Business / Re: FG To Make Fresh $100bn Investments by obama30: 5:18pm On Aug 22
Veegil:
The Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu has revealed that the Federal Government is planning to invest $100bn annually to tackle the economic challenges in Nigeria.

This announcement followed after the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, said the country was battling various socio-economic challenges that threatened the existence of a national union.

Bagudu pointed to the recent nationwide protest against the bad governance in Nigeria as a push for government officials to listen more and do better.

According to him, although the current economic situation is due to cumulative years of under-investment, the current administration is ready to rewrite the wrongs to improve the country in the next 25 years.

The two government officials spoke at the National Economic Dialogue 2024 organised by the Nigerian Economic Summit Group on Wednesday in Abuja.

In his address at an event themed “Nigeria’s Economic Future: 25 Years of Democracy and Beyond” and in the presence of leaders, policymakers, experts and stakeholders, Bagudu revealed that the Federal Government was targeting $100bn annual investments to boost the Nigerian economy.

“We want a nation that includes all. We want a higher per capita by the year 2050. We want to ensure that we invest not less than $100bn annually. But if our experience in the last 25 years should serve us as a guide, we sometimes know how difficult it is because you have to make choices that are both pleasant and unpleasant to be able to mobilise capital, private and borrowed capital, to support our aspiration. We need more public resources to fund our priorities.

“So, even in a constitutional democracy, where all tiers are separate, our constitution and our planning process require a minimum of cooperation between the levels of government and the private sector.

“We have lived with oil subsidies, for example, for decades. And it has harmed us, even when oil prices once went up to $147 in our national life. The net effect on the federation’s revenue, or the availability of investment money to support, was almost nil because the higher the oil prices, the more the then President Jonathan’s government was spending to support subsidies.

“So, we have been living a lie. So, as unpleasant as it is, President Bola Tinubu said let’s begin to tell ourselves the truth that we are not as rich as we think we are. It’s not a shame. Countries that have done that thinking and established that truth much earlier than us have made choices that have taken them where they want to be.”

Another naira divaluation, whenever you hear GVT want to invest it means more borrowing which effect the local currency valuation leading to more suffering.

Politics / Re: Cascade Of Events That Will Happen Should Igbos Or Obi Join The Protest by obama30: 2:51pm On Jul 31
pazienza:
Ndiigbo have already made it obvious that we will not be partaking in the upcoming national protests.
Igbo bodies like Ohaneze Ndiigbo and Ohaneze Youth Council have all come forward to back this stance of no protest in Igboland.

This thread aims to give Igbos a glimpse of how events would unfold if they are stupid enough to join the protest.

1. At initial stage , it will be a national protest with everything going well.

2. Then it will take a twist, SW controlled APC media propaganda will intensify their Igbophobic agenda and try hard to hinge the protest on Igbos.

3. To achieve this, the anti Igbo sleeper cells in Igboland under the control of Ekpa and other fifth columnists in Igboland will be activated. I am talking about the UGM and Ebubeagu criminals!

4. These lots will infiltrate the protests in Igboland and start shooting at military and police personnel and posts while chanting Biafra and IPOB.

5. Ekpa will be in Finland reading script given to him by his masters.
He will claim that they are fighting for Biafra and for Obi.
The game plan will be to tie the killings of the military and police to Obi and Ndiigbo and to Biafra agitation.

6. The SW media propaganda machine will now go in full motion to tie the protest to Igbos feeling aggrieved that Obi lost and Igbo Biafra agenda.
Soon the rest of the other ethnic groups that started the protest will tactically withdraw and Igbos will become the scapegoat.

7. The FG will send military reinforcement to SE to repeat python dance by killing our youths and leveling our houses under the guise of fighting UGM and IPOB.

8. Ndiigbo will be forced to fight back.
Obi will condemn the attacks and he will now be fully draped in IPOB regalia by the SW media propaganda machine.

9. Once again the Igbo will be left wondering how it all spiralled into the rest of the country VS Igbo again.
10. Small Minorities who have been eyeing Igbo territories and people will see it as an opportunity to take our lands, as FG and the rest of the country will be asking for our humiliation.

11. Ohaji/Egbema will be ceded to Rivers state like Obiigbo and Egbema was done post civil war.

12. Identity crisis in Anioma and upper rivers will deepen since those Igboids will seek to flee from repercussions reserved for Igbos.

13. Obi will either have to flee the country and seek for asylum or jailed and tried as an IPOB supporter with Ekpa claiming he is a member.

14. Igboland will shrink again, SW and North widening rift will be repaired using Igbo punishment, the rest of Nigeria will be placated by appealing to their shared Igbophobia.

15. Ndiigbo will be back to immediate post 1970 status.

you just post nonsense, all this you post is not what makes igbos not to participate in the protest. The  only thing that makes Igbos not to take part is because Igbos saw that Tinubu didn't have anything to offer to Nigeria if he eventually became president and that is the reason many Igbos did not vote for him. Aprt that you set a trap for some one. When someone does what he is expected to do, what will you do? you go in and sleep because that is what you expected. you can get upset when it is the other way round.

Politics / Dangote Refinery With The Same Dangote Monopoly. by obama30: 1:34pm On Jul 31
Monopoly is the only thing causing problems between Dangote and NNPC, If the federal government and Dangote want best for Nigerians they will follow the same measure used in the Electricity section. IPP produces and supplies to private distributors, from distributors to the government, then governments supply to the masses.

What will happen if the federal government is in charge of crude supplied to Dangote refinery, even if it is 1 million barrels or 650K barrels every day, all the refinery knows is that they are getting their daily supply from FGN whether they get it from Nigeria or heaven is not their concern. And if it comes out that the refinery management knows where to get the oil cheaper than Nigeria when Nigeria crude is not available, they will inform the government department in charge of supplying them, so the government can get it cheaper and also supply them with a discount.

On the other hand after refining the oil, FGN through NNPC buys the refined oil and continues to supply to the both local and international market as they are doing already. This process cannot stop the refinery from making their money. Because after oil is refined, other things are still coming out which also add big money to the refinery pocket. Depending on their agreements the refinery doesn't need to pay money to the supplier before getting the crude because the refined crude will be supplied back to the same government sector while the government sector pays little money to the refinery, this little amount is added as the refinery selling price to the government. This small amount can runs into billions of naira, for example that governments supply 1 million barrels at price of N750 per barrel, know it that 150 liters make 1 barrels of crude oil, let it be that the refinery supply back to the government at 400 naira per a litter, after the calculation the refinery will still make big profit, oil can be measure per barrels when selling from crude but cannot supply per barrels after refined.

This will save Dangote from headache and also save Nigerians petroleum marketers and Nigerians from the Dangote monopoly which is all his struggling to gain ground to start doing through the refinery.

If the federal government can do it in the electricity sector why not apply the same to individual refineries? or the owners now above the law that their investment cannot pass through rules without monopoly that will suffer Nigerians.

If handling the individual refinery is a big issue to the government, why can't the same government quit from handling electricity so that independent power producers can sell their generated electricity to the masses at the same cheap rate they supply to the government and make their money too.

Politics / Why Is Everyone Warning Igbos Not To Join the Proteste? by obama30: 12:05pm On Jul 31
Why is everyone warning Igbos not to join the proteste? Igbos are not need to warn not to join the protest because the protest is about masses registering their disappointment and anger to let the present administration know that the administrator failed those that believed in them. The majority of Igbos never believed that Tinubu had anything to offer Nigerians that is the reason they never voted for him to become president. Instead what they expected from him is what is doing, they expect that he will fail Nigeria and that is exactly what is going on. If I may ask what are Igbos going to protest for? when what they expect of him is at present. Igbos may protest if they expect good from him and vote for him but here the case is different. Please those that are warning Igbos not to join the protest should use their time for others things because the Igbos are not fools.

The Abuja Lokoja road was blocked by heavily armed bandits whose intent was to carry out kidnapping.

From the video, you can see that all cars were parked by the road, far from where the would have been abducted. The person narrating said that the weapons carried by the officers were no match for what the bandits have hence they could not engage them.

The Government should be more proactive to secure the citizens.

If it happens at East and it concerns IPOB or ESN all Nigeria forces will be on ground to fight separatist. But when it concerns intentionally allowed gun wielding terrorists of Fulanis, Nigerians will coat them bandit and untouchable with excuses. What happens to all war jets that governments bought? How many hours will it take the air military to reach there and kill the terrorists that block roads in day time? their weapon is now higher than all the ammunition in the barack?  yet the government is fighting ESN that fight the criminals.
Politics / Re: On Judgment Day, God Will Not Punish Nigerian Entrepreneurs - Aliko Dangote by obama30: 2:24pm On Jul 24
Gistmedia10:
Africa's richest man, Aliko Dangote, left the audience in stitches with his witty remark about Nigerian entrepreneurs and the challenges they face. Speaking on the struggles of doing business in Nigeria, Dangote quipped, "On judgment day, God will say, 'Where are those entrepreneurs from Nigeria?' Once we raise our hands, He will say, 'Okay, you cannot be punished twice, go to heaven." grin

Dangote's humorous take resonated with many, highlighting the difficulties entrepreneurs encounter in Nigeria's tough economic landscape. The audience couldn't help but laugh at the clever analogy, which underscores the resilience and determination required to thrive in such a challenging environment.

This lighthearted moment sheds a humorous light on the serious obstacles Nigerian entrepreneurs face daily, from economic instability to bureaucratic hurdles. Despite these challenges, Dangote's words serve as a testament of the tenacity and spirit of Nigeria's business community.

What exactly does he cry for? Past government invested Nigeria money into the refinery, which turned back to Nigerians with hardship. You gave the excuse that nigeria crud cannot be refined in your company because your machine can only refine south Americans crud, yet the government believed you. You import the crud refined and export to Europe with gods know profit margin yet the government keeps silent. You set a procedure for the Nigerian oil market to buy your product. They boycut you and continue their refine oil importation as usual, you released a fake news that they import substandard oil and they react and you start crying because what you want to archive from fake infor fails. You cannot always have your monopoly way. you open a business which also is a public liability company in nature. why can't you source your raw material without involving government and without monopoly means and also seek for petroniers without monopoly and government help. You once  said petrol price will be 1200 naira when your own will be available in the market. So one of your wishes is to suffer the masses. your business system is suffering Nigerian;

2023: Forget Peter Obi, Join Us To Become ‘Mr President’ – APC Begs Kwankwaso

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has urged the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, to return to the party he helped build.
Speaking with reporters on Sunday in Abuja, Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Yakubu Murtala Ajaka, asked Kwankwaso to return to a party he contributed immensely to its development.

According to the APC spokesperson, the former Kano governor knows much about the ruling party’s formation.

While telling Kwankwaso not to be deceived by the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, and his ‘Obidient’ movement, which he says exists only on social media, Ajaka warned the former Kano to retrace his step before it is too late.

Stressing that winning two states is not enough to make him ‘Mr. President’, the ruling party spokesperson, said a return to the APC is Kwankwaso’s best way of becoming president.

“That is why I said it’s not too late for him to return to the APC. That’s where he naturally belongs and has an assurance of becoming a president one day, and not his current sectional NNPP.

“Although some people might be deceiving him by calling him Mr. President already but just one or two states in the North-west cannot make him a president. Kwankwaso needs a national party like APC to achieve his presidential ambition. So, I plead to him to do the needful before it is too late,” he said.

whether he join LP or not Nigerians don't care any more. Nigerians are tired to be ruling by quota education made people. Nigerians are tired to be rule by people whom cannot present their certificate. Kwankwaso camp is waiting for well loaded Obi to come and become VP for someone with low education level. In education level kwankwaso is illiterate where obi stand. in personal achievement Kwankwaso is a poor man to compare Obi, thank God he Kwankwaso made his money as former governor. comparing them intelligently Obi still take all. so if he can't be Obedient no body send him, he can merge with any Asiwaju people Congress, Atiku was OBJ VP what did he do? only tackling OBJ planning for OBJ impeachment so he can become president. If Kwankwaso eventually accept to be Obi VP he will continue tackling Obi where Atiku stop tackling OBJ. that is reason he went to Delta to pick his running mate because he is afraid that a Yoruba man may do to him what he does to OBJ. He should join merge with any party but not LP Obi supporters dosent need him. after all he can disappoint the LP a day to election.
