naijababe:

I know this is coming a bit late but you might still find the info useful.

Subsea engineering - Cranfield Uni but their minimum requirement is a 2.1
Pipeline '' - Newcastle Uni, but with a 2.2 they may ask you to do a pgd first before letting go on to the full MSc
Corrosion '' - Manchester Uni has a very strong and well respected program and as far as I know will accept a 2.2, that may have changed now though. I think this course is the best for you given your background. The other two are more suited to Mech. engineers.

Thanks to everyone that have contributed immensely to this wonderful Thread. I have a few questions to ask. I just finished my NYSC hoping to secure an interesting career in Oil and Gas industry especially. I studied Metallurgy and Materials engineering (2.78CGPA second class lower) here in Nigeria and I want to go in For a masters abroad so as to widen my chances. My candid question is this; which of these will be more profitable/more job offer between Msc subsea Engineering, pipeline engineering and oilfield Corrosion Engineering. Again, I want to equally know between the Universities in the UK and Norway that actually do well in these area, which will be Cheaper and ease to secure admission considering my CGPA? Thanks ones again Professionals in the house
@Dalo4u I work as a Directional Drilling Engineer, typically Sub-sea engineers are very competent in mechanics and designing. a lot of what they do is in mechanical engineering and i would say you have a good start with your M.E degree. However getting into Sub-sea engineering is very tough. its one of the highest paying engineering fields out there where you can earn up to $$400,000 a year or N64mil. Typically a Sub-sea engineering training school in Norway or in the UK is a sure way to get into Sub-sea engineering but be advised its expensive, classes range from $3,000 to $6000 a class.

I am a fresh graduate of Materials and metallurgical
engineering. Wishing to work in the lucreative and
interesting oil sector. I guess u will have some words of
advise 4 me too. I am contemplating on running either
Msc Corrosion or Subsea engineering abroad. Which do
u advise me to go for, considering the employment
opportunity each offers and d fact dt d seond option is
not close to my field @ first degree compared to the first.
Thanks as I wait to hear from u!!!!!

@goodtalk lol!!!!! U are such a funny dude. I have been following this nice thread for some time now. I am really impressed with people's testimonies and experiences. Most especially the DIY attitude it has instilled in us, who long to be in dubai for the sake of Job yet afraid of jumping into the hands of dubious agents. Share mine(testimony) some day is what I equally pray for. And for those who are stranded or still looking for job over there, God will see you all through jare!!!! E no easy!!!!!!

Certification And Training Adverts / Advice On Ndt/welding Inspection Program by neddelux(m): 10:45am On Mar 27, 2013
Hi 2 you all,

I am a fresh graduate of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, wishing to penetrate the oil and gas sector and other areas where the skill is needed. So I really want someone to highlight the marketability(job opportunities) of someone with NDT/Welding Inspection skills within nig. and even asia/middle east. Also I will want to know accredited training centers within nigeria.
Thanks!
