- That is why we're encouraging this younger generation to embrace their roots and go back to our polygamous culture and traditions. Our society must allow European people to carry on their lifestyle in peace. 8 out of 10 homeless in Europe and the US are men kicked out of their own home and subsequently denied access to their children and properties.

-With more than one wife and many children, anyone that wants to leave can leave in peace and be replaced immediately. 1 wife and only 3 kids? Na waoh!

-Check-out the website called Fathers-4-Justice and see how e be for British men.

-African man must wake-up.

-RIP to Obinna.

pocohantas:
Marriage should be enjoyed, not endured.
Worse case you tolerate and make compromises.

Nigerians are on another thread crying about high divorce rates amongst Nigerians in the UK whereas many of them wouldn't marry someone like their fathers and mothers for even 2 years. But you somehow expect this shaku shaku generation that loves suicide to ENDURE?

The problem is not America or UK. The problem is the foundation of Nigerian marriages and our vengeful attitude as a people. You are the one divorcing the man, not the kids. Please, allow children access to the other parent.

All this talk of staying for "the kids" is unnecessary. He is dead now. The kids are alive. They will probably live longer than he did.

So, was it worth it?
May his soul rest in peace

-Those kids are most likely not yours. Without a DNA test result, you're just joking. And for God's sake; you are an Igbo man! Grow up and go get yourself a real wife who will support and be with you through thick and thin! Do you really believe you can go to a battle, let alone war, with such light-weight woman? Think again.

-This is an opportunity for you to take a break and reinvent yourself. Get another wife, who will support you. As an Igbo man, our culture, tradition and common law allows you to have as many wives as you want. Just don't marry another leech. And you don't need millions to marry a good wife.

-People like you are the sort of young men I like to support.

-But for now, keep your peace, and NEVER ruin your dignity and respect by migrating to that shithole called Lagos. Instead, get yourself a passport and work towards leaving that shithole of a country.

-Man you can do better than that thing you call a "wife", there are many fishes in the ocean.

Even in America, nothing is 50:50 unless both of you use joint bank accounts (Something I will strongly advise against doing). In all my years of living in the USA whenever a woman makes more than her husband trust me on this one aspect Nigeria women are still better as compared to American women. They still tend to respect their husband, but American women forget about it she rules.

- There is no Marriage, as we know it, in the West today. What they have is Partnership, and Africans migrating to these places should know that and act appropriately.

-As per bills, use a Spreadsheet. A joint acccount is a No-No if you earn more. But it is do-able if you earn same amount and contribute equally to ALL things - thanks to Microsoft Spreadsheet.

But no one holds a gun to their heads to cause them to choose these burdens for themselves. Why must the woman do anything when it is the men who continue to burden themselves in these ways? undecided

2. So, in order to avoid doing chores, marrying more than one wife is what makes sense? Wow... and earlier, and here I was thinking you wanted men to carry on themselves fewer burdens? undecided

-Women are not a burden to real men. Only the Simps are burdened by women.

-Sure, Polygamy makes more sense especially in today's world full of lazy postmodernist women.

-And yes, if women wants equal respect they must share the burden 50:50. Deal?

Even in Nigeria men share bills with their wives. The problem is they do that and still expect her to take on all the domestic responsibilities.

Sharing bills has never been their issue. Their main problem is the expectation that the women be okay with disrespect

-Few, not most, may share household bills in Nigeria, but not 50:50 as "equal partners" should. Most Nigerian women marry men above their socio-economic status and won't be able to share most of those bills anyway, and this leaves the men running against brick walls in order to keep the home going - a thankless job.

-Perhaps, men who wants to get into this monogamous relationships needs to marry only women within their socio-economic status not below. This can go along way to normalise their relationships...

-The African man is carrying too much of the burden to build a home, village, town and city for his community and people. These things weigh men down and affect their mental health too. So let's cut the men some slack, and also stop nudging them on to keep on ruining their physical and mental health for the good of others especially women. The African woman must step-up and carry some, if not half, of the burden in order to earn some respect.

- As par the household chores, thats why Polygamy is there... more hands gets things done sooner and better, otherwise "partners" should invest in some white-goods and live their Europhile lifestyle in peace.

Is it possible the way we socialize our men to view women might be the issue?

Are we going to be for real for once?

- I think so. Some African men were socialized to be Eurocentric and a lot of them are quite confused. To think they migrate to Europe and not realise they are now equal partners in their relationship still beats my imagination. I mean which average European man would pick-up most household bills, let alone pay thousands to sponsor a supposed "partner" to acquire higher education, get a better career or pay for family relocation all by himself? Not a lot. If any.

-Marriage in Europe, and indeed in the West, is basically a business partnership. It's high time, African men in the West realise this and act accordingly - share bills 50:50, so that when the business comes to an end everyone will jog-on amicably..

-Yes. I have.

-Without divulging too much information, in case she or her husband is a Nairalander, I met her in a town far away from her family home so I didn’t know she was a twin until she told me. However, I didn't meet her twin sister because she died at birth leaving her twin sister (my ex.) with a noticeable birth mark. Apparently, they were somehow attached in the womb. I will stop here out of respect for my ex. ( now a married woman).

-The only issue I had with her was she wasn't a virgin when we met, so I couldn't marry her which upset her very much. Sorry babe. X

I legit felt bad for you because that's a substantial sum of money to just lose like that and I know what it feels like when someone owes me even 10k and they want to play games.

PDJT said he mellowed and left the money due to wifey's intervention 🤣. You are a biggie na (big boy) too much money is worrying you. Dude never even gave you a reason, na wao. There's a prevalent assumption that women don't repay loans, but I have found that it is mostly men who do this.

All my female friends (including I) repay loans we take from each other but it is the male ones that give me headache and want to play me in circles. I have since figured out which ones to ignore and which ones have integrity.

-Well, am a small millionaire in terms of the worthless Naira, but am neither rich or a "big boy".

-As per lending; I guess women don't have any choice than to pay back what they borrowed from their fellow women. What else can they offer you in return. cheesy
-But when they borrow from a man, that's another story. My biggest borrower till date remains my first year University girlfriend. She can borrow for Africa but doesn't pay back, all her defence is that she was always "available" for me during those times, if you know what I mean. Some women, I guess, always tend to expect to pay loan back to men in kind. Maybe, you can ask your male borrowers to do the same... 🏃‍♂️ runz outta thread cheesy

1. You can equally help and support people while taking less risks yourself. There is nothing less helpful or less supporting, for example, about insisting the borrower signs a promissory note in addition to submitting post dated check as insurance. As a matter of fact, by ensuring risk on your end is reduced, you help keep the borrower responsible and discipline in his use and repayment of borrowed funds. undecided

When the lender is so relaxed about the risks of non payment, what incentive or reason exists for the borrower to put in the effort necessary to ensure payment of the loan? Na we dey feed all these bad culture by our own refusal to do better abeg! undecided

-Anyway, lessons learnt, I have since stopped being a "lender". What solidified my new approach was the last incident when I imported laptops for a friend in that line of business to sale in Lagos, but that one too failed. He atleast gave an excuse of having to sort out the health of one of his family members who was very ill at the time. Though that his family member eventually passed away unfortunately. But I have forgiven him, but not forgotten.

Seriously flawed indeed! Had you had that loan formally handled, you would have maybe gotten your money back and then some. And could have even helped grow your friendship too.. undecided

-We are quite informal in our setting. We help and support one another. The suggestion of formalising lending will not be exactly welcomed for some reasons.

-Anyway, I don't lend money anymore. I only dash what I can afford.

-I remember when I was in College and I asked my Finnish girlfriend to lend me £2k, she told me to approach my bank. Chai! The thing pain me, no be small; and still does. sad

This is bad! A little over 1.5 Million in 2015 wasn't a joke, even now it won't be child's play in spite of the naira not doing well.

What were his reasons or rather excuses for not paying back? Do you guys even talk now? These stories make me grateful for the quality of people I know who repay personal loans they take. Sorry o.

-Lol at "Sorry o." It's not your fault na. cheesy

-Anyway, the person in question and myself haven't spoken in years. I have since deleted his contacts. When the issue was fresh, I told family members I would go for the money when he least expects, but over the years I seem to have mellowed down a tad with some intervention from one of my wives.

-He never gave any reason for not paying, only keep promising he will pay the loan back.

-Nevertheless, lessons learnt. Never to be that stupid ever again.

-Needless to say, the relationship has since gone south even business deals he would have made some cool cash and acquired properties from also died with his attitude.

-The informality of our cultural interactions have some serious flaws and this is one of them.
