Romance / Re: The Lies Of The "No Sex Before Marriage" Deals. by Otunbakay(m): 3:15pm On Sep 01, 2013

Goldenboy007: The recent story about the adventurous lady with the popular man of God in Abuja brings me to this topic. These days it seems churches have now become a harem for girls of questionable virtues. Although this problem had been existing for a while but it seems more prominent nowadays. Churches used to be an holy sanctuary where moral values are inculcated but these days they have become a sanctuary for chronic unrepentant revelers and moral degenerates, these houses of prayers have now become proverbial "Den of Thieves".

Okay, the above is a topic for the Religion Section; to my main concern. Most of the guys - "wife prospectors"- in the church are familiar with the slogan "No sex before marriage", most times "brothers" that have honored these No sex deals have found themselves in deceitful marriages. Don't get me wrong, this is not an advocacy for moral indiscretion but these days that term has been severally used with ulterior motives. These daughters of Eve have now adapted to the guys strategy of running to church to pick "good" girls so they too have repackaged their product to meet market preference. I laugh at losers that fall into the hands of such born again Jezebels, they know how to dangle the forbidden fruit in your front for so long that your common sense would short circuit! Some guys are just pure ignorant or reaping their atrocious deeds. You meet a girl in church, she claims born again so no sex, you are there suffering from "Conji" and she is there getting regular servicing from assistant boyfriend. You are just a bloody ignoramus, bible that says be as wise as serpent but gentle as dove knows what its talking about, that same mouth you are reserving for " You may now kiss the bride" is the same lips giving one nuisance nincompoop "mouth action"(Seun's correction Bot word for BJ). I once went for a wedding where the bride was a topic of discussion for a group of guys sitting next to me, it was obvious they have all "marked register" at one time with Holy Cinderella and the "Dollo" groom was there busy dancing Alingo for his wise choice !!! There is this story of a church sister i know very well, a choir member....Ok story for another day.
This topic is rightly on point, wherther we choose to accept it or not, though there are very minute number of girls in our churches today, that are sincere and have got nothing to hide. A know of a lady presently now playin the no sex game with a guy in her church. Meanwhile she is still sleeping with her lover of about five years relationship knowing fully well that d relationship is bound for doom. What baffles me is, why she woundn't just be faithful to d church guy. With ladys, just anything is possible!

It's funny seeing people fighting over a non-issue. If we all know and agree that these are viral diseases and that they are deadly, would it not be wise for us to watch our ways and check our activities? Whether they kill 2day or 2moro they will eventually take u 2 ur grave prematurely and painfully so too. Be wise and avoid them all.

Career / Re: 20 Things 20-year-olds Dont Get by Otunbakay(m): 6:57pm On Jul 26, 2013
Let those who have ears hear the voice of WISDOM! Thumb up dude.
Matthew briggs: Yea I am one of those people that hates lists, But atimes I've learnt they help convey large information in segments. Moreover I stumbled on this one on forbes which I think is worth sharing.

Tip: its Quite lengthy, I highlighted the headings to enable you scan through it and get the key points.

Enjoy.

20 Things 20-Year-Olds Don’t Get.

Time is Not a Limitless Commodity – I so rarely find young professionals that have a heightened sense of urgency to get to the next level. In our 20s we think we have all the time in the world to A) figure it out and B) get what we want. Time is the only treasure we start off with in abundance, and can never get back. Make the most of the opportunities you have today, because there will be a time when you have no more of it.

You’re Talented, But Talent is Overrated - Congratulations, you may be the most capable, creative, knowledgeable & multi-tasking generation yet. As my father says, “I’ll Give You a Sh-t Medal.” Unrefined raw materials (no matter how valuable) are simply wasted potential. There’s no prize for talent, just results. Even the most seemingly gifted folks methodically and painfully worked their way to success. (Tip: read “Talent is Overrated”)

We’re More Productive in the Morning – During my first 2 years at Docstoc (while I was still in my 20’s) I prided myself on staying at the office until 3am on a regular basis. I thought I got so much work done in those hours long after everyone else was gone. But in retrospect I got more menial, task-based items done, not the more complicated strategic planning, phone calls or meetings that needed to happen during business hours. Now I stress an office-wide early start time because I know, for the most part, we’re more productive as a team in those early hours of the day.

Social Media is Not a Career – These job titles won’t exist in 5 years. Social media is simply a function of marketing; it helps support branding, ROI or both. Social media is a means to get more awareness, more users or more revenue. It’s not an end in itself. I’d strongly caution against pegging your career trajectory solely to a social media job title.

Pick Up the Phone – Stop hiding behind your computer. Business gets done on the phone and in person. It should be your first instinct, not last, to talk to a real person and source business opportunities. And when the Internet goes down… stop looking so befuddled and don’t ask to go home. Don’t be a pansy, pick up the phone.

Be the First In & Last to Leave – I give this advice to everyone starting a new job or still in the formative stages of their professional career. You have more ground to make up than everyone else around you, and you do have something to prove. There’s only one sure-fire way to get ahead, and that’s to work harder than all of your peers.

Don’t Wait to Be Told What to Do – You can’t have a sense of entitlement without a sense of responsibility. You’ll never get ahead by waiting for someone to tell you what to do. Saying “nobody asked me to do this” is a guaranteed recipe for failure. Err on the side of doing too much, not too little. (Watch: Millennials in the Workplace Training Video)

Take Responsibility for Your Mistakes – You should be making lots of mistakes when you’re early on in your career. But you shouldn’t be defensive about errors in judgment or execution. Stop trying to justify your F-ups. You’re only going to grow by embracing the lessons learned from your mistakes, and committing to learn from those experiences.

You Should Be Getting Your Butt Kicked – Meryl Streep in “The Devil Wears Prada” would be the most valuable boss you could possibly have. This is the most impressionable, malleable and formative stage of your professional career. Working for someone that demands excellence and pushes your limits every day will build the most solid foundation for your ongoing professional success.

A New Job a Year Isn’t a Good Thing – 1-year stints don’t tell me that you’re so talented that you keep outgrowing your company. It tells me that you don’t have the discipline to see your own learning curve through to completion. It takes about 2-3 years to master any new critical skill, give yourself at least that much time before you jump ship. Otherwise your resume reads as a series of red flags on why not to be hired.

People Matter More Than Perks – It’s so trendy to pick the company that offers the most flex time, unlimited meals, company massages, game rooms and team outings. Those should all matter, but not as much as the character of your founders and managers. Great leaders will mentor you and will be a loyal source of employment long after you’ve left. Make a conscious bet on the folks you’re going to work for and your commitment to them will pay off much more than those fluffy perks.

Map Effort to Your Professional Gain – You’re going to be asked to do things you don’t like to do. Keep your eye on the prize. Connect what you’re doing today, with where you want to be tomorrow. That should be all the incentive you need. If you can’t map your future success to your current responsibilities, then it’s time to find a new opportunity.

Speak Up, Not Out – We’re raising a generation of sh-t talkers. In your workplace this is a cancer. If you have issues with management, culture or your role & responsibilities, SPEAK UP. Don’t take those complaints and trash-talk the company or co-workers on lunch breaks and anonymous chat boards. If you can effectively communicate what needs to be improved, you have the ability to shape your surroundings and professional destiny.

You HAVE to Build Your Technical Chops – Adding “Proficient in Microsoft Office” at the bottom of your resume under Skills, is not going to cut it anymore. I immediately give preference to candidates who are ninjas in: Photoshop, HTML/CSS, iOS, WordPress, Adwords, MySQL, Balsamiq, advanced Excel, Final Cut Pro – regardless of their job position. If you plan to stay gainfully employed, you better complement that humanities degree with some applicable technical chops.

Both the Size and Quality of Your Network Matter – It’s who you know more than what you know, that gets you ahead in business. Knowing a small group of folks very well, or a huge smattering of contacts superficially, just won’t cut it. Meet and stay connected to lots of folks, and invest your time developing as many of those relationships as possible. (TIP: Here is my Networking Advice)

You Need At Least 3 Professional Mentors – The most guaranteed path to success is to emulate those who’ve achieved what you seek. You should always have at least 3 people you call mentors who are where you want to be. Their free guidance and counsel will be the most priceless gift you can receive. (TIP: “The Secret to Finding and Keeping Mentors”)

Pick an Idol & Act “As If” – You may not know what to do, but your professional idol does. I often coach my employees to pick the businessperson they most admire, and act “as if.” If you were (fill in the blank) how would he or she carry themselves, make decisions, organize his/her day, accomplish goals? You’ve got to fake it until you make it, so it’s better to fake it as the most accomplished person you could imagine. (Shout out to Tony Robbins for the tip)

Read More Books, Less Tweets/Texts – Your generation consumes information in headlines and 140 characters: all breadth and no depth. Creativity, thoughtfulness and thinking skills are freed when you’re forced to read a full book cover to cover. All the keys to your future success, lay in the past experience of others. Make sure to read a book a month (fiction or non-fiction) and your career will blossom.

Spend 25% Less Than You Make – When your material needs meet or exceed your income, you’re sabotaging your ability to really make it big. Don’t shackle yourself with golden handcuffs (a fancy car or an expensive apartment). Be willing and able to take 20% less in the short term, if it could mean 200% more earning potential. You’re nothing more than penny wise and pound-foolish if you pass up an amazing new career opportunity to keep an extra little bit of income. No matter how much money you make, spend 25% less to support your life. It’s a guaranteed formula to be less stressed and to always have the flexibility to pursue your dreams.

Your Reputation is Priceless, Don’t Damage It – Over time, your reputation is the most valuable currency you have in business. It’s the invisible key that either opens or closes doors of professional opportunity. Especially in an age where everything is forever recorded and accessible, your reputation has to be guarded like the most sacred treasure. It’s the one item that, once lost, you can never get back.

Everybody knows the major problem is corruption, nobody should tell me otherwise.

The stolen money all the way from Abacha's time to the present day and age, do you guys realize just how much money that is?

So please all these yans about oh, we need to do this and that, I am not impressed.

Didn't I hear he bought a jet worth 45 million dollars, who does that in a developing country? That alone is enough to lose my support.

If a God fearing nairlander was a local Governor, and we gave him that money, do you know all he can accomplish? He could get a plot of land to build a SOLAR FARM, that will solve electricity problems just like that within that district. I have heard of 10MW solar farms that are up and running in less than 6 months.

All these guys are not sincere, and it breaks my heart. I am not partisan, I just feel most of them are corrupt.
Very well said, dude! But let me say this as a matter of fact, that, all of the political class are corrupt without an exception.

Politics / Re: Sani Abacha - 15 Years After by Otunbakay(m): 3:38pm On Jun 08, 2013
Kewt: Sadly, 15 after, and 14 years of unfettered democratic rule, not much has changed.

Below is the speech he read to Nigerians on the eve of his hostile take over of government from Chief Ernest Shonekan:

Fellow Nigerians, sequel to the resignation of the former Head of the Interim National Government and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Chief Ernest Shonekan and my subsequent appointment as Head of State and Commander-in-Chief, I have had extensive consultations within the armed forces hierarchy and other well meaning Nigerians in a bid to find solutions to the various political, economic and social problems which have engulfed our beloved country, and which have made life most difficult to the ordinary citizen of this nation.

Chief Ernest Shonekan took over as Head of State and Commander-in-Chief of the Nigerian Armed Forces at a most trying time in the history of the country. Politically, economically, and socially, there were lots of uncertainties. Things
appeared bleak and the atmosphere was heavy with uncertainties. However, driven by a belief in himself, his countrymen,
and love for his country, he accepted to face the challenges of our time. I will, therefore, like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to him for his selfless service to the nation. He showed great courage at taking on the daunting task of heading the Interim National Government and even greater courage to know when to leave. Many have expressed fears about the apparent return of the military.

Many have talked about the concern of the international community. However, under the present circumstances the survival of our beloved country is far above any other consideration. Nigeria is the only country we have. We must, therefore, solve our problems ourselves. We must lay a very solid foundation for the growth of democracy. We should avoid any ad hoc or temporary solutions. The problems must be addressed firmly, objectively, decisively and with all sincerity of purpose. Consequently, the following decisions come into immediate effect:

The Interim National Government is hereby dissolved.
The National and State Assemblies
are also dissolved.
The State Executive Councils are
dissolved.

The Brigade Commanders are to take over from the Governors in their States until Administrators are appointed. Where there are no Brigade Commanders, the Commissioners of Police in the State are to take over.
All Local Governments stand dissolved. The Directors of Personnel are to take over the administration of the Local
Governments until Administrators are appointed.

All former Secretaries to Federal Ministries are to hand over to their
Directors-General until Ministers are appointed.

The two political parties are hereby dissolved.
All processions, political meetings and associations of any type in any part of the country are hereby banned.
Any consultative committee by whatever name called is hereby proscribed.
Decree 61 of 1993 is hereby abrogated.

A Provisional Ruling Council (PRC), is hereby established. It will comprise:

The Head of State, Commander-in-
Chief of the Armed Forces of the federal Republic of Nigeria as Chairman.
The Chief of General Staff as Vice-Chairman
The Honourable Minister of Defence
The Chief of Defence Staff
The Service Chiefs
The Inspector General of Police
The Attorney General and Minister
of Justice
The Internal Affairs Minister
The Foreign Affairs Minister

Also, a Federal Executive Council will be put in place.

Our security system will be enhanced to ensure that lives of citizens, property of individuals are protected and preserved. Drug trafficking and other economic crimes such as 419 must be tackled and eliminated. On the current
strike throughout the nation following the increase in the price of fuel, I appeal to all the trade unions to return to work immediately. We cannot afford further dislocation and destruction of our economy. On the closed
media houses, government is hereby lifting the order of proscription with immediate effect.

We, however, appeal to the media houses that in this spirit of national reconciliation, we should show more restraint and build a united and peaceful Nigeria.

Fellow Nigerians, the events of the past months, starting from the annulment of the June 12
presidential election, culminating in the appointment of the former Head of State, Chief Ernest Shonekan, who unfortunately resigned yesterday, are well known to you.

The economic downturn has undoubtedly been aggravated by the ongoing political crisis. We require well thought-out and
permanent solutions to these problems if we are to emerge stronger for them. Consequently, a constitutional conference with full constituent powers will be established soon to determine the future constitutional structure of
Nigeria. The constitutional conference will also recommend the method of forming parties,
which will lead to the ultimate recognition of political parties formed by the people. While the conference is on, the re-organisation and reform of the following major institutions will be carried out:

The Military
The Police
The Customs
The Judiciary
NITEL
NNPC
NEPA
The Banking Industry
Higher Educational Institutions

This regime will be firm, humane, and decisive. We will not condone nor tolerate any act of indiscipline.
Any attempt to test our will be decisively dealt with.

For the International Community, we ask that you suspend judgment while we grapple with the onerous task
of nation building, reconciliation and repairs. This government is a child of necessity with a strong determination to restore peace and stability to our country and on these foundations, enthrone a lasting and true democracy. Give
us the chance to solve our problems in our own ways.

Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria

General Sani Abacha
GCFR
President Federal Republic Of Nigeria

Beautiful speech but alas! He was the devil in human skin. Nonetheless those dat had d opportunity to rule the country till date 're nt better off

Romance / Re: Caught My Fiancee Cheating, Should I Go Ahead by Otunbakay(m): 10:58pm On May 10, 2013
slightlyMad: I always believe women cheat as much as men do but i dont want to imagine my woman doing this.
I really dont go through my woman's phone but she once made a comment that got me suspecting a particular guy on her BBM.
as nature would have it, she was dead asleep while i was awake around 2am coding away.

her phone beeped from a ping. i ignored it, 2 minutes, it beeped again so i looked through to see if it was an emergency cos it was just too late for anyone to be awake and making sure others dont sleep too.

Well, it turned out to be this dude she has always been talking about, she once said if she was broke, this dude will give him whatever he wants without even asking to touch her "big lie, i said to myself"

so i decided to follow up on what could be going on btw them.
she is smart to always clear her history but that did not stop me this very night.

i replied, "hello, you are still awake?"
so we kept talking and i kept him on for like 30 minutes on generic discussions.
at the point where i believe he would never doubt whom he is on to
i started the harmless intimate talks
"i miss you", he replied "really?"
i said "yes nau", my girl uses "nau" after "yes" every time we chat so i used that to make him feel more comfi.
so i asked "when are we seeing"

he replied "we will talk abt that tomorrow"

my conclusion from that sentence is that he wants them to talk about "when to see", when they meet tomorrow.
meaning he interpreted "when are we seeing" as "when are we having sex"

so i took the giant leap from there by saying
"how i wish you were beside me here"
he replied, "but you always act like you dont enjoy it every time we have it"
then i said, "thats because you dont try to turn me on very well",
i stopped chatting with the psycho when he started asking some irritatingly dumb questions like "do you think my thing is always to weak for you?"

bottom line my babe woke up, asked me what i was doing with her fone.
I asked her "what is btw you and this guy"
she said nothing, ok, have u at anytime in the past had sex with him? she said no

so i showed her that chat conversation, then she started begging
crying like a baby with tears everywhere claiming guy was her ex "another big lie".
3am till like 11am, she wont stop crying and pleading to give her another chance.
she deleted the guy's contact in a bid to convince me

Well i did forgive her but i got back the key to my house from her.
my intention is to give her another chance and test her a month later.
well, 2 weeks later, she goofed.

we were arguing over something else when i noticed she was reaching for her phone and subconsciously i was pulling away from her, suddenly i became curious and wanted to go through her phone, but this time with her consent.
she claimed she needed to make a very important call, so i let her have it, only for her to dial her mum and she really wasn't passing across any important info other that the usual expected greetings, so i waited for her to conclude the call, we started the war of "let me see, no you cant see"

i really dont know what she was hiding so i decided to play a smart one, i acted like "whatever" and walked away
i left her to navigate to where ever she intends to navigate to on her fone for like 10 second, only to run back at her and dragging her phone from her, though she clamped it in her hands very hard, i managed to retrieve it
and behold on the screen
i saw "are you sure you want to delete this contact"
i clicked cancel, and it was the same old guy she cheated on me with.

she pleaded she wanted to get something back from him, thats why she added him back
Inside me, i am through with her.
but here is the twist, there are some attributes she has that i must confess is priceless.
the connection we both have is so strong that we look forward to seeing each other even when we part for 1 day, she is my kind of girl and very intelligent.
i have this very strict list of personal requirements my woman must have, up to 7 in the list
she has all 7, come add cheating to am.
i am an ardent believer that 90% women cheat but that she got caught does not mean whoever am gonna end up with wont be worse or even lack some of these attributes i desire.

Do you think i should forget her and i will find someone who wont cheat?
my time is ticking very fast to start trying this and that girl.
we have talked about it and she say it wont happen again

seeing that post on the homepage about the married dude whose wife was cheating got me thinking again
PLEASE DONT MAKE A JOKE OUT OF THIS.
Thanks.
These women wont kill us! What is it really do they enjoy in cheating? Money? Se x? or just the fun of it? Afterward they start to claim innocency. You will hear them say "Men 're one and the same, he dumped me after three years of relationship. He has broken my heart, i can never love any man again"
@ Op i would like to say that the earlier you start searching for your true love the better for you. Forget the nonsense that your time is ticking. A broken relationship is far more better than a broken marriage. She will never change because it's her hobby and a life style she is used to. May God help you make the right decision.

Soludo's Solution Of Anger And Innuendo By Nasir El Rufai
Posted: May 10, 2013 - 00:50

Long before the publication of The Accidental Public Servant, I had decided to resist joining issues with whatever commentators wrote in response to the book by way of either attacking the author or its contents. It is a narrative of my experiences and views, and I would simply invite others to document theirs. Many of those that commented on, or 'reviewed' the book had not even read it in full. Others had decided long before it was published that they would attack El-Rufai and whatever he writes, while a few others were simply going to be unhappy with how they were presented in the book as being less than perfect. When one writes a 700-page book, one has to take a deep breath and allow others the slack to write a few pages in response, however disagreeable or abusive.

When I wrote The Accidental Public Servant, there were no illusions that its account would be uncontested. As I have said repeatedly, it is simply my account of the people and events that defined my years in public service. I took several precautions (such as double-checking from the copious notes and diaries of events that were taken after every major encounter - about forty seven note books in total) of ensuring that it is a truthful, balanced and fair account of my experience. I do not have a professorial memory, so kept daily journals of events including verbatim records of statements. I am delighted that I took the time to write it, and I once again encourage others who have been privileged to be in the public service to similarly record their experiences. Those who may choose not to write books can still contribute by responding to specific issues mentioned in my narrative on which they may have other information, however critical or contrary to my account.

Professor Charles (I have always called him Charles because that is how we were introduced. I have never gotten used to calling him Chukwuma) Soludo approached me at the end of the recent thanksgiving service for my sister, Oby Ezekwesili, to complain about some of the assertions in my book concerning him. He denied that he owed his consulting jobs with the World Bank and other institutions to Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. He denied being mentored or taught by her father. He added that he had not read the entire book but would send me two pages of his initial observations. I encouraged him not only to do so, but publish it and work on a book documenting his experiences. Knowing Charles as I do, I had no doubt that he was already doing that and the first episode has now been published in his fortnightly column in Thisday.

Thus, his rebuttal did not come as a surprise; given that I encouraged him to do so as I have nothing to hide. Even so, it is shocking that he chose to sensationalise his version of events by describing The Accidental Public Servant as intellectual fraud. There is a question mark in the title of his article, but the last sentence of Charles' diatribe restated his magisterial conclusion. He went further to provide his own definitions of fraud as "an intentional deception made for personal gain or to damage another individual" or "as course of deception, an intentional concealment, omission or perversion of truth"; only to stop there! Fraud has a technical and legal definition and if Charles had bothered to consult his lawyer, he would have gone beyond the 'online definition', but that is another matter for now.

It is illogical to contest someone’s CV with him in the absence of contrary and superior information. I therefore concede to Charles' account of his professional odyssey prior to his being introduced to us in 2000 by Ngozi Okonjo Iweala, long before joining the Obasanjo government in 2003. The logical question therefore is how any of the examples he gave of the errors in his resume would without more, rise to the level of fraud? Why would I intentionally deceive the world that Soludo's tenure as governor of CBN started in mid-2005 rather than May of 2004? This only occurred when one of the book's editors thought the 2004 date was wrong and 'corrected' it but that escaped subsequent editorial reviews. What is the personal gain to me in describing Soludo as a protégé of Professor Okonjo or how did the description damage him when he just referred to the same Professor Okonjo as "respected"? So, Charles needs to substantiate how any assertion, error or omission in the book amounts to "fraud" per his definition.

After that, I do not see much that is significant to warrant a clarification from me. One friend on Twitter observed that Charles' polemic had so much anger and little substance that he truly sounded as angry as a woman scorned! Much of Charles’ response is enlivened by innuendos. He repeats the frequent charge about my ambition for the presidency in 2007, a charge that is untrue but that is often echoed as if that ambition, if it existed, is akin to treason. Charles knows that I do not consider illegitimate his desire to be governor of his state or his current hopes to be a presidential running-mate. But he should know better than most that ambition for office is not the only reason for being active in politics. Since Charles has claimed that I 'schemed desperately' to succeed Obasanjo, he should please tell all - inform Nigerians what I did, who was involved and spill the beans! Virtually all the narratives in The Accidental Public Servant about Charles involved others that are still alive, and if he said I made them up, perhaps he should state his version and invite others mentioned to invalidate my claim instead of calling anyone a liar just because he did not like the way his conduct appeared in the book.

Charles was introduced to me by Ngozi, and that was the foundation of our professional relationship and friendship. As far as I know, it was also Ngozi who proposed his name for economic adviser and Oby (and her husband) took him to Obasanjo several times before he was appointed. If Charles is denying that this happened, that is fine. It does not change the facts, and those that did what they did know what they did or did not do! Why is Charles so hurt that others have helped him? Is he suggesting that he had won the Nobel Prize in Economics and that is how Obasanjo got to meet and appoint him?

Charles presented his jaundiced interpretations of what I wrote in clear language as my views in his piece. For instance, there was nowhere in the book that I wrote that 'Ngozi was power hungry.' She was pragmatic and realistic about power relations. How does that equate to being power hungry? Charles is playing with words in a patently dishonest way, knowing that many that will read his piece have not read the book, but he is not the intellectual fraud! Charles also asserted that I forced myself on the economic team and “destroyed it”! Was it El-Rufai that composed the membership of the team? When and how was the team single-handedly destroyed by me? As far as I know, warts and all, the economic team kept on working till May 29, 2007. Again, I invite Charles to educate us all now, bearing in mind virtually all the team members are still alive and around, even after he stopped attending its weekly meetings.

In the book, I wrote that Charles did many things to ingratiate himself to Obasanjo, one of which was to attribute every good 'idea' to the latter; not actual achievements, since there were few in the early days. Charles' response was to misrepresent what was written, just as he knows that there is no weight to the claim that appointees under a presidential system cannot claim credit for their work. To acknowledge the opportunity President Obasanjo gave me to serve, and the support he provided to help us succeed at the FCT is very different from pretending that only the boss had any ideas on how to administer Abuja, or that he oozed perfection, presidential system or not.

Charles also came out guns blazing questioning my narratives of events involving his new mentor Atiku Abubakar, and Nuhu Ribadu and Obasanjo. In Charles' views, these three people made me tick in government and I should be eternally grateful. Charles has not read the book. If he did, he would have come across all the instances in which I gave each of them credit for what they did right and how they contributed to the work I did. Unlike Charles who makes people believe they are perfect when he needs them, I was consistent in and out of office in pointing to those I worked with where I believe they went wrong Just as I was self critical of my own shortcomings. In Charles' vocabulary, that is ingratitude. In mine, it is simply utilitarian sycophancy to attribute perfection to imperfect mortals because they are likely to help one's career next week!

Charles claimed that I pleaded with him to provide technical assistance to BPE. That is false. That conversation just never happened. Those familiar with BPE know that we hired people either as regular public servants, individual consultants called 'core team' members that work full time in the organization or investment bankers and consulting firms like lawyers and accountants that provided periodic transactional services as needed. Charles and his economic consulting firm did not fit into any of the three categories. I appointed him to the membership of two reform steering committees - Competition and Anti-Trust and the Industry and Manufacturing Reform Committees along with persons of the calibre of Pat Utomi, Oby Ezekwesili, and Aliko Dangote. I was the coordinator of both committees as DG of the BPE, with Ibrahim S. Njiddah, now a presidential assistant doing the day-to-day management. I am now learning from the Charles’ piece that he single-handedly did the work of the Competition Reform Committee for free. I did not realize that all the other notable members did nothing! Well, thanks Charles, but Steering Committee members got hotel accommodation and were paid sitting allowances by the BPE, so I do not quite understand what was meant by asserting that you did the work free of charge.

That leaves us with asking Charles to detail the fraud he alleges was attendant to the efforts we made to restore the Abuja master plan. He claimed that my ‘vindictiveness’ nearly ruined the exercise. Really? There is need to say more right on this away. I am challenging Charles to substantiate these innuendos with names and details of my alleged vindictiveness in his article since everybody knows that my service at the FCT is a matter of public record that has been investigated by several institutions unsympathetic to me, and all Abuja residents know about and still comment upon it.

The rest of Soludo’s article was spent blowing his trumpet of banking consolidation with his characteristic modesty! The dismissal of Charles' over-hyped banking consolidation in The Accidental Public Servant therefore appeared to upset him more than anything else. He is still under the illusion that his 'revolution' changed our lives the way GSM licensing did! No one needs a single 234Next to see through the hype and the disingenuous comparison. Banks like First Bank, UBA, Union, Zenith IBTC, and GTB needed no consolidation. They had sound business models and were doing well without it. Soludo’s consolidation abolished investment banks and regional banks, while creating a few ‘big’ banks with funny names many of which were either comatose by 2009 or had to be subsequently saved by the Sanusi Lamido Sanusi rescue exercise. It is pathetic to measure the success of consolidation by the number of banks in the top 1,000 banks in the world. Did that ranking translate into increased lending to the real sector, greater employment opportunities for our people and intensified mobilization of savings in the way the GSM revolution did? No way, only massive margin loans to create a stock market bubble, engender insider lending and incestuous relations between regulators and operators in the industry.

The kind of targeted interventions needed to fill the gaps sustained by some of such policies were opposed by Soludo unless the ideas originated from him. As CBN governor, Charles did all he could to frustrate the attempts to establish a national mortgage system and was openly critical of Ngozi's drive and contributions in getting the Paris Club debts written off for the simple reason that the the credit might go to others not Soludo!

Charles is free to beat his chest and claim that the deformed baby called consolidation was a revolution, but today many of the the poster-children of the policy like Intercontinental, Oceanic, Finbank and Spring Bank are history, the banking-stockbroking rock stars are facing prosecution, and with N4 trillion spent to prevent the collapse of his revolution. When Charles’ memoirs are published, those that either witnessed it or had to clean up ‘the world’s fastest growing financial system’ will have their own views. And it will be good for the country. After all, it has been said that every story has at least three sides, my version, your version and the truth which lies somewhere in between the two. If one refers to a book one finds disagreeable as intellectual fraud while insisting that a cancer one created that has cost nearly the annual budget of the federal government to treat, so far, as a resounding success, then what more is there to say? It simply points to the moral and psychological mind-set of such a person.

Chei! Ewo oo! Your assertions 're nothing short of the truth, in actual facts i'm experiencing quite a number of the above listed in my relationship of over two yrs. What got me even more pissed off was when she told me to my face without mincing words that she can call whoever she wishes to call and recieve call from whomever she wishes, which before now she dare not try. We however 're not in talking terms for over a week now and i hope it will last long enough to bring an end to the relationship even though she calls but i dont just feel like talking to her. I felt betrayed because i'm proud to say i have never cheated on her, for real, i swear.

Investment / Re: Nigerian Stocks That Make You Happy All The Time by Otunbakay(m): 9:18pm On May 04, 2013
Oh no! Not again! Honestly, whenever i hear the word 'stocks' or 'nigeria stock exchange' my heart bleed. It happened that between 2006 and 2008 i bought into public offers of intercontinental bank, now bought over by access, first bank and bankphb, now keystone. I invested seven hundred thousand naira plus, with bankphb taking about 70% of the cash and the two other banks sharing the remainder. My fellow nlander the rest is history as we all know what follows after the global meltdown and the sanusi cleansing. My regret howerver, is that most of my investment went into the very wrong banks...... phb and intercontinental. I was caught in their web...... i bought into their coporate deception! I actually thought i was investing into my future as the fund then was idle. The shares i have with first bank however, have almost doubled in the number of shares owned (thanks to their bonus issues) but the value in naira is nothing near the amount paid for the initial shares, nevertheless, i'm thankful 2 them for allowing me to still hold unto something unlike the bankphb and intercontinental shares that completely went down the drain 100%. If wishes were horses i would turn back the hands of clock and invest that fund more wisely, as i now know better.

vivalableue: @OP I don't know what to say. Men are just complicated beings. I myself always get more numbers when am wearing no makeup sweat pants etc, but my thing is that I look very sad and maybe these guys are trying to take advantage of me?

When I am dressed up all the white boys go after me like bread on butter and the black guys get more aggressive in their approaches. My conclusion, you want a man who loves to see you look good, and loves your intelligence too. Don't forget, book smart doesn't necessarily mean street smart too o. Maybe you excel in an academic or business environment, but lack in other equally important ones. Sometimes people who spend a lot of time in academia tend to be socially awkward. Men don't want to approach a lady who doesn't know how to relax and enjoy herself or can't hold up a solid conversation on what seems like invaluable subjects (i.e. football, politics, F1, etc). Do have a lot of friends who can hook you up with someone? If the answer is no, then go out and make new girlfriends who will take you shopping and have dinner or something like that. Its the best way to find out a)if you can gist with people other than professors and the like, b)if they have any handsome, single friends and c) the competition because hey its a battle out there!

Good Luck

@tjololade:
LOVE DOESN'T REALLY EXIST PER SAY.

Its hard to believe but trust me. Humans do not have the capacity to love as such.

We are fallible.

A man or woman will leave you if you are crippled. She might stay but he or she will not be happy but love they say is long suffering.

We only have accommodation. Love that is necessary because of marriage or we have what we call "getting used to". Fear as well as inferiority complex also makes us believe we are in love.

Love is a topic that is difficult to explain.

Absolutely true...... 100% on point!

My question: are they really right? If yes, why?

Yeah, our beloved country unfortunately is even more of a private limited coy than a public liability coy. I don't support this at all. This is inhumane,we are citizens of the same country. This is more or less Apartheid.

If the governor wants to save money,he should cut down the salary of all top Government officials and do away with expensive Government cars.

If Ekiti state can not take care of the children ,they should appeal to the FGN for help or create a website where concerned citizens can donate to help fund the care of this people.

If the Governor wants to contest in an election now ,it won't be hard for him to find sponsors.

That is why i maintain that Africans are the most selfish people on this planet.I think our Governors are now starting to get arrogant and selfish. We Yorubas are not monsters and we don't support actions like this. These are not beggars ,they are physically challenged people.

On the other hand ,the delta state Government should be ashamed of itself. With all the money being generated from oil ,how come they can't cater for their needy
Objectiveness should be the watch word of every contribution, worth the time spent on any post. . . . Thanks and God bless you sir.
