axum:Somali Gil's wear weaves too just like other women including white ones by the way. Bororojo please stop responding to Axum, you can't reason him. Talking to him doesn't lead anywhere. He could go to the library of congress and say he doesn't see any books and still argue. You can't wake up someone who pretends sleeping. 2 Likes |

axum:Sure you do have preferences just like many other people but still being racist and being a good Muslim are not compatible. In fact the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) had to fight tribalism among his people to spread the religion. Anyways I realize this won't do any good. Lol you just like to mess with people that's all. @ ArtanK help us find a beautiful stereotypical Somali girl for Axum to marry. It shall give him something to do. Abeg help him!!! He is in need. 3 Likes |

muafrika:It truly is a challenge, the fact that our economies are integrated to theirs ( we sell them our raw products) makes them impose anything they want upon us. Not only we need to diversify our clients, as we are doing with approaching Asian countries, but also we need to change the structure of our economies by transforming these raw materials. A region like west Africa with Nigerian oil and gas should not have problems of energy to build metal and agro industries. But we lack organization and unity. Everyone think they can do it on their own. Most countries signed the EPA because they could not do otherwise without loosing thousands of jobs. And with the so called democracies we have, no government can take tough measures without being sanctioned by the populace and opposition, chaos and disorder could ensue. If you want my honest opinion, I believe African countries need strong governments to change our economies. Just make sure, that ethnic groups are represented so avoid trouble. The other factor that explains the backwardness of francophone countries ( I am from one of them actually) is that people lack the entrepreneurial spirit. In most of those countries, people expect everything from the government including jobs. 1 Like |

Fulaman198:I was very disappointed when they invited Chris Brown to host the Kora awards as if they could not pick an African artist. They did the same by picking that student, North African as a coach. Dude failed them twice, both in the African cup of nations and World Cup. 1 Like |

Nayah:Right after finishing the conference, they made it known that native language are accepted in the National Assembly which goes completely against the idea of francophonie that wants to promote the French language. French has lost ground so much in Senegal that they are introducing native language to the educational system. Some have even proposed to translated scientific manuals in Pulaar and Wolof. I see cameroonians claiming their independence or resistance if you will to French influence, but still your currency is controlled from Paris and you recently signed the economic partnership agreement with the EU. Not only is your economy integrated to theirs but also your currency is tied to the Euro. I'd love to see you work with others to eliminate their toxic French influence in the long run, but this rising nationalism in Africa won't help. On this continent , only Nigeria can survive on her own and that is if she ensures stability so that the economy and military can grow. As far as Guinea, Senegal, Cameroon, Ghana etc... Unless we unite , we are doomed. 1 Like |

Fulaman198:Yel, Senegal has been smart at progressively extirpating herself of France cultural and political influence. Today you can speak Wolof or Pulaar at their National Assembly without being regarded as a fool. In Côte d'ivoire you couldn't do that. 1 Like |

muafrika:Well france never really left those countries. Their currency is tied to the Euro and a percentage, 50%, of their foreign trade is to be placed at the bank of France supposedly to support their currency. Up until now most of them had a French military base and those guys " trained" the armies. Basically France was providing the military protection and thus stability and controls the economy through the currency. By infiltrating their armies, their political system through the education of the elite, they have build a strong system. So most of those countries have never been really free of colonialism. Guinea is the only one that is not member of CFA zone and never had foreign forces in its territory since 1958. But Guinea did pay a heavy price for her independence as France did everything to sabotage her from dropping of fake currency, isolating her diplomatically. Unfortunately we still have leaders that think complaining can solve problems instead of strategizing. |

Fulaman198:Yes Cerno or Alfa were the two terms used for those that attained a higher level of learning in Islam. Clerics loved the term Cerno. But just like Alfa it was also used by the heads of provinces. Timbi, TImbo , Fugumba, Kollade, Kebali, Koin used Alfa for their rulers, and Timbi Touni, bhouria used Cerno. Karamoko is indeed Manden in origin, just like how you guys use Mallam. 2 Likes |

Bororojo:Bello is written Billo in FJ and it is usually a first name or middle name as in Mamadou Billo Barry. From what I have read, you guys are the ones that kept the original form of our names. Having a first name and them the town or village associated to it. FJ, MAli Fulbe chose the last names to conform to Manden society during their empire. I don't know how accurate it is but it sure is interesting. Thierno Samba Mombeya, Thierno Souleymane mo Timbi, Karamoko Alpha mo Labe, etc... That's how even our great great grandfathers called each other. |

Bororojo:If I may know which one it is ? Lol, they know that not all Fulbe wearing different last names are Habe. But still if you are from a different country, they won't assume anything. Many Fulbe know that in MAli it is common to see Cisse, Dikko, Toure Fulbe . |
