I have a question 🙏. Can someone change their course of study when reapplying for study visa after a denial? A friend just got denied, we re thinking of her applying to a different school and course with less tuition so she can pay the full tuition before the second application.

Also, which website is faster to get gcms.note . Thanks

8000 CAD and her duration of stay was 6 months. We already mentioned she will be staying in our home, so açcomodation was like free. So obviously 8k for 6 months was more than enough. There is a place they usually ask how much applicant has for the trip.
However our combined statement of account was about 20k CAD. But I have seen people who had 10k balance and their parent got it.
Please if you re applying for normal visiting visa for your parents, don't fill in 6 months as duration of stay biko. It was because this was a super visa that was why the 6 months duration of stay didn't pose issues.

Thanks everyone. I have PR and invited my parent. First application was July last year but.no update on it until Aril 2022. Normal Visiting Visa

New application: April 10 2022
New portal
Super Visa
Medicals passed.....April 25
Loooooooooong Silence.

Then there was ADR on her old application to be submitted by 8th of October
The ADR was one form Schedule 1 IMM5 something. I have forgotten.

Biometric validation letter and PPR....SEPT 29th.
PPR appeared on the new portal. BVL appeared on both new and old but the PPR she got was for Super Visa.
Documents submitted
Her passport
Medical insurance for 1 year...very compulsory for Super visa
POF was 100 percent from us, she is retired
Letter of invitation from my spouse and I stating we ll be responsible for her for her stay in Canada
Our Paystubs and Employment letter
Our Notice of Assessment for last year.
If you re PR and want to do super visa for your parent, ensure your family income meets the LICO for your family size plus the person you re inviting.

God will grant those still awaiting their PPR.

P.S : Is passport photograph no longer required when submitting passport. Biko, I remember we submitted passport photo or is it not needed for Visiting visa. Thanks a lot

Good morning my people, I am about to apply for visiting visa for one of my parents to come to Canada. Is their marriage certificate a document that we need to add?, my parents only did traditional marriage with no marriage certificate. Please, what's the way forward ?
Thank you all

1. No
2.No
3. Letter of introduction, your pay stub and statement. Also write a brief LOE, that you will be in charge of his expenses and accommodation.
4. Nope not needed. In fact you are always advised not to buy any ticket until your visa is approved. However, in his LOE, he can explain his itinerary.

The above was what we did for my mum and she got approved.

Also do we need to book for medicals now or we wait? I don't even know if they do medicals for visiting visa.

Good morning my people. Please I am in Canada as a PR and in the process of applying for visitor visa for my dad.

First, do we need to buy health insurance and submit as part of documentation. Someone told me he bought.

Secondly, will my dad need a police clearance certificate for visiting visa?

I will be sponsoring 100 percent. He won't be submitting his statement of account. What do I need to show that I will be responsible for his visit

Lastly, someone told me to book flight ticket and submit as part of the documentation. Is this necessary. That's why I came here to find out.

Biko, help me o
Thanks as I anticipate replies

Good evening all,
Please can one still do change of name after biometrics? Got married and application got updated to married and spouse added. Please, I am trying to change my last name to hubby's own and also change my passport to reflect the new name. Has anyone done this before? I am asking because I have already done biometrics with my maiden name.

Hi, I didn't write an English test. In the application form, I listed English as my first language. Again, the need for tests likely depends on your department. If in doubt, send them an email and tell them your first language and language of instruction at your Uni. Good luck and be sure to tell us when you gain admission!

Thanks for the clarification. Congrats once again.

Approved! Glory be to God!
I was going to wait until I pick up my passport from VFS before sharing my profile but I'll go ahead and share my testimony, anyway.

Going for MA (Thesis based) at UWO - Fall 2017

Background
BA (2011) Work experience in my field; self-employed since December 2016

Timeline

Online application 1st July (Upfront Medicals)
Biometrics 5th July
Review of Eligibility/Medicals Passed/Passport Request 17th August
Passport Submission 18th August (yet to be picked up)
Correspondence Letter/Document Status 24th August

Submitted:

All CIC documents

1 page SOP (short and straight to the point - Why I want to study in Canada, rationale behind my choice of school, my research interests, how I'm going to apply the knowledge gained to my career when I return to Nigeria and my source of funding)

Admission letter + email to me from the school, acknowledging receipt of original transcript (it was a condition of admission)

Funding Letter from School (Tuition)

1 page Letter of Funding from Parents (Living Expenses)

Parents' financial docs - bank statement, employment letter and payslips

Obstacles that I overcame

My full name (first name, initials and surname) on my birth certificate and admission letter is ABCD. However, on my passport and other documents, it is ACD. On the form where it asked if you've ever gone by any other name, I listed both versions of my name.

A bulk sum of money was transferred from my parents' former employers the day before I submitted. (The reason for my 'late' submission) To avoid suspicion of money lodgement, I included a letter from the employer to my parents informing them that it was their end of service package (the truth). My parents' SOP also addressed this transfer and its intended use towards my living expenses.

There is no doubt in my mind that doing upfront medicals saved me time. The day I went for my medicals coincided with the 1st day of my cycle and I was not allowed to give certain samples until more than a week later. Imagine if this had happened in August. Ladies, take note of this.

Home Tie - To be honest, this is something I don't fully understand. All I did was state in my SOP conclusion that I would be eager to return to my family after studies.

Travel history - I was denied a UK visa 6 years ago, which I stated. However I included my granted visas to an EU country (10 years ago) and an East African country (5 years ago)

So there you have it; I submitted what CIC specifically asked me to submit and provided explanation and additional documents where necessary. A few documents may have delayed me but I worked on other parts of my application during the interim. All in all, I thank God, because it is truly His doing. I also thank you Nairalanders for sharing your experience and resources with me. Wishing everyone the best of luck!

Congrats Poesy...
One quick question please, did you submit an English test result before applying to UWO? I can't find their exemption list. Thanks

I was going to say the same thing. My son and I have different blood groups. My nephew has same genotype as mine. Medicals is not DNA test so they can't figure out but it's better I say he's my nephew. I don't know if I'll have to adopt him to prove my responsibility and relation, that's my concern.

Poster, take my advice. Adopt this boy to prove your responsibility. Or if his father can write a letter or an affidavit or something for you (I don't know if this can work, lawyers in the house cn help out to advise in the easiest way forward ), I know the process may be tedious but do the needful to avoid stories that touch. Read my response to Emmane for a clearer understanding.

Yes, your so may not have same blood group as you but if a permutation of your own blood group and that of your hubby is done, your child's blood group should be one of the possible outcomes. The same thing for genotype.

All the best.
Travel / Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 12 by Peaceful004: 11:08am On Jul 19, 2017
Emmane:

Lol.... But this is funny. @Peaceful,004 does your bloodgroup and genotype match that of ur parents?
In a family of 4, it is very possible for all of then to hv different blood group. About genotype, it depends on family history of HbSs dx. Be guided.

Emmane, I didnt see your response early enough. You are indeed funny. Now listen, A child's blood group and genotype should correlate with that of the parents. For instance, if that poster and her hubby are both AA and the said nephew she wants to claim as hers turns out to be AS. How will they explain this. Another instance is if the poster and her hubby are blood group type A and O respectively. If this nephew is B. How do you explain this?

They don't request for medical test just for fun. Fine, they do not carry out DNA tests in the medicals for visa but simple things like what I highlighted up there can raise suspicions. Yes it is possible for a family of 4 to have different blood group but the truth is that the children's blood group should correlate with the parent's own at the end of the day. U can't tell me that a couple that are both A Nd O blood group will have a B child.

I didn't have enough time to type ds story yesterday in order to buttress my point . I know someone who got a visa lottery and has 2 kids but she wanted to take her little cousin along. When filling her visa lottery form, she already filled in her cousin's name using her hubby's surname for the boy as well. Luckily, she got the visa and left for the US with her hubby and her last child. After some years , she decided to take the 2 children she left behind. Do you know they refused that her cousin visa till date and they allowed her real child to go join the family. NOTE: Even her small cousin's passport and other documents were in her surname. Let us learn to do things right. If she had stated the truth from the beginning, they would have given the cousin visa as well.

So be guided as well.

Hi everyone,

I am new here and have read quite well on the thread. I have some questions which I have tried to find possible answers to through the thread but want to be 100% sure to avoid waste of money, energy and time for a study permit when I get an admission. I'll be very glad if the gurus in the house help me.
1. I had a my Bsc in Biochemistry in naija and did Msc in Pharmaceutical Science in the uk. I applied for a PhD in Biochemistry in University of Victoria after talking to potential supervisors. They actually didn't reply and as a result I didn't get admission for Sept, 2017. After writing many supervisors and many of them said they were fixed up. I was discouraged and decided to do another Msc. This time in a course that requires no supervisor. Currently waiting for an admission from the University of Manitoba, Department of Disability Studies. I want to know if there would not be an issue about me doing a second Msc and having the intentions of going for a PhD after completion.

2. When I was in the uk, I got married and had a child there and came back with my baby before my visa expired in June 2016. My husband was also a student, Nigerian, he got to the uk 2014 a year before I got there. His school had an issue and their licence was revoked. He didn't get a refund from the school but was asked to find another school and pay another tuition fee which he couldn't afford and uk home office asked him to leave after 60days in 2015. In the long run, he overstayed but left after we had the baby in May 2016. I had my graduation this year in the uk, my baby and I attended while my husband was in Nigeria. Is there any column that asks about overstaying in any country for Canada visitor visa?

3. I have a little nephew of 8 from my late sister. I want to adopt him as I'm presently responsible for him. He lives with my husband and I. His father absconded and his family hardly come to see the boy. The adoption process is quite tedious and someone suggested I claim him as my child since we have the same surname (still using my father's surname). His birth certificate can't be found, so I'm in the process of getting another one at the local government. Is that advisable?

4. We intended to apply as a family when I get my admission because I read from the Canadian immigration website that it is possible like the uk tier 4 family visa. But after reading from the posts here I found out that we might be rejected. Can he apply for a visitor visa before my study permit application and I'll apply with the kids?

5. My husband has a registered company, has a job and presently has over #2million in his personal account. A newly built house. Has traveled to South Africa and Uk. Had been denied visa to the US before going to the Uk. Has an aged mum. He wants to go for vacation, does he need an invitation or he can go ahead with it? What are his chances?

6. My maternity leave ended last Dec., from uk. I have a letter to that effect. Funny enough, my visa had expired, I left but was still on leave. I am presently self employed. Make dresses but not registered. Small scale. How do I show family ties if I'm to apply with my two kids? Can I use my husband, if he applies and get a visa?

7. Can I have two sponsors for my study permit, my father and a family friend? Will my husband need to sponsor the kids?

Please I know questions are many and lengthy but if the gurus can spare me time to answer, I'll forever be glad. Thank you everyone.

Answer to number 3 is a big NO
. Remember, you will all do medicals. What if your blood group and genotype doesn't match with him.
Just explain to them that you are responsible for him.

My supervisor was the one that asked me to put in for another master with the hope of transferring to phd in the second year so that it will boost my chances of getting scholarship. But I have informed him about the rejection, he promised to give me a letter to the vo, explaining why I was admitted for master and the intention of transferring to phd in2nd year.

Concerning gcms, I would have liked to request for it but the processing time is long and with that i wouldn't be able to make sept entry. And if i differ my admission to Jan, I wouldn't be able to do that for my scholarship and the truth is that without the financial support, I wouldn't be able to finance my study.

Pls reply. thanks

Wao, I understand you fully now. Maybe the letter to the VO by your supervisor will help. God will work it out for you.

I think the VO may be wondering why you are going for another Masters program. I think you should explain to your supervisor that it may not be easy for you to get a TRV if you are applying for another masters. Try and convince him so that you can apply for PhD probably for next term. While at it, order for your gcms note as well. All the best.

I think its only during Express Entry applications they contact employers. I don't think they do for study permit. I feel they may contact though if your employer is your sponsor.

Thanks. The program fee is 5118 CAD and the sponsors statement of account reads 4 million plus with inflow of 11 million inflow and 7 million out flow over the last 6 months (business account). Sponsor is a relative and he pledge for my living cost (2.8 million) because my funding covered my tuition even with "change". I submitted all necessary docs and even my supervisor sent a letter to the embassy on my behalf stating his present project and how my research work will add to that.

It is well Bro/Sis, i ll advise you order for GCMS note. But while at it, try preparing to apply again. But, you ll really need the GCMS note to know the exact reason for the delay.
