Why do you people take malicious delight in bad news - ever ready to believe the worst of other people. Obviously you have a biased mind, and your sense of judgement is questionable. I fear you o!
Politics / Re: Jonathan Appoints Dalhatu Tafida As Campaign Director by peteobi: 9:26pm On Aug 25, 2010
Everybody seems to be focusing on GEJ and IBB as if it is a two horse race. Seasoned political observers have consistently been saying that their is a fourth formidable factor, which many people are overlooking. If the governors decide to push forward a single candidate, they will be formidable rivals to anybody GEJ, or IBB. If this is the case, the 2011 elections will truly be interesting. In fact, there should be no consensus candidate anywhere - let the aspirants battle it out.
Politics / Re: THE 2011 PRESIDENTIAL POLL, MAKE YOUR VOTING HERE. by peteobi: 9:13pm On Aug 25, 2010
The options provided on this tread do not take into consideration the full political reality. Regardless of anyone's feelings it is impossible to ignore what is now being referred to as the "fourth force" - this is a coalition of younger political leaders (governors) from the north. If they succeed in persuading their colleagues to back a single candidate they will be formidable - make no mistake about it. You could then see the emergence of Bukola Saraki or Danjuma Goje as presidential aspirants. Neither the incumbent (Goodluck Jonathan) or the old war horses (Atiku, IBB, Buhari) can thumb their noses at this group.
Politics / Court Dismisses Suit Against Mu'azu Aliyu And Bukola Saraki by peteobi: 10:51am On Jun 19, 2010
The length of time that the judicial system takes to resolve election disputes in Nigeria is a major problem in our electoral system. This is one area that will definitely have to be looked into before the 2011 elections. Several cases arising from the conduct of the 2007 general elections are just being decided. Only yesterday (Tuesday, June 17th, 2011) did appeal courts decide cases brought against Dr. Mua'zu Babangida Aliyu and Dr. Bukola Saraki.

The Abuja Court of Appeal refused to grant the request by David Umaru of the ANPP to quash the election of Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu as governor of Niger State, and the Appeal Court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara state dismissed a suit filed by Oyinkansola Saraki of the Peoples Progressive Alliance (PPA) against the election of DR. Bukola Saraki as the governor of Kwara State in the April 2007 general elections.

David Umaru and the ANPP had said that Governor Aliyu did not resign or retire from the federal public service as demanded by law as at April 2007 when he contested the gubernatorial election, but in a unanimous ruling delivered by Justice Mary Peter Odili, the appeal court held that the petition against the governor was worthless, having been filed outside the mandatory 30 days stipulated by law.

Ruling on the petition brought by OYINKANSOLA SARAKI, the candidate of the Peoples’ Progressive Alliance (PPA) against the election of DR. BUKOLA SARAKI, as Governor of Kwara State, Justice N.S. Ngwuta, who led five others in an unanimous judgement read by Justice M.A. Owoade, dismissed the petition as lacking in merit.

But really, should it take 3 years for rulings on a sensitive subject such as election petitions to be delivered. Something should really be done about this before 2011.
Politics / Re: Between Saraki And Jonathan: Is Goodluck Jonathan An Accident Waiting To Happen by peteobi: 3:19pm On Jun 15, 2010
When Goodluck Jonathan became accident president, sorry acting president, and then president I was frankly alarmed. My initial feeling was that his role in history would be that of midwifing a free and fair election. Forget NEPA, forget corruption. That he now fancies himself presidential material frankly takes me aback. He is unprepared for the role psychologically, temperamentally, or actually. I am still challenged to find a list of accomplishments clearly attributable to him, and I strongly doubt his intentions are selfless.

a lot of the urban type projects were actually concieved by the ousted lawal - the were already on paper when bukola came in

calling the zimbabwe project the flagship says i all - that project is a failure
The Zimbabwe project is a project that was necessary. There are so many roundtables on food security in the country, and people pay so much lip service to the need to address it. No one has done more than Bukola Saraki to address this issue. If you ask the people of Shonga, the economic benefits of the project, and the improvement it has brought to their lives in terms of health, communication, transportation, employment and agricultural know-how is undeniable. They would not call the project a failure.

The project is the necessary venture into the realities of commercial agriculture in the country. If there is one thing that we have learned, the stumbling block are the banks, ports and custom authorities. Banks don't know the meaning of long-term investment, ports don't know the meaning of clearing goods on time, customs will give 6-month visas to people who have a 25-year lease.

As with all transformational leaders, Dr. Bukola Saraki leads people where they need to go, not where they want to go. It is wrong to describe an effort, which has no option as failed - it is necessary, and it must be done. Shikena.
Politics / Re: Dr. Bukola Saraki Urges Youths To Participate In Politics by peteobi: 8:51pm On Jun 03, 2010
Whatever anybody says Dr. Bukola Saraki has made a point. It is important for us young people to get involved in the political process. Personally I would rather go with Saraki who urges youth participation in politics than an IBB who thinks there is no young man who is capablr of ruling Nigeria - largely due to the existence of people like him who have no wish to leave power even when they have lost relevance.
