Delfino:

Very good topic you raised but you are kinda getting the concept of marriage wrong.
The fact that a woman is married to you doesn't mean you own her -- she is also human and has FREEWILL.
If she so desires and you love her --- then why would you not do what would make your woman happy

However, some do it for just name-dropping sake e.g Iyabo Obasanjo Bello (didn't that make you remember the former president?)

I would have granted my wife the wish if she had so desired.
Good man, your wife must be a very happy woman.

megareal: Keep or not to keep my father's name?
Its only an underachieving man that would be scared of such trivia. Its a man imprisoned by a complex that regards his wife as his property. Name change or lack of it doesn't make or break a marriage. There are scarier things to worry about. Most responses here go to show some men still have a very long way to go.

Im keeping my name. Simple.
Thanks sweetie,tell them.

unless the full bride price hasn't been paid by the husband, there's no reason any woman should attach her father's name after marriage! men who allow such are pussies!
Listen to your self, why should't they?are you her father?did u bring her to life?from no where u show up from d blue, she marries u,so she should eliminate d name she has known all her life, the man that has cared for her all her life, the man that made her existence possible.Do u hv any idea of the sacrifices and pain involved with raising a child?i believe a good man should say to her father inlaw thank u for raising her for me,to show a bit of gratitude, she will keep your name.Am settling for a compound name.

You call that creativity
& don't you think the members must have gone through all sorts of brain-washing by the pastor to have come up with this? Even if this is not his idea, it is a result of his handy work on people don't you think, you block-head!
More so,this could't hv being erected without his consent and approval never. The inclusion of d pope is one i disagree with.Very well,i understand what is implied is that been a man of God rather than other profession has had an impact, even though if such impact means a guy having his hair permed,at night his pillow stained wt gels, while in d shower struggle wt a shower cap.How ever my point exactly is that a pop's job is same as a pastor's,so it was senseless and humiliating to hv included d pope,or is't d pope working for God?

Amtired: IF YOU ARE NOT IN THEIR SHOES, YOU CAN NEVER UNDERSTAND THE PSYCHOLOGICAL TRAUMA BEHIND WHAT THEY WENT THROUGH AND WHAT MANY ARE STILL GOING THROUGH..
I HAVE WRITTEN JAMB AND POST JAMB FOR GOOD SIX TIMES (6 YEARS)WITH GOOD RESULTS, STILL NO ADMISSION!
CAN YOU IMAGINE, AFTER SCORING 238 IN JAMB I WENT FOR THIS YEAR POST JAMB IN UNIBEN, THE QUESTIONS WERE VERY VERY FRIENDLY TO ME AND I DID JUSTICE TO EVERY SINGLE QUESTION INDEPENDENTLY BECAUSE I SINCERELY PREPARED FOR THE EXAM.
WHEN THE POST JAMB RESULTS WERE RELEASED, I CHECKED MINE ONLY TO SEE "MALPRACTICE CASE" WITHOUT THE RESULT BEING RELEASE UP TILL THIS DATE!
THE FIRST OPTION TO ME WAS TO COMMIT SUICIDE! BUT I DECIDED TO TRAVEL FROM LAGOS BACK TO UNIBEN TO FIND OUT WHAT WENT WRONG, NO ATTENTION WAS GIVEN TO ME. I DID NOT DO ANYTHING RELATED TO MALPRACTICES AND I WASN'T CAUGHT DOING ANYTHING WRONG IN THE EXAM HALL, WHY HAVE THEY REFUSE TO RELEASE MY RESULT UP TILL DATE? THIS IS NOT FAIR.
I'M WRITING IN CAPITAL LETTERS TO SHOW HOW BAD THE FEELING IS. IF ONLY THERE IS SOMETHING HIGHER THAN SUICIDE, I WOULDN'T MIND.
THE PAIN IS UNBEARABLE..
I would be telling a huge lie if i tell you i understand exactly how you feel, because i don't,but i have a cousin that went through same thing as you,but today he is a medicine student, pls am making an appeal to you, don't give up,you are destined for greatness,be still and know that he is God. Gluckdude: Like seriously? Who does business in a hotel with a stranger
Whats wrong with having a busines conversation in a fast food or in a public place if neither of them have an office,

My guess is she was into runs, and met with crooks. No decent lady will go into an hotel room with male companion to discuss business, would she have done that if her bf/fiance lives on the same street the hotel is located?
Either way she doesnt deserve to die that way, but she placed herself in harms way.

Those are my thoughts anyway.
RIP
Her decision to go over to an hotel would depend on the nature of business she was into, apparently, she was into clothing, she might not be comfortable having theses cloths displayed at places like tantalizer while bargaining, attracting a stare or attention. If she lacked a relative in lagos,it is't out of place to lodge in an hotel and invite her business partners over with the items. In relation, she had been friends with them a while, the only issue is that she was too trusting.

Am very saddened by this, the only female in her family and the baby of the house. It did't occur to her,she could have firstly gone to a relative's place and asked to be accompanied by any of her brothers, uncle or any relative, preferably a guy,It is't out of place for her to have gone there with a business intention.Girls pls don't ever accept drinks from strangers, you are better of going over with your drink, and be sure to keep an eye on your drink, with such steps you are certain to be conscious and alert, better than been drowsy or falling into sleep. But this guys are devils shaoooo, murder is too too much, overly much, why not rob and let the poor girl stay alive.Rest in peace.

you got the word out of my mouth, these suspension thing in fact could all be arranged just to put her in good light and get ahead in her career.A thing like son don't declare, you all will be suspended, this will be good for my career. She should't have allowed her sons in government, she could recommend them for any position when out of office. Why has she opted for a suspension, why not that they have been relieved of their jobs, then she can be given a thumbs up.

WOW . . the sort of analysis you go hear from people on these issues leaves you in stupor sometimes.

So because you heard of ONE CASE of a robber leaving an elderly person, you have conveniently concluded that is the case in ALL of Nigeria? The old people, beggars, etc that have been killed, ,maimed etc in the various crime sprees, bombings, etc across Nigeria in just the last year alone are what? Rubber dolls? undecided undecided undecided
Try not over personalizing this issue,i hv taken into account other crimes, and my analytical conclusion is that don't dare crimes here,it's definitely beyond what we experience back home, even when this guys are aware they will get caught much after the crimes, they still go ahead.I mean real hard crimes, not moi moi.

Am surprised at this,am sure you have sisters or female relatives, and u expect that they be treated correctly by their boyfriends is'nt it? i can't understand this,i don't think a pear is so huge to ask,is not like she asked for something too extra ordinary, like a car or something,d incident was only unfortunate.

I totally agree with you on that. Some children raised by single parents are far more lucrative, industrious, successful, ambitious, determined & career driven more than the ones raised by both parents. Cos they were limited to certain things,it propels them to strive hard to make a statement & give their single parent a credible name. [/quote I think you have a point,I know a friend who was raised by a single parent, with God's help she has done so well for herself, she studied abroad, and now she is a doctor doing too too well.

SO TRUE, MY BROTHER. Back in the UK I had a number of friends with Masters degrees who worked menial jobs from hospital porters to aides in healthcare homes. Forget all the talk about great roads, light, etc, cos Life there truly sucked big time. In my own case I left the Queen's own country less than a week after I completed my Masters degree. That, my friend, was the VERY BEST decision I've ever made cos I'm now way better than a lot of collegues I left behind.

Mental dwarfs like you really irritate me. Were you reading the post upside down? or worse still can you read at all? I do not recall seeing any indication that the hospital asked for extraeneous requirements before attending to the deceased. Lilliputians like you are always making the decent 'diasporans' appear as if people back home are disparaging them. Granted, medical systems in the west are far better than what is obtainable back home(and quite a number of the good hands are also Nigerians), must you always gush nonesense when reasonable people are contributing? If you have nothing meaningful to say (or write) you could shut the phuckk up. Beast.
I refuse to have any further conversation with you after now.A definite point of correction,i did't say d hospital asked,i said they MAY HAVE, asking some unimportant question which could have lead to delays in treatment,i know how my granma died back home,so i understand what am talking about.Anyway, from ur approach,u either hv a problem understanding English or have a drinking problem,u must hv to be an absolute illiterate to call people names, where do u reside?in a cave i guess.U can state ur point without aggression or getting abusive,u hv a lot of catching up to do,u are far behind d world,u are d only odd person,u are so so outdated.I feel pity for you.I can stake a bet u are not in diaspora.
