You can take the proactive way by getting a voltmeter and it displays your voltage for you where you will constantly see or monitor the battery level.

you can just take the reactive way and order a 80A 12-30Vdc LVD on aliexpress for a easy setup (this way you set your desired voltage [12.1-12.4V] minimum

you need an electrician for this part, it is not something an untrained person can venture into.

KingGeedorah:
Thanks for the feedback

Can l have a situation where l keep the old generator cable but run a cable just for the solar inverter, where the solar inverter only powers lights and selected sockets.

OgakingGozilla rival grin

Get an original 13A plug

decommision your old generator cable if you have it

rewire the generator cable and switch the generator change over to the generator side.

you should have power.

if confused about this or running into a more complex situation, then you need a trained professsional.

Good day House,

I recently bought a solar generator (Ecoflow Delta 2) . I would like advice on how to connect it to the house to that it can power up my house lights and 2 sockets for fridge and Tv.

Presently l use extension cables to power my fridge and entertainment centre.

See attachment from their website.

Thank you in advance

You have an interesting and quite peculiar case, please share your
solar panel arrangement pics
Battery and controller and other items pics
sticker of inverter or picture

Lastly, how do it behave if or when you turn on the fridge.

Also, as a last resort, turn of all loads and use only the fridge, if it works, then continue to practices this simple tweak.,
preyeamaorutobi:
Good afternoon, great people. I found out about this wonderful solar forum just last night, and I took my time to read some comments. I really appreciate everyone here for their time invested in answering questions.

Please, I'm a newbie on this. I just got these solar systems.
Glow Energy 1.5kVA 12V Inverter
Glow Energy 220ah 12V Battery
Felicity Mppt Charge Controller 60ah,
100W Panel 6, and 300W Panel 2.

I got them about two weeks ago, and I found out that it can't power my inverter fridge with these specs.

Rating 220-240v, 50/60Hz Rated current: 1.15A Defrosting input: 220v/230-2240v Rated input of heater cord: 95w Annual energy consumption: 235 kW/year Rated power input: 65w Dimensions: 555 (W) x 585 (D) x 1520 (H) mm

I use the system for my
50-inch smart TV 120W
1 laptop lighting.
Power bank.

I never knew it wouldn't be able to power my fridge; I felt it would because it is an inverter fridge. My mistake was not doing proper research before getting it. So please, what will you advise I do or change to enable it to power the fridge and also a washing machine of 7.5 kg?

I noticed that solar panels are connected the wrong way or even those that use mc4 end up doing it the wrong way.

I attached a video showing "How an mc4 connector is properly crimpled with its associating tools and their usages"

I have added another 5kwh to my setup to enable ne have 1 day autonomy. I alao have a timer switch for my freezer. Previously when I had only 5kwh battery installed It switches on the freezer by

On 8.30am and
Off 5.30pm

Based on this arrangement by morning my battery is about 35% (5kwh)

But after adding another 5kWh making a total of 10kWh battery. I did a calculation and arrived at the on/off times for the freezer

On 6am and
Off 11pm

By morning my battery's percentage is at +/- 60% (10kWh)

If it happens to be a cloudy weather I cam go on without the need for grid dependency.

This way i don't worry anyone with switching off the lights when not in use etc...

Cost of equipment so far

LFPB 5kWh 1.071m

3. Microwave
4. Freezer 250L
5 Bedside fridge
6. Several LED Light

You need a multimeter to do an actual test of continuity on the fuse and confirm if they are still active.

Is there a reason why he will or should bond Neutral to Earth?

This isn't really code compliant. IMO

brightk:

IMHO, if u had a main db in that house and bonded ur neutral to earth.. i think only that breaker controlling the fridge will trip. and that shock wont be there. U touchin the fridge seems to complete the circuit for flow of current.

. There is more to this earthing stuff than wat the eye can see.... EXperts in the house,, does anyone have experience bonding neutral and earthing on ur main db panel?
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by olopan(m): 9:25am On Jun 14
The purpose of earth on appliances is to take dangerous voltage as the case of a metal container of an appliance touching the live conductor.

For you purpose, I believe
1. Your fridge has a rust which in turn has bridged a live conductor somewhere, hence the light voltage shocks received
2. Your earth might need improvement, as i believe it has probably had a resistive buildup, hence the shock you may be receiving.
3. check your water supply for the shower and see where you have electricity been in the mix of your setup. (suspect is likely water heater) try and ensure this is grounded and free from rust - live container bridge.

durodee:
Please what could cause my freezer to start shocking? We travelled for a few days and on return I noticed that. Just a mild shock initialy but it got worse today. Only the freezer initially, now the shower shocks IF the freezer is on. Freezer content remained well preserved. I have been using the freezer actively for years (likely 4 years or more though I bought it @12 years ago) . I have tested the socket- not guilty. The freezer works BUT CONSUMES ABOUT 1.5KW/h of power rather than the usual @200w . I noticed that today.
Once I disconnected the freezer, everything becomes normal

Is it still under warranty?

SMS products have a 1 year warranty on there products, you should get hold of the company soon.

bbally:
Good morning guys, please am in a kind of issue with my SMS hybrid inverter as am experiencing that the inverter goes to sleep often these days. Most of the time I have to do like hard reset by switching off the breaker between the inverter and solar panels if not it just stay below 30v but when I do the reset, the input panel voltage goes to 240+.
Those using this type of inverter, are you experiencing same or it's just my inverter.
I also noticed that when I switched the breaker to off, it hiss like when a drink gas out when you open the cover.
I have also swapped breaker and it's still the same experience.
Please note that all these started lately..
I NEED EXPERT OPINIONS OR POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS

Your load is what would help tell what type of system you can use.

you can calculate the load through the link in my profile, it will help you know or estimate whats needed to be used and ensure to put your results here for more input. BTW it is best used from a computer browser.

chidekings:
kind of a plaza lister that turns on for four hours daily......so which brand do you advise, and where can i buy the best ones.....thank you
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by olopan(m): 5:22am On Jun 05
These question could help you better decide
1. Is the power meter or unmetered, i.e., if it is from NEPA or a serviced generator that turns on for just the four hours stated?
2. If your answer is yes to the latter, then you need to know how the loads in the office operate.
3. Armed with these answers, you can then decide which inverter you think would be of your preffered choice, cost range and can work with lithium easily.

A lithium battery would be the best I would recommend for you with an inverter with a high charging rate so you can more and faster within the four hour uptime of your available grid.

chidekings:
hello,i have a temporal office, nothing major.....and they have light 4hrs everyday,i want a simple inverter that can power the office when the light is off, would not want to start installing solar panels.

Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by olopan(m): 6:15am On Jun 03
That's interesting

the reason is that victron has a passthrough relay or bypass if you may and they typically allows more current usage with grid.

With the mindset of other inverters, i was thinking overload should make things like mosfet or its kind to go bad.

Very interested to see the Deye, i work with Pylontech often, and I have taken apart a couple of them, The types of the ones used in the Pylontech are quite unique, so to speak.

jonescosmos:
They're pure Deye Batteries, no combos. It appears the Deye Lithium Batteries are better built than the overrated Pylontec Batteries.

I will post a take apart video of both soon.

auwal8377:

Hello, my JBD BMS will not allow charge or discharge and this happened after my 24V LIFEPO4 battery drained to zero percent (0%) (from Xiaoxing app). When the BMS is connected to the SCC, the voltage will rise quickly and register full charge delivering 0 amps. I charge it directly via the SCC to about 36% and still the BMS did not start. When I connected the load via inverter the voltage of 26.1V quickly drained to 17.3v and the inverter disconnected.
The specs of the BMS is (AP 20S006 20S 200A).
I tested charging the battery pack directly with SCC and also discharging with an inverter and it works.
It means it is the BMS that is the issue. I tried jump starting but it did not work or I didn't do it correctly.
Kindly help with the solution.
Attached is the picture of the BMS model too.
Thanks
