danfodio. “They claimed that they have the power, money and all it takes to achieve it”. Ortom, who has been in a face-off with the presidency over his criticism of President Muhammadu Buhari’s inability to tackle the security challenges facing the nation, lamented that terrorism is beginning to takeover the country like Afghanistan and other waring countries in the world. “The terrorism that we used to hear in far away countries like Afghanistan Iraq and other warring countries has surfaced in Nigeria. “And as it is, it seems the presidency is in support of what is happening because it is not saying anything. “Like I always say, if the Federal Government has the power to stop secessionists like Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho then the should have the power to stop banditry in the country too. “They call the attackers unknown gunmen but for me, I know that they are Fulani people coming to kill us. Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information, has revealed the plans of the meeting presidential delegation had with leaders and stakeholders of the South-East was fruitful. Lai Mohammed spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Enugu. The delegation was led by Ibrahim Gambari, Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari. The convocation lecturer said the impact of the pandemic on Africa’s economy has been devastating, urging African leaders to look inwards and grow capacities for their respective economies. The former World Bank director said, “As Africa recovers from the health and economic impacts of COVID-19, it must learn from the pandemic. “COVID-19 has highlighted the existing structural and institutional weaknesses of Africa’s economy but it has also cast a light on existing opportunities and opened up new ones. Africa must seize all these factors to re-fashion its economy and build it with more resilience. “Let me point out six opportunities and approaches for re-fashioning a post-COVID-19 African economy.” According to her, increasing the industrialisation on the continent will provide more jobs for Africa’s youthful population. “COVID-19 brought into relief Africa’s undiversified commodity-dependent economy. The lack of diversification relates to both products and sources of revenue. “Africa must manufacture more through value-addition to the raw materials it exports. The transformation of cocoa into delicious Ivorian chocolate provides a good example. “There is no doubt that African countries need to make the requisite investment in infrastructure, skills, and a conducive business environment,” she said. The former Economy Minister also harped on more digitisation of economic, health, and educational activities in Africa going forward. Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council, Worldwide, has declared that the political career of the Governor of Rivers State, Governor Nyesom Wike, has been murdered by Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB. Ohanaeze Ndigbo believes that Wike, whom it described as an Igbo of Ikwerre stock, will be haunted by the killing of residents in Oyigbo Local Government Area by soldiers. The group said the killing was a political eyesore that will surely be used to haunt Wike’s future political aspirations. “Nnamdi Kanu is a messenger and a pawn in the hands of Northeast and Yoruba politicians, carefully drafted to destabilize South East and South South states, to upset upcoming presidential aspirants from the two political zones ahead of buildups of 2023,” OYC claimed in a statement signed by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, its President General. According to OYC, Kanu saw the opportunity to use #EndSARS protests as adventurous political scheming to run down presidential hopefuls through causing controversies by inciting violence in many parts, such as Aba, Enugu, Nnewi, Onitsha, Owerri, Abakiliki and Obigbo. According to her, Jude Okoye has not been true to the public on their disagreement but she doesn’t hold anyhting against him now since she has moved on. In a recent press conference, she has disclosed that the party to cancel the contract agreement between them was her manager Jude Okoye and not her. She said that; “I personally don’t have issues with Jude because I have moved on. I saw it as a l ife lesson for me. According to Layole, she finds it disturbing how Nigerians choose to glorify fraudsters without seeing anything wrong in their illegal way of making money. She however declared and came to a conclusion that a thief is a thief, whether high or low profile.
