Goddex: The FG is constructing many more roads in Abuja than what Lagos state is doing but we don't get to hear this much propaganda. Lagos need pipeborne water like most other cities and not these noisemaking when a 2KM road is asphalted. Fashola has really tried with water supply in Lagos. From Agege to Ebutte metta to Mile 2 to even Ajangbadi. Festac which is a Federal estate hasd theirs privatised costing 400 naira for 1000 litres. Various water-works all around Lagos, you just have to give it to Fashola even though he has got his imperfections too 1 Like |

Nelson Mandela is dead, and now the world finally gets a chance to experience the greatness that comes with the spirit and person of the man. I think that until the death of a great man or woman, his/her greatness is diminished by the size and limits of his/her physical space. As long as we continue to see greatness embodied, we’d continue to see its limitations. Once death takes the body, the true greatness finally gets unleashed and in certain cases it takes on a mythical strength. In Nelson Mandela’s case, his greatness in death has been expressed by men, women, children and people from all races. For once the world was united in celebrating a man who seemed to be a mirror that helped to show each of us how we could be better. He was certainly not a perfect man, and most people will not get a chance to come out of prison alive and sane after 27 years, but Mandela not only did, but it appeared that prison helped him become the Mandela that gained the world’s admiration. He is the answer to the question: Can anything good thing come out of Africa? Yes, Madiba is of Africa and what a man he was. As Africans, we could easily transform this beautiful continent by just looking at Nelson Mandela and his values and using the same as the standard for ourselves. What if we all adopted a “What Would Mandela Do?” approach to everything? This would be especially necessary for those who are privileged to be leaders amongst us. We cannot continue to do things as we please without style, character or direction. We have a choice as a people to use Mandela as that example of how to lead and how to practice the politics of fairness and sportsmanship. If we all, like the great man, accepted that in the end leadership is about service and service is about the people, we’d make better choices. Nelson Mandela has come and gone. His memory and greatness will be here for as long as we have the earth. It would not be enough to share his best quotations and wax lyrical about how great he was. That is good but that would not be good enough one month, one year, one decade and many score years from now. We need to learn from Mandela’s examples and choices. We need to imbibe his strength and learn even from his own mistakes. None of us will ever be a Mandela, but the world Mandela left behind, both on the continent and in South Africa, is a world that remains troubled by problems that would be dispensed with if men and women cared enough about others. Mandela left a world that cries for true and genuine leadership. There is so much to do and so much space to fill as Africa cries out for exemplary leadership. This is what we must live by as we remember Mandela: What Would Mandela Do? Then make the best decision you can based on your own unique circumstances. RIP Nelson Mandela 1918 - 2013 http://metropole.ng/index.php/component/k2/item/372-what-would-mandela-do |

I was a teacher for 17 months, teachers aren't well paid that much (except few private schools and government schools), most complement their pay with extra (private) lessons. I enjoyed it though, I discovered my love for children |
![]() |
In Lagos, as well as some other states education is free up to secondary level but some people aren't just interested in the long term gain of children education, they prefer the short term gain of their children begging, hawking or even helping them with their businesses e.g. "mama put" and co. 2 Likes |

SO they heard what Fashola said about the hawkers some months ago....good one 1 Like |

I had numbness in right hand three months ago and thought it was lack of blood till last month when I realised it was blood clot, , cholesterol level had already risen to 207 by the time I checked. Been on blood thinner for four weeks with plenty fruits and esercise. Never ignore body signals, burning feet and itching disturbs my sleep every night. It is not funny at all |

Abacha died, Abiola had to die. Babangida didn't annul the election so as to remain in power, else it won't have been conducted in the first place, both are very good friends and are alleged to have been involved in shady deals in the past( remember Fela's international thief thief ITT?) Some people didn't want Abiola to become presedent because he had sponsored previous coups and some other reasons we still haven't been told. Getting Abiola out of the way was to balance the equation and start over again. That's why the two candidates of 199 election were yorubas 1 Like |

anonimi: Talking about building infrastructures, Nigerians have been providing their own power through generators and inverters. Feeder roads might be an issue in some areas but majority of schools have been upgraded with new ones built, especially secondary, even my alma mater FGS has gotten a new building after been neglected since the 80s. Vocational and technical schools aren't doing bad, and more skill acquisition centers have been built. As for water, there r various water works around Lagos even in places like Ajangbadi. Festac where I am has even had the moribund water-works rehabilitated and privatised. The current administration might not have done all but have done majority and can only do more. @OP sorry for derailing, just had to correct the pieces of misinformation by anonimi. What is the overall cost? So that those who plan to build in future will have an idea, thanks. 2 Likes |

andyanders: Election is coming and they want to use their con deceit tactics to buy ignorant Nigerians. We are too intelligent to be deceived by these fraudulent politicians. The said kerosene sells for N135 and now they want to declare that it should be sold for N50. Let the foolish man go and sleep or his plane to crash. 5columnist: Another good one from President Jonathan Mr Aboki: Isnt thin another subsidy scam?!There has always been subsidy on kerosene but the end users have never enjoyed it. They are scared the petroleum minister will be exposed just the way the aviation minister was. Let us see how long it lasts 1 Like |

DerideGull:Yorubas will remain Nigeria but will still survive if Nigeria unavoidably breaks. But I bet you those sponsoring you are only doing so to cause distraction from their looting ways, they will never support the division of Nigeria because they are united in looting. Obasanjo, Bode George, Anenih, Alams, Atiku, Tukur, Orji Kalu etc. |

geeez: Yoruba leaders against all odds have been vocal against corruption and corrupt people whether or not they are their kinsmen Even Obasanjo, their fellow tribesman was lashed when he erred. Now anyone that opposes GEJ is said to be doing so because he's from a minority tribe, I weep for what our children will inherit at this rate we're going |

All around the world president get insulted, even obsanjo from 1999-2007 was insulted even by his fellow yorubas but most of you weren't on nairaland yet. Yaradua got his dose of inslts ( being called a snail and all that). GEJ promised heaven and heaven during his campaigns and this got him massive votes but the people get below what they expect, would you blame the people for that? If the president does well, just the way he got massive votes in 2011, he will also get massive praises. dami212: then we don't need rules in the forum. Don't make laws u cannot implement. Let the forum be like Thomas Hobbes state of nature. Just because Libyans did something(wrong) does not mean we will follow suite. I guess u will tell ur kids or siblings to copy d wrong thing because a Libyan has done it |

They have raised some issues which you ignored, The FG will always be right in your eyes Sincere 9gerian: After keeping us in darkness for decades, does it now matter if they keep us in darkness for a few days more? No threat of strike should stall the planned handover of the PHCN companies. If we allow these labour union leaders they'll stall the whole process with their endless demands. |

Which arm of gorvernmenr federal or state? Last time I checked even ordinary Primary Health Centers are well equipped. Tell us the whack government hospital you've seen. Ibanga p: Good, but u'll find out that these hospitals that are being shut down are private owned hospitals, and truth be told; how well-standard are the government owned hospitals?
