man, i dunno, getting a properly designed website is very cheap. I looked at two other shippers and their websites are properly done, even with a shipping calculator. I feel in the interests of transparency, you should either disclose your rates, or provide a shipping calculator. why should i have to email you for a quote? aascargo.com has both a quote calculator and their shipping rates clearly stated. cargoatlantic.com does not state rates, but has a proper shipping calculator as well. just that professionalism alone is impressive. has anyone of you used either? I am gonna try one of them out and see how they do. I would love to do allworldinternational.com but i am really disappointed by the lack of clear information on their site as well as lackluster presentation.I have emailed them though, and I hope they get back to me with competitive rates. I wanna compare the costs between the three shippers. If any of you have used either aascargo or cargoatlantic, please let me know.

It has some part that goes like: "Omalicha nwa, oh uh oh, some more, oh uh oh, some more, wokonma, , I know i butchered it, but i heard it while in Naija and I really like it. Don't know what the actual song name is and where to find it. any ideas?

@house
Please do I need an affidavit by a bank if my father is my sponsor,or the bank statement will just do.
Also,I still need more suggestions as touching answering questions related to all the schools I applied to being in the same state(Tx)

Thnks.

I think a signed letter of consent from your father indicating his willingness to fully support your educational endeavors in the US is sufficient in addition to the bank statement.

@nnamdistan,
Can successful VISA applicants set for OBAMALAND like dizzyfrenzy get any scholarship assistance from this group you suggested or its meant for fresh admission applicants about to take standardized test and to apply for admission?

Education USA does not give you money. they help you navigate the college admissions process, apply to schools that will give you the funding you need and ethically fine tune your application to the point where it is attractive enough to get you the money you need. I didn't know dizzyfrenzy already has a visa?!

thanks for the reply dizyfrenzy. by the way, dizyfrenzy, have you considered joining the Education USA educational advising center in Abuja? they helped me secure my full scholarship. i know several graduate students who are going abroad this year that secured scholarships.

congrats morotioluwa. i thing that is actually string theory the man was talking about. your interview was very nice, i think that guy in window 6 is always impressed if you have great standardized test scores. wow, there was someone that day that came to do a masters in poultry science.

of course he was denied because he couldn't really defend himself.

Please guys, some quick questions.

Has anyone here tried wakanow.com? Is it recommendable? If not, which sites do you guys book your flights on?

has anyone flied with Egypt AIR? They have flights for less than 200,000 sometimes and that is perfect for my string budget.

How much would you advise a student who is going to expensive manhattan to carry with him?

How about phone networks? Any point in taking my naija phone?

thanks y'all

Thanks guys. Lemme address your comments.

Ayanfe22:

What is the total amount to have on both statements? Do u mean all d money you need to pay is 1000$? If so, den a 90000 naira atstement is more than enough. If it an undergrad degree, you have to be able to show that if u loose your scholarship or funding, you will be able to pay subsequent years. I think you are good to go. May God see you through. All dis atatement self, u might be one of the lucky few who won't be asked for statement,  Just pray. Where is nellywho?
Yes, I'm going for an undergrad degree. Actually, there is nothing in his personal account. The company account however had nine hundred thousand Naira. Like some Nigerian's, there is little seperation between business and family.

GboyegaD:

I would suggest you talk to an uncle or close family friend who has about N5million so that you can put same in your dad's account and leave it there until some days to your interview and print same out. Do not give the VO any reason whatsoever to deny you.

Dear GboyegaD, unfortunately such an uncle does not exist in my case sad. Hopefully, that does not mean I'm screwed.

imperiouxx:

@nnamdistan,

Do as you are told. Don't let that goodie of $54,000 waste ooo. Ask yourself this first, Incase I'm unable to meet up to renew my scholarship, how will I get to finance myself? So, you have to show V.O you are capable even without that scholarship. Still, know that that scholarship place you on a favorable side with the V.O. Guy, I just dey jealous that your goodie too much.

I understand you guys point, although the likelihood of my losing my scholarship is really low. I'm a social science student who managed to beat several science students to earn this, and I don't mean to boast, but I have a great work ethic and I'm deeply aware of how extremely fortunate and privileged I am to have gotten this scholarship. But that one no concern VO. I just hope all goes well.

SEFAGO:

Hey mate I know quite a number of people who have attended LACs and have very high financial aid. All things being equal they rarely asked for their bank statement. But if they do then it would be at the discretion of the officer to decide if what you provide is sufficient. Company accounts though can be a red flag because the officer might not ask you those company docs and remember that student interviews are very short and you might not have time to explain yourself.

Good luck though- I doubt you really have anything to worry about

Wow, if the VO doesn't ask me for the documents, I'll be screwed. I think i'll prevent that by not just handing over the bank statement and waiting for him to ask me, "this is not an individual's bank statement", I'll tell him upfront "This statement is my fathers company bank statement - he does not really separate business from family". What do you guys think?

And before I'm asked, no, my mom does not even have a bank account, she is a housewife.
Travel / Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by nnamdistan: 10:12pm On Jul 19, 2011
Hi guys, my i've been away for a while cos i've been hustling hard. my interview is on the 7th of August and I have a question i'd like to ask.

1. I have a full ride, to a LAC I'm only expected to contribute $1000 out of $55,000. However my pops bank statement is less than that amount cos he frankly uses company account more. So i intend to carry both company bank statement and his personal account statement. the statement in his company account is about 900,000 (i am not from a rich family). Does anyone sense any red flag here? I have the complete company docs( memat and cert. of incorporation to show that my dad is the owner of the company).

Please I appreciate your answers
Romance / Re: Virginity Remains A Virtue After All Said And Done! by nnamdistan: 10:50am On Jul 06, 2011
I am curious what your definition of virgin is sexkillz. i discovered that The Greek word por‧nei′a, translated “fornication,” has a fairly broad meaning. It relates to sexual relations involving persons not married to each other and focuses on the misuse of the sexual organs. Por‧nei′a includes such acts as MouthAction, anal sex, and masturbating/handling/massage (or whatever else u call it) another person—conduct commonly associated with houses of prostitution. People who think that such acts are not “fornication” are fooling themselves. people who have done any of the above and think they are virgins are also fooling themselves. do you agree with me?

Thanks Smoothsail. Apparently your format is useful though the process of applying has changed. This is now the new format, I gather: http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-niv-emergencyappointment.html

Also, if anyone has any questions on the visa application process, reasonable questions, you can access the US Embassy Officials using live chat at: http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ng/ng-main-contactus.html.

They have been invaluable.

Congrats keneyinks. Man, you had a swell time and an easy one too.

It has been said previously that you cannot pay with credit card o! See below a reply I got from SEVIS that validates that:

Currently we are not able to accept credit or debit card payments. We do not yet know when we will be ready to again accept credit card payments on www.fmjfee.com. However, payments can be done via certified check, money order, or western union transfer. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause and will let you know when this service is reinstated.

You can pay by check/money order or by Western Union Quick Pay. For the I-901 form and instructions on paying by check or money order please see: http://www.ice.gov/doclib/sevis/pdf/I-901.pdf

If you go on this page you will be able to see the examples on to Fill out a Western Union Quick Pay Form. http://www.ice.gov/sevis/i901/wu_instr.htm

Right now, I am still trying to hustle for the money lol, not to talk of someone who will pay for me. Kai, if I get there, I will start SEVIS fee payment business grin

cool tonytone. @ seedord, im online now and i will be online throughout this evening. tnx.
Travel / Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by nnamdistan: 12:11pm On May 28, 2011
ok tonytone. my grouse against you is your asking people to email you for answers to questions instead of telling them to post here and you will reply. whereas, you, when you needed an answer to your neco question, did not email anyone, but came here to post!

if the person emails you, everyone loses and its not fair period. you mentioned learning a lot from a former thread of this nature, but incidentally, it appears that you never contributed or came back to tell your own story, im judging from your post count. so if now, you are in the mood to contribute, you should do it for everyone. get a tid bit, type it out for everyone like i did. if you wanna answer a question, tell the question askers to post her and you will reply. thats it.

about your neco question, the fact is that, if you have taken SSCE in Naija, you will know that WASSCE comes before NECO's SSCE. Most people take WASSCE seriously and joke with NECO's SSCE. Thats just the way it is. The people at the consular are aware that even Nigerians generally dont take NECO's SSCE seriously. Besides WASSCE is a West African thing, more recognizable and known. In any case, of all the people I know who succeeded and are currently in LACs in the US, they did both and presented both at their interviews along with their scratch card. So if someone has only NECO, well, if the Consular raises a flag, its not really his fault. However, im not implying that if you go with only WASSCE you are in trouble o. A lot of people dont go with NECO's SSCE because they did not take it seriously and their results were therefore poor.

Peace y'all. What up seedord - still waiting.

Travel / Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by nnamdistan: 1:27am On May 25, 2011
Thanks for your reply, anfanio. Truly appreciated. My financial aid is good, but still I have to raise 1000 dollars as that is my expected student contribution and well, its really hard right now. Trying to hustle the cash like no tomorrow, meeting blockades every which way. Poverty is not a good thing. Trust me. I cant begin to imagine I could lose this great offer if something good doesnt happen and happen soon. In any case, even if i was to raise the money, the people there will probably think I borrowed it just to make my bank statement look healthy. I heard from the consul that there are guyses who loan you money like that. So it seems im screwed either way man. I am waiting for Superman or a miracle. Anyway, here are the rest of the tips.

6. There is nothing wrong with applying to a community college. Im sure that has already been said on this thread previously. As long as you are qualified for a visa, its a good plan as far as the consuls are concerned. Some of them in fact passed through community colleges.

7. If you are fortunate enough to have relatives abroad, its never a bad idea, it doesn't necessarily jeopardize ur propects mentioning that you plan to stay with them or close to them or choose a reason because your Aunt Margaret makes the best moi-moi in the world and you know you will remain alive if you get there. - From the horses mouth. Please dont go quoting a-verbatim o grin.

8. Even if you fail to tell them about your relatives, chances are they already know them, and know whether they are ins status or not, know whether they originally obtained F1 and then dissappeared into thin air.

9. You dont need to return to Naija to renew visa. Once you get visa and you arrive and maintain ur information and dont leave America, you are in status. You only need to renew visa if you leave America after your visa expires.

10. Visa is not a right. You can even say its a privilege. It is entirely at the discretion of the issuing officer. Some people erroneously think, Ah, i got admitted, Oya issue my visa. False. The consuls have a duty to protect the integrity of their country. They wanna keep out those people who intend to come over as students, then change to workers. They wanna keep out harmful people. It doesnt mean anything if they deny us all visa's. They are not gonna lose their job for it. No one evaluates them to ask, Haba, why are you always denying these guys? NO. LOL. The official who spoke said he had denied 12 dreams that morning. However, one visa issued to the wrong person could cause the issuing officer a lot of HAVOC, so if in doubt, theyd rather deny you cause if you become wahala, they will trace the issuance back to him.

11. Therefore go to the interview prepared to quell any doubts. BE PREPARED. Nothing trumps preparation. And even then, with all your prep, you could still not be granted the VISA cos maybe the issuer had a bad day. Maybe he quarrelled with his wife grin. Maybe her husband has been unfaithful grin. Maybe she had an altercation with the BOSS. Maybe some crude Nigerian driver insulted (WAKKA grin. Oyibo, you no go go back to your country!)her on her way to work and made her driving difficult. Maybe last Saturday, a Nigerian trader cheated her at the Market. Lol. The list of maybe's is probably endless so ill stop now. My point im sure is already taken.

13. Its you interview. If the person interviewing you is talking so fast, not giving you time to respond, you can tell him. Please sir, I need you to give me some time to properly phrase my responses. LOL. I wouldnt try that though. Just parroting what the consul said. Check out : http://travel.state.gov/visa/visa_2796.html

14. If you are denied, cry, mope, do whatever you can to relieve yourself. Then analyse what went wrong, that is if you truly have genuine intentions. Then prepare and return with new data, updated info and maybe this time youll get it.

15. Anecdotes: The guy kept mentioning going to touts to get this or that. Maybe its WAEC certificate. Maybe its ur fake transcript. He made it clear that they will know O! For instance, somebody who wrote WAEC this year presenting his WAEC certificate when they know that WAEC waits at least two years before sending that stuff to schools. Or someone who had 3.8 gpa but cant speak good English or defend himself or ideas. It also seems a lot of Nigerians think that mentioning that their school was formed in 1302 is the best way to explain why they choose that school. grin Funny if you ask me. Like really? If year of establishment is all that matters to you then, you are of all men most to be pitied and have no business seeking a US visa.

Guys, please apart from the SEME stuff, which I certainly cant do, what other options are there for SEVIS fee? Has anyone else tried the GTB bank draft stuff that was mentioned earlier?
Travel / Re: General U.S.A (student) Visa Enquiries by nnamdistan: 6:06pm On May 24, 2011
I am a fall 2011 applicant. I visit the thread often, but i've discovered that more often than not, my questions are left unanswered. Its discouraging.

Anyway, let me share some tidbits i discovered.

1. Whether u apply in Lagos or Abuja, it really makes no difference. If you get denial on your first try, US law demands that the second time, a different officer will interview you so there is no point running from where you did your first interview. In anycase, they have all the info on their systems so do you really think they would not know you were denied the first time?

2. Dont do anything fake, bring fake bank statement, fake certificates, doctored transcripts etc. You are only harming yourself cos they will find out. Just take them as perfect and as all knowing. They have a magic computer grin wink that will tell you more things about yourself than you yourself know. For instance, 87% of Nigerians submit fake bank statements. Nothing stops them from going to your bank to confirm.

3. Always tell the truth. No point lying. They are trained to detect lies. If you lie, you have just ruined yourself.

4. Be ready to explain anomalies. If your name on the passport does not match the one in your certificate, it dont mean automatic denial. As long as you can reasonably explain, then you are fine.

5. Ignore all the f.a.k.e.s that troll here advertising their services. Use them at your own risk.

There is more jor, but im tired of typing. Cheers everyone.
