Although I am usually too careful to make behavioural distinctions along religious lines, as I believe that there are maybe other factors that contribute to one's moral standing, I cannot just help but note the fact that based on personal experiences (and believe me, I've got loads), I have repeatedly found the above to be true, so much that it's become worrisome. I live in a country where "God" means nothing to the vast majority. Still, the people are probably the most honest anyone would ever come across in their life time. As for Nigeria, we all know that the situation is the exact opposite. But that's somewhat beside the point.

I have also come to find that I suddenly become wary of people the moment I discover the depth of their religious inclinations. In fact, my observations have also led me to discover that the liberal Christians (a.k.a unserious/nominal Christians) generally tend to be more morally upright than the deeply religious ones (a.k.a 'spirikoko'). Where I live, there are a couple of Nigerians as well, and again, the observation is that the ones that attend church the most among them (midweek, Sundays, special programs, etc) are often the ones whose behaviours are most appalling.

The other day, one of them who constantly tries to preach to me and persuade me to attend church with them, had lured a teenage girl to his room supposedly to "discuss" the word of God with her. She is an atheist, and he wanted to make her see the light. Long story short (according to the girl), he started to grope her and the poor girl was terrified that she demanded that the "discussion" continued outside the room. And this guy is one whom I used to think was one of the better Christians among them because of his calm and friendly approach. This is just one of many other sick stories among the religious circle. Initially, it used to come as a shock to me when I learned of their escapades, but not anymore.

It almost seems as if the religion acts as a cover or smokescreen for their dark side, and that the less evil/immorality you care to hide or indulge in, the less religious one tends to be.

u can use examples of backslidden xtians that are about the same state as atheists to condemn christianity.When the so called xtian u mentioned above made such ungodly moves was he following the teaching of Christ.Did he represent xtianity and its holy teachings that moment.Are there not many examples of xtians that lived godly xtian lives.U won't know them cos u don't flock with them.u flock with ur likes.Are there not numerous examples of atheists that live far more abominable horrible lives.Show me that country that is largely atheists but honest and pure and holy.It only exists in ur imaginations.U are reasoning with kids.

1.They claim catholic was the first church ever founded but the apostles gathered with their converts and are termed among pentecostals as 'the early church' and they were called christians.The never had rosary or the statue of mary etc.The apostle paul founded many churches during his missionary journey as indicated in the book of Acts.Those weren't catholic churches.The Lord Jesus upbraided many churches in Revelation chapter2.Those were not catholic churches.

2.They claim peter was the first pope and founder of catholic church which is nowhere in the sciptures.Catholic popes and priests don't marry which is why many of them are accused of gay practices,&secret immoralities but peter was married and is automatically disqualified from being a catholic priest let alone a pope.

3.About all the apostles and multitudes of disciples of christ in the early church were married except paul who never taught it was compulsory for a minister of Christ.So where did the catholics get their doctrine of compulsory celibacy for priests.Certainly not from the scriptures.

4.They claim they are following tradition of the apostles.How can these their traditions so much contadict the very writings of the apostles in the scripture and even the entire scripture e.g the statue of Mary & other saints etc.

5.They claim Joshua fell down before the ark of God hence they worship marry.Didn't the apostles & disciples of christ know that Joshua fell down before the ark of God?Why didn't they make a statue of Mary and a rosary in Acts of the apostles to tell christiandom that its the right thing to do since Joshua fell before the ark of God.Besides if Joshua falling down before the ark of God justifies catholics to bow to mary then all the Idol worshippers in entire Nigeria & world can claim too they are right to bow to their dumb idols since Joshua fell before the ark of God.
