Kobo, not everyone knows that u know. when travelling in or out of a country e.g. there is a reason you fill the customs form and the ask u to declare any amount more than $10,000 or there about in your possession.

"Outside the small group of sane-minded politicians in my country Nigeria, the rest are guilty of corruption until proven innocent!"

words to live by. thank you my brother

Goodnews! or is it?

when everything we do in nigeria is pegged against imports. wait and see the prices of everything else rise in unison.

Politics / Re: Rebrand Nigeria With A Logo And A Slogan by mustafar1: 8:29pm On Mar 16, 2009
Adiya:

Exactly!!! Rebranding won't work until Nigerians become patriotic and until our mindset and behavior changes. Rebranding will only make the packaging pretty, but that doesnt mean the present is still a rotten egg!!

we might need to define what we mean by being patriotic u know. right here on nairaland, u find people calling for other peoples heads because the person dare critique something nigerian. no matter how true what the person is critiquing is. that kind of 'patriotic' mindset has contributed greatly towards where we find nigeria today.

true
Politics / Re: Rebrand Nigeria With A Logo And A Slogan by mustafar1: 8:07pm On Mar 16, 2009
i wont say DIVIDED WE STAND would solve the problem, although its a thought thats been running around in peoples heads for a long minute. whether we stick together either by super glue or eba or we divide, our problems would simply clone themselves into as many places as we decided to divide and continue from where they stopped because WE (the people, the main ingredients) havent changed.

Kobojunkie:

Read some of the responses so far on this topic in the politics area of nairaland, and then come back and tell us if you are still wondering why we keep coming back to square one. lol

Kobojunkie, do u really want me to go thru that cruel and unusual purnishment?
Politics / Re: Rebrand Nigeria With A Logo And A Slogan by mustafar1: 7:43pm On Mar 16, 2009
what this rebranding thing is doing is the same thing road consruction workers do when they pretend to fix roads. they simply throw fresh asphalt onto the existing damaged(pot holded and uneven)road without first filling the potholes or totally removing the damaged asphalt. it seems awesome for the first month and then the pothole re-appears(i wonder why) and we are back to the same spot.
Politics / Re: Why I Built N130m Gov’s Lodge - Zamfara Lg Boss by mustafar1: 6:42pm On Mar 15, 2009
that still doesnt cover up the fact that this is a case of funds misspent.
Politics / Re: Outrageous: Nasarawa Budgets 18million Naira Annually On Governor's Lions by mustafar1: 6:31pm On Mar 15, 2009
if only this was made up and we werent this retarded. i wonder what the state house of assembly was doing when ex governor got the lions in the first place.
Politics / Re: Nigeria Has Never Had Mentally Prepared Leaders — Atiku by mustafar1: 6:11pm On Mar 15, 2009

when would this madness we engage in end? when would we stop putting 9inch pegs in 20 inch holes?
Politics / Re: Armoured 2009 Ford Expedition For Politicians, Government Dignatories & Vip's by mustafar1: 9:16pm On Mar 13, 2009
and so instead of using their wealth/name/position to lobby/pressure/effect change ala better security/police reform/better equiping sergent tackle berry, purchasing a armoured tank is the solution. Yes?
they might as well buy an accessory that would make them invisible from the building they are in till they get into the car or from the car into the next building.

wetin be my own sef, u r only trying to make a buck. the same way some people are trying to make a buck by importing and selling generators and because of that power hasnt been fixed and kept fixed since the begining of time. when we all can simply buy ourselves generators and choke off of its exhaust.
Politics / Re: Armoured 2009 Ford Expedition For Politicians, Government Dignatories & Vip's by mustafar1: 8:43pm On Mar 13, 2009
and whose money would they be spending, the states money or 'their' money they stole from the state treasury? the vehicle Benazir Bhutto was killed in was armoured. you could actually see the extra reinforcement made to the car. She got assasinated on first attempt. Yes?
Politics / Re: Nigerian Scammers - A Contrary View by mustafar1: 6:45pm On Mar 13, 2009
swindling by sending spam email and waiting patiently for someone unsuspecting to respond sure doesnt require much talent or thinking. heck i've got one sitting in my mailbox right now that im looking to respond to just to see where it goes. call me bored.

does being about to soil into someones email count as something? would their being able to identify a fraudulent check because they had in the past made some themselves count as something? worse case they could be used as lab rats at testing what the talented individuals come up with.
Politics / Re: Nigerian Scammers - A Contrary View by mustafar1: 6:25pm On Mar 13, 2009
yes theres enough talent available, im not disputing that but integrating these people to work with the talent out there would be a plus. Yes?

Politics / Re: Nigerian Scammers - A Contrary View by mustafar1: 5:59pm On Mar 13, 2009
our society has a stigma they attach to people with criminal background (aside from our stealing and thieving leaders that is) so helping re-directing their skill, talent, etc etc into its effective use would/might be difficult for people to stomach. they would rather hire a novice 'saint' who would obviously get schooled by the tested 'criminal'

BOSS' case is being worked on. i need to contact my undisclosable sources, they should know where he is. i noticed BOSS has been absent as well even with my not always being here myself. i mostly come here these days for comic relief.

Politics / Re: Why Nigerian Governors Woke Up! by mustafar1: 2:43pm On Mar 13, 2009
'maintaining' infrastructure shouldnt be considered as 'building' infrastructure. what most of them are doing is trying to maintain what is present.

that aside, i would be surprised if some governors get re-elected.

Politics / Re: Unhealthy obsession With Appelations and Titles in our culture. by mustafar1: 4:30pm On Mar 12, 2009
it all boils down to the 'i am bigger than you' mentality we nigerians have. competition/oppression gallore i think we need deliverance thats why a cut and sew tailor would call him/her self a designer and look down on that dude who walks around with his/her singer sewing machine on the shoulder looking for business of mending ripped clothing.

just make me the latest attire make i wear abeg.

why dont we have a national referendum, the majority's decision is final ! its a democracy afterall

what makes you think the referendum wont rigged. the highest bidder can always get Mr Iwu to do the trick. i wonder who the highest bidder would be in this case.
