I made a failed attempt to get my police clearance today in Port Harcourt. The simple reason: while everyone on this forum says they get theirs done with about 3k, i was asked to pay 10k each for my wife and I and we would get it in a weeks time. Between us, we tried to justify the 14k difference but could not so we just put it off and will have it done in Lagos.

On the bright side, this is the first time I am going to a government owned facility to get papers done and did not run into a single tout. Even thought the guys were not in the office when i got there, they had their numbers pasted on the door so all you have to do is call and they will appear in no time at all....

jollyiwin: bro am in majestic Hotel now and i came from benin also. the hotel price is very low. 2700 and 4000 and it is just around yaba bus stop. 20 minutes drive to the embassy. i belive this will be a choice. note no AC.

Please o! don't bank on making the embassy from there in 20 minutes on a working day morning especially if yo uare not driving. try and leave as early as possible.

Meanwhile I wish you the very best!

Not that they ignored it.They asked me to make two photocopies of it,which i gave them.
I was thinking with that, the immunization fee will reduce. Though, the imminization they gave him is not in the record.

Thanks a lot for the clarification.

meanwhile your thoughts on getting accommodation close to the embassy is a really wise one. there are several really cheap hotels in Obalende and Falomo. If you go early enough, you can get a bike to take you to one in case your cab guy does not know. That's as close as you can get without spending multiples of 5k for the night. but you need to know that it may not be very comfortable considering you have a family. You can start with the officers mess guest house at falomo. very close to falomo bridge.

TCPonly: Thank God i did my medical on Monday. Though,i got there around 9:00am b/cos i went there 4rm sango area.

My greetings goes to roodboy for directions to the clinic,God bless u my brother.

Sorry sir, are you saying that they ignored the immunization you or your children had taken and did everything again? if so, did they offer an explanation for that?

G2Glory: My Fellow Forumities,
Good morning to you all and we are highly excited to inform the house that we had a successful & wonderful interview this morning.

It is the Lord's doing & it's marvelous in our sight. I am very grateful for the exprience/advice shared on this forum. By the grace of God almighty we shall all end with shouting of rejoicing in Jesus name.

Now, our Itinerary:

Pre_interview Activities:
- All documentation were properly arranged with Principal applicant leading.
- Ensured the originals & Photocopies (Birth certificate, Police report, School Certificates & Medicals) are in order.
- We ensure no document(s) was missing & did a thourogh check before leaving.
- We had a review all the forms sent KCC & had a dry run interview with my spouse for consistency.
- We got the children involved by reminding them of their birthdays.
-We prayed & sought for God's favour & help before leaving home.
-We had a baby after sending our forms to KCC & we had notified them (LagosIV) before the interview date.
-We prepared his own DS230 form & presented it at the venue.
- We left home early enough & arrived at embassy by 5.45am and drove in with the entire family.

At the Embassy:
By 6am, we moved in & there was a briefing & 2 lines were formed for Immigrant & Non-Immigrant
- Were instructed to remove phones, electronic gadgets, oil, liquid, metal object but i was allowed in with my car key.
- Were instructed to please open your medical envelopes (All seal envelopes must be opened & failure to do that point may resulted in turning you back - pls be attentive to the instruction)
- At first point: Principal applicant was called & requested for 2NL, then we were given a slip for payment, blue tags & number was given to us.
- Another slip was given to us to fill in Principal applicant name, email & Address.
- Next we got seated & waited for security checks (Pls ensure you abide the instruction to do away those items that are forbidden).
- We moved inside for final security check (scanning machine) before we were ushered into the hall.
- As you entered, you will be given a number that will serve you for the day. Immigrant applicant were other to seat separately.
- We waited patiently until they called our number for payment - we did that in USD & issued a receipt (don't misplace it).
- We got seated & waited for sometime before they started attending to Immigrant visa.
- About six(6) families came this morning & first two families were granted.
- About few minutes to 9am, my spouse was called & moved toward the counter with new baby & i was called as well.
- We were told to raise up our right hand make an oath to say the truth & we did accordingly. All forms were given to us to sign & either of us signed for the children.
- Our fingreprints were taken. I was instructed to go & sit down while my spouse was to be interviewed.
- The conversation goes thus:

CO: Your name?
Spouse: Answer according

CO: when did u get married?
Spouse: Answer accordingly

CO: Where do u work & what is your role?
Spouse:Answer accordingly

CO: You had a baby after submitting your form to KCC & what are the proof to show?
Spouse: DS 230 form was submitted & signed there, we presented the photograph for naming, church dedication, photograph showing family members with us during the naming, etc

CO: Have been to US?
Spouse: No

Now the CO called me for clarification:
CO: Have u been to US before?
Me: No

CO: You have a valid visa & why have you not used it?
Me: I explained that i was to go for a conference but had to postpone to later date.

CO: She said CONRATULATIONS. Brought 2 papers & handed it over to my spouse & explained what we need to do. All our originals were returned.

Spouse: Bursted to laughter & we gave all glory to GOD for this milestone.

Lesson & Advice for Others:

- I saw someone that came with passport phoograph that did not meet specification. Pls adhere to instruction. The person was lucky & was told to go out & take a correct one.

- Someone international passport dropped from his enveloped & never knew only for someone to find it & return it to the security guys.

-Pls avoid anything that can put on pressure & ensure that you arrnge your document very well.

- For us, they did not collect the photocpies of police report i strongly advice you go with it on the day of interview.
- Stay focus & don't manipulate in any way & by the grace of GOD we all stand 99.999% of getting if you meet the requirement.

More gist later, i need to go - GOD us all.

Congrats men.

I hope you don"t mind working for CNN cos thats what fits you...and dont worry, its not the same as working for NTA Ikeja grin

@malcolm28. I hope u have the certificates for your 1st degree and ur SSCE. Not that u will normally require them if u have a superceeding degree. But if for any reason they don't believe ur master's storry, u will still qualify based on the certificates u do have

Doublegold: Good evening all, please i would like to know if it is compulsory to go for interview with my Secondary school leaving testimonial, having already got my WAEC certificate? Also, do i need to go with my Primary Schl leaving certifiacte? I collected and lost it a long time ago. I'm a degree holder too.

Of all you have listed, the only required document is your WAEC certificate since you have a degree that should be the most important document. however, you can carry any and document along that makes you happy or boosts your confidence. Your primary school certificate does not matter at all.

Try and go thru the instructions very carefully and thoroughly

Note to all:

Please bear in mind that it will be next to impossible to change interview dates once fixed this time around. As 2NLs pour in, kindly ensure you push every potential obstacle out of the way in good time and don't take chances. If you must take time off from work, better start singing it to your boss that you wont be available that day and possibly the day before.

For those that are looking for cheap accommodation close enough to the embassy, once you get to Obalende/Falomo in Lagos, any bike or taxi can take you around a few till you find one you like which can be 5k or even lower. Just tell them what you want but mind you, you get what you pay for. Obalende/Falomo are close enough to VI and if you compare the cost of those hotels to the cost of long distance taxis (or taking a drop) you will find that you probably won't shave off more than 1 or 2 thousand naira by coming from far places.

Again, it is nice to have your documents complete so do all that is your power to get everything ready beforehand, but if there is any that you don't have, don't abandon or try to postpone the interview because of it.

God bless us all and see us through.

I think I remember that couple from DV 2013 thread but I think they were married but the husband enter as single, I believe there is a big difference with getting married after selection.

If you are married when you applied and you applied as single, your disqualification will be automatic regardless of your faith.

In this case, the couple can get married if they want but should be prepared to live with whatever comes out of it. it is not a do or die affair. the fact that it worked for one couple is no guarantee that it will work for the other. Having said that, the lady should realize that if they do push the married angle and it does not work, they will probably spend the rest of their married lives regretting the decision and the guy will probably blame her for all his misfortunes. the very foundation of what she is fighting for may be destroyed if they are the type that cant get over things like that easily.

bamideleniayo: Pls Guys, when is it appropriate to do the International passports..is it once we get the 2NL?
And 2ndly, are we going for the medical test with passports apart from the bio- data page... Thnks Much..!

You don't even need to win DV lottery to do your passport. it is always to your advantage if you have it and it is valid for 5 years so you can do it now that there is no pressure on you.

HIGH SCHOOL NO DEGREE
HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA
COLLEGE NO DEGREE
UNIVERSITY DEFREE etc.. So for someone with just SSCE as the Highest level of Education completed which one is APPLICABLE.
Because rumour has it that HIGH SCHOOL NO DEGREE applies to people who dropped out of school and HiGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA applies to people who finished High School applicable to SSCE.. PLs I need ur esteemed clarification... Thank You

high school is the equivalent of secondary school and it awards a high school diploma. so if you only have SSCE you should tick high school diploma

rcha: I have completed my bachelors degree and have worked for past 2and a half year. So I would like to know if I get a new job and start working in that job will I be denied a visa.

No, you wont be denied visa. you don't even need a job at all to qualify since you have a bachelors degree. DV visas do not require you to have money or a job. all you need is basic education and a place to stay when you get there. the things that get people disqualified are things like using the wrong passport for the application, criminal records, fake/falsified documents, failure to disclose proper marital status, failure to disclose number of children younger than 21 at the time of application and so on.
