Oga boss mii... Abeg can i have your WhatsApp number pls..? Need your guidance on solar related.. Will be waiting... Thanks chief

earthrealm:

you have all this on just 8 pieces of 12v 200ah battery?.. omo u get mind...those batteries will die/get weak within 1yr, seems you are not knowledgable and fell into the hands of kazeems installers. like the one I saw on Instagram, a so called experienced installer with over 400 followers, hooked up a 1.5hp sumo on 2units 12v 200ah battery and 24v 5kw inverter...and was bragging, on how rugged the inverter is ..... an less than 2 months I give such a setup, b4 the battery go die. lead acid battery is not designed to carry such humongous load.

back to your question your 8 batteries if in good health can only carry a max of 1.6kw, so you need to ensure your panels would bring in the balance of 3kw....and also because of the varying weather/suns intensity..you may need up to 6kw panels to ensure you are sure of producing average of 3kw all the time......then the wahala of this design is that you may also exceed your battery acceptable charging current, likely 20 or 30amps.......unless its special agm that you can do 60amps.

lastly for you or anybody running or planning to run such a huge load... best you for lithium battery...or 2nd best option, these 2v 1000amp or higher battery

I have returned the inverter and he said his supplier said 4.2kva eco will be available tomorrow... Please can you help me snap the inverter and the carton so that I can inspect it carefully before I accept it

Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ooreofegrace: 9:59am On Jul 21
Just don't give yourself unnecessary headache. I will advise you to jejely retire that inverter. The max volt is btw 90-500v not this 30 or what am i seeming on the box to 400v..

Kindly return it sharp sharp and done not open.. I repeat do not open oooo..

AmakaRuby:

That means I will have to open it? I'm afraid that if I should open it and it isn't actually 4.2kva, I won't be able to return it to the seller
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ooreofegrace: 9:57am On Jul 21
What about the sticker paste beside the inverter because I can see 400 V here it's supposed to be 500 V not 400.. The max volt it can accept

AmakaRuby:

Yes, I requested for 4.2kva and was given this
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ooreofegrace: 6:15am On Jul 21
120a cc

Is this also 4.2kw 24v?

If yes, then it should come with 120a cc..

I Hv never seen 80a for 4.2 even 3.6 and co comes with 120a

AmakaRuby:

Does the welion 4.2kva inverter come with 120a cc or you bought a different cc? Asking because the one I bought is written 80a cc

Telling him to buy a 20amp mppt isnt helping the customer too. The least I'd recommend is a 40amp mppt or better still get the powmr pwm 60/80amps which has lithium charging abilities and is cheaper. U can check jumia for it

Oga boss na money oo.. You gat to help customer manage what they have to achieve what they need..what he has on ground is 200w 12v panel x2 100ah block battery 60a pwm 12v serchet inverter pure sine wave that all.. There is plan to upgrade to 12v 100ah lifepo battery in future. So he wanna get cc mppt now then battery later...

Drgreatone:

Start by telling is what ur existing setup is? Why do u want to do a 20a charger when there are higher specs?
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ooreofegrace: 9:16am On Jul 06
Good day my good ppl.. Kindly advise, which should i get out of the 2..need something that work well and also support lifepo4 battery as well..cause the guy plan to get lifepo4 later.. can see on the spec it does support it... But i need you guys option on which to go for.....Thanks.

And no.. I base in Ibadan

Thanks once again chief

dollarnaira:

In as much as I detest tubular batteries here is a personal advice.

As told by someone above get an external ac charger to charge each batteries full at lower amp in order to desulphate each.

Tubular battery is by luck. Probably you bought brand new ones that had been in stock for too long and sulphation had set in already. Desulphate and enjoy. The charging profile of tubular is annoying.

AVOID TUBULARS AT ALL COST.
Good batteries go beyond size.
Get ordinary 100a LifePO4 and experience peace of mind biko.Look beyond the miserable deceitful 220a on it. All installers will continue to have problems if they were still stuck with tubulars. Replacing batteries after 2years sef is bad on its own.

A friend of mine had all 4 tubulars bad after just 2yrs. Just imagine! My ordinary 100a 12v system is far efficient than theirs big time with my total load higher than theirs. While they are planning to replace theirs, I just got started!!! Life is too sweet with LifePO4.

I would had rather extract laptop lithium ion batteries than the best tubulars with pampering of 50% DOD.

Are you in Lagos?
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ooreofegrace: 7:59am On Jun 30
Thanks alot boss...

Can than this be achieved with the cc in the inverter or i should get external trickle charger.?

Also attached is what is on the equalizer.. The batteries are never balanced.

.
Peterlove11:

Eeyah, sorry for the stress bro. Had same issue in 2020 when I newly got introduced to the world of renewable energy. My batteries Couldn't hold charge for long, will run down very fast, and they are all new. I Called the installer, but he couldn't profer a solution. Luckily I discovered this forum.
To cut the story short, my Bluegate inverter was the culprit. Couldn't charge my batteries as per manufacturers prescribed setting. To recover the batteries, Had to trickle charge the batteries for days(I used less than 5amps, mostly 1amp charging) without using them. And eventually, they recovered. Tubular batteries, especially those that have been in the sellers shelf for a long time before being sold requires equalization or desulfation before use. The internal resistance would have increased Overtime and won't be able to accept charge as it should.
My batteries are now in it's fifth year running strong.

Trickle charge them with the Charging voltage set to around 30v. Lets hope they recover. If they are new, they should recover.
I am not an Authority in this, am only speaking based on my experience

Dam5reey1:

Their usage pattern is the cause they are deep discharging the battery.

11.99V and 10.99V is a sign of bad batteries.

Get them a minimum 5kwh LFP pack and have peace!
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ooreofegrace: 6:37am On Jun 30
Actually, I don't think they are because i monitored it my self.. And according to the low and high volt I wrote above, that exactly what in the manual book as well... Was kind of expecting bulk charge at 29v or 28.+ but on the inverter and manual as well it is written 27v and 21.8 as low.. Reason why I said they don't use pass what is explained is, this ppl na my inlaw, Dr follow instructions like say his life depends on it... If you tell him not to on it all day self, he won't ask why since it your field, he will off it that him for you.. Now back to the problem, do you think the inverter could be affecting the batteries? Could it be that pumping machine affecting them..? Kindly not, the pump was only tested on the previous battery not run on them and them just went bad before this new ones.. Now this again..

My setup once again make una help me use Oju a gba wo abeg..(experience eye look am)
585w brand new jinko PV all connected in series x3
Welion 4.2kw hybrid invert with 120a cc
Then two 220ah tubular batteries.

Load.. Pumping machine 1HP
Inverter fridge/freezer.. At high 280w and when it start running it comes down to 80w at low.
Tv 32"led which is around 35w or there abt
Decoder.. Around 15w
Then DC bulb 5w btw 5 and 10pecs sah not sure..

Kindly note pump is used only when the intensity of the sun is high and na like 3 or 4 days interval. (they once share with me the clip when they on the pump, the PV took it up.. And the battery never left the bulk state. Pump was taking around 700w+ and the PV was bring down 900w+ and once the water is full and turned off the PV will come down to just 100w above what ever it is been drown from the inverter. It doesn't event touch the battery at all..

Tv.. This only comes up during the weekend..

Refrigerator is the only appliance that run on it from 8am to 5pm now i tell them to off by 3 since this issue came up.. Kindly note that even as at that 5pm they off it, the battery stage doesn't leave bulk state always full...

With all the listed above, what the way forward.. Contacted the battery seller alaye turned me for one side.. And this Instllation was done in May last mth..

Kindly note... I Hv customers that they run two 12v 220ah tubular with 24v system on pump for year with no issue.. So i don't belive that the issue pls.. One even use it along with his old fridge in his drug store.. But i always advise them to do so hen the sun is high.

Make una help me with solutions pls.. Should i take batteries to professional battery chargers for check up? What could be the cause of all this.. Pls i need solution bosses abeg 🙏 🙏 🙏 keep on seeing messages and WhatsApp calls from him asking for way forward always cut my mind 😔 😔 will be in the comment section. Thanks all.. One love

Update

Hello chief, gone there yesterday and did few of the things listed here... (Equalizer also changed the battery settings to flood on the inverter) .. Also went with felicity 60a cc sadly that one doesn't accept more than 145v but was still able to use it to charge cause of the poor weather although when the sun intensity increases, it started blinking the warning red light. Anyways that not where am going... what I noticed myself is that, the battery doesn't take more than 10mins before it runs from full charge to completely discharge which is from 25.+v to 21.8v. and also takes abt same mins (10mins) before it get full even to bulk and float level. Let me also call una attention to this, initially when i did the installation, they had two 100ah battery which i connected to it, after abt few days the batteries became so weak and dead. I was like maybe because they've been using those for going to 2yrs maybe that was why, then we got another one.. Brand new ones this time around two tubular batteries 12v 220ah then this issues again which am just so so confused ... I also noticed the battery will start decreasing just like a clock count down.. It doesn't back up at all ones the PV is been cut off.. Same thing the previous two 100ah did.. what is the way forward, what kind of solution can I use to tackle this problem pls.. Will be in the comment section... Thanks all..

ok panels check out, WELION inverter, you need to put it on flooded battery setting, not default or choose user and set bulk to 14.7v and float to 13.8v........and activate equalization immediately and set monthly equalization too for 4hrs at 31v.

am assuming the batterys are brand new, so electrolyte SG is correct, just that its not being charged and mixing well cos of the low/wrong voltage. higher/correct charge voltage and the periodic equalization shud sort you out real quick..

your leaving the inverter on default is the likely cause of this issue, and most average installers are guilty of this as well.
also the pump load is a bit high, but if you run it only during the day, with solar panels kicking in juice, you shud be fine
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ooreofegrace: 2:55pm On Jun 26
Are you saying two 220ah tubular batteries can comfortably run 1HP pumping machine?

will tell them to use gen for now and study the set up,although hv always run my installation with pumping machine and other low load and it runs fine for yrs with no issues.

Dam5reey:

you are running about a 1KW load on 2 Tubular batteries. this is a stale story.
these batteries are for light loads.

Panels are 568w x3
The only heavy load put on the system is the pump.. Which is abt 750 or so watt..
The fridge and freezer is inverter which sometimes stayed btw 114 and 60w..
Tv is below 30w also decoder..
Then bulbs..

Abt the charging parameters, it was left on default. Will hv to get battery charger to check the level..

earthrealm:

U DIDNT MENTION ANYTHING about solar panels?.
max load you shud put on the system without damaging it is 20amps x 24volts wch is about 500watts....that pumping machine, have you checked the actual draw?..same for the freezer.

what of battery charge voltage algorithm...what voltages did u set the inverter to?..abi you just left it on default?
check the SG of the battery electrolyte with a hydrometer and be sure its good
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by Ooreofegrace: 10:45am On Jun 26
Hybrid Inverter.... Wilion 4.2kw
Jinko panel.. 580w x3.. Brand new..all in series input volt btw 130v and 150v
It's always on flot 27. v during suning hrs even with pumping machine on it..

No additional load.. Their tv is 35w..32" led TV which they use only during the weekend in the afternoon..

Drgreatone:

What type of inverter are u using and the nos/type of panels u used? Suspecting sms though. How are u sure they are not putting extra loads and not mentioning it. Its either that or the batteries aren't charging well sha

Good day bosses in the house...

Abeg make una help me with solutions to the below problem ..

Did 4.2kw 24v installation with two 220ah tubular batteries abt 2mths ago.

Now the customer sent me a message this morning that for abt one week now the batteries goes off around 2-3am with just DC bulb load (10pices of 5W each).

Load use on the battery.. 1HP pumping machine.. Once in abt 3 and days, running hrs like 1hr max during the day.

Inverter fridge and freezer from 8am to 6pm now reduced to 3pm

And the DC bulb for night useage..

Kindly note that the batteries get alot of charge before the sun goes of.. It always in the float state before it comes down to the normal 50% battery level and still sound for low battery warning even without much load around 3am max..

What can i do to rewake or b boost the batteries pls..?

Thanks all.

Dam5reey:

Most of the time Energy ratings on Appliances are peak power and not continuous power, especially for Heating and cooling elements.

The best way to understand your usage is to add an energy meter, Smart plugs, and a watt meter plugged it will calculate your usage.

For the sake of a rough estimate, take the 270w as the power.
270W Plus 30W inverter consumption is 300W rough estimate.

your 12V 100Ah is 1280wh = 4 hours usage
12 200Ah is 2560 = 8 hours usage
