youghs:Please let us not over exaggerate . What PROFORCE needs right now is a cash infusion to expand their factory for that to happen they would need to acquire a guaranteed order of 100 MRAPS. As it is right now PROFORCE is probably producing at MAX CAPACITY to fufil contractual orders from CHAD and other CUSTOMERS they may not be able to take on multiple orders at the same time with limited skilled staff , and space . The money would be a great help , however PROFORCE next step is to get multi- year guaranteed orders this is called financial confidence that most defence companies need in order to invest more funds . 5 Likes |

LTGEN: Thank you joor........ I keep saying it...Proforce and even DICON are manufacturing according to demand. If they get bankable guaranteed orders, they will expand capacity to meet the orders even if the orders come with a deadline... as long as its backed by money, they'll expand capacity to meet it. That excuse of importation which is that Proforce and DICON can't meet demand isn't convincing enough. 3 Likes |

Buhari Appeals To US Over Insecurity , Wants AFRICOM In Nigeria The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Tuesday stressed the need for the support of the United States and other “important and strategic partners” in combating the security challenges facing Nigeria. He said the support was necessary because the consequences of insecurity in Nigeria would affect all nations. According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, the President made the call during a virtual meeting with the US Secretary of State, Mr Anthony Blinken. The statement was titled, ‘Security: President Buhari asks US to relocate headquarters of AFRICOM to Africa, warns of likely spill over.” Apart from seeking the assistance of the US, according to the Presidency’s statement, Buhari also called on the US to consider relocating US Africa Command from Stuttgart, Germany, to Africa, nearer the Theatre of Operation. Buhari said, “The security challenges in Nigeria remain of great concern to us and impacted more negatively by existing complex negative pressures in the Sahel, Central and West Africa, as well as the Lake Chad Region. “Compounded as the situation remains, Nigeria and her security forces remain resolutely committed to containing them and addressing their root causes. “The support of important and strategic partners like United States cannot be overstated as the consequences of insecurity will affect all nations hence the imperative for concerted cooperation and collaboration of all nations to overcome these challenges. “In this connection, and considering the growing security challenges in West and Central Africa, Gulf of Guinea, Lake Chad region and the Sahel, weighing heavily on Africa, it underscores the need for the United States to consider re-locating AFRICOM headquarters from Stuttgart, Germany, to Africa and near the Theatre of Operation.” The statement also quoted the Secretary of State as saying that he was pleased to make Nigeria part of his “first virtual visit to Africa.” He added that he would be delighted to build on the foundation that was laid between the two countries over 60 years ago, disclosing that areas of discussion with Nigeria would include “how to build our economies back after the COVID-19 pandemic, security for vulnerable communities, and climate issues.” Copyright PUNCH. |

Donian007: We all know this is not true; the US knows it, Aso Rock knows it, and the African continent knows it. Calls made by the Biden Administration to world leaders are catalogued on the various administration websites for all the world to see. Hell, Kenya, DR Congo (admittedly because DRC is current AU president) got calls. From Biden, Secretary Blinken, NSA Sullivan etc. 1 Like |

Space entrepreneur Max Polyakov acquires South Africa’s Dragonfly satellite maker Max Polyakov, an ultra-wealthy entrepreneur with ambitions of building a space transportation empire, has acquired South African satellite maker Dragonfly Aerospace, he told Reuters. The deal gives Polyakov an anchorpoint in the booming but fiercely competitive market for small-satellite technology, and a potential revenue source for rocket maker Firefly Aerospace, which is majority-owned by Polyakov’s Noosphere Ventures investment. The acquisition comes amid a frenzy of capital infusions and blank-check deal-making around a new breed of firms building miniaturized launch systems to cash in on the exponential growth of compact satellites needing a ride to orbit in the coming years. Among them, Polyakov’s Dragonfly aims to build up to 48 satellites per year for commercial and civil space customers. For example, Dragonfly develops satellite cameras for Earth Observing Systems Data Analytics, which is owned by Polyakov’s Menlo Park, California-based Noosphere Ventures. https://www.defenceweb.co.za/aerospace/civil-aviation/space-entrepreneur-max-polyakov-acquires-south-africas-dragonfly-satellite-maker/ 2 Likes
