Former Minister of Petroleum Resources Diezani Alison-Madueke today appeared before a London court on charges concerning bribery during her time as minister, Reuters report.

These bribes reportedly took the form of cash, luxury goods, private jet flights, and the use of high-end properties in the United Kingdom.

Diezani Alison-Madueke served as Nigeria’s Minister for Petroleum Resources from 2010 to 2015 during the presidency of Goodluck Jonathan.

During her appearance at Westminster Magistrates Court, she provided her name, date of birth, and address.

Although she did not formally enter a plea, her attorney, Mark Bowen, informed the court that she would plead not guilty.

Allegations against Allison Madueke
Prosecutor Andy Young outlined allegations that she had accepted various benefits, both in cash and kind, from individuals seeking or already receiving lucrative oil contracts, collectively valued in the billions of dollars.

These benefits included a £100,000 ($121,620) cash delivery, payment of private school fees for her son, and the utilization and refurbishment of multiple luxurious properties in London and the English countryside.

Additional perks encompassed the use of a Range Rover vehicle, payment of chauffeur-driven car expenses, furniture purchases, and shopping at renowned London retailers such as Harrods and Vincenzo Caffarella, an establishment specializing in Italian decorative arts and antiques.

District Judge Michael Snow granted Alison-Madueke bail under certain conditions, including an overnight curfew from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., the mandatory wearing of an electronic tag, and a £70,000 surety to be paid before leaving the court premises.

It's quite a remarkable coincidence between the late rapper Tupac Amaru Shakur, known by his stage names 2Pac and Makaveli, and the late rapper Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, known professionally as MohBad.

Tupac Amaru Shakur, born Lesane Parish Crooks on June 16, 1971, and tragically passing away on September 13, 1996, was an immensely influential American rapper. He remains widely regarded as one of the most successful figures in the history of rap, having sold over 75 million records worldwide. Shakur's music often delved into pressing social issues affecting inner cities, solidifying his image as an activist against inequality.

On the night of September 13, 1996, Shakur attended a Mike Tyson-Bruce Seldon prizefight with Marion "Suge" Knight, the founder of Death Row Records, the label to which Shakur was signed. While in a BMW driven by Knight, they were ambushed at a red light near the Las Vegas Strip. Shakur suffered four gunshot wounds and succumbed to his injuries six days later.

Now, turning to MohBad, born on June 8, 1996, and unfortunately passing away on September 12, 2023, he was a notable Nigerian rapper, singer, and songwriter hailing from Lagos. MohBad gained recognition for several hit songs, including "Ponmo," "Peace," "Beast and Peace," "Sorry," "Feel Good," and "KPK (Ko Por Ke)" with Rexxie, which received three nominations at The Headies awards in 2022.

On September 12, 2023, at the age of 27, MohBad allegedly passed away due to complications from an ear infection in Lagos. A nurse who administered a Tetanus vaccine to him was later discovered to be unlicensed and was arrested by the Lagos State Police Command on September 19, 2023.

The coincidences between these two artists are striking. Both were born in the month of June and sadly passed away in September. Tupac Shakur passed away in 1996, the same year MohBad was born.

A grand jury indicted Davis, 60, on a murder charge — an outcome that has surprised few after the former Los Angeles gang leader wrote a 2019 self-published memoir, "Compton Street Legend," boasting about his involvement as an eyewitness to the shooting.

"Tupac Shakur is a music legend, and this community and worldwide have been wanting justice for Tupac," Clark County District Attorney Steve Wolfson said at a news conference Friday. "And today, we're taking that first step."

Shakur's family, fans and members of the Black community had been skeptical of the investigation and questioned why it seemed to stall year after year, despite all the attention.
