Children don't understand the things of adulthood, so I can't blame or fault you as a child that you are with your kind of reasoning.

Oga ADULT! We have sighted you!!

Adult that can't answer a simple question based on his own wack logic is simply a stúpid adult.

This is really dicey,i can’t help but shower u with prayers for been there for him for 12 years, even seeing your dad u have known in his hey days in such condition is depressing, however I think u need to talk to your mom not to lose hope too, taking care of a sick patient grudgingly looking dejected kills faster than the sickness itself, you guys have to look happy whenever u are around him and keep assuring him things will be fine, and keep taking care of him dutifully.

I understand you might have been through a lot financially and with the decaying healthcare system in Nigeria and nonchalant medics I can only pray for grace for u.

Physiotherapy is the best solution for now and u can speed up the healing with hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) as someone suggested, all this could be expensive so why not give traditional therapy a try too and see it if works, even if u have to take him to a herbalist do it because in the end all that matters is staying alive,I’m not into organized religion but don’t forget to pray for him to whomever u believe in too.

If he could have his way I’m sure he could as well have suggested euthanasia himself with his condition however ethically the decision has to come from him alone and not you tho I’m not opposed to it to put him out of his misery.

However the question is can u yourself survive the consequences of having to euthanize him yourself, this could as well cause psychological problems for u in the future,it could make u suicidal,or psychopathic, you would never trust anyone again,or perhaps a panic freak, think about your mental health, can u handle it?take care of him the best way you can, never say never and let God do his thing whether for the better or worse.

This is just my opinion tho

May God fortify your strength and wishing him quick recovery.

Persistent vegetative state? No one wants to live like this... Euthanasia is an option! An option you should have taken long time ago if he was diagnosed with PVS. Check out the Terri Schiavo case in the US. Your father would not want to live like that if he had a choice. sodium thiopental, phenobarbital, potassium chloride injection with Anaesthesia, all at the right doses given by a physician with give him a painless death and your father would be grateful you did.

Ogbeni look for a way to do it yourself already.
Majority of the advisers here are advising as outsiders, you know where the shoe pinches.
Forget sentiments and all these baseless religious fallacies that people are puting up. It is the right thing to do and move on with your life.
If I were you I won't even ask anyone's help, I would've done it unaided long ago,, you really have time oo.

For y'all quoting me, even if euthanizing human is illegal, lord knows I would have arranged with my family and our doctor to end that person suffering.
Why would you say this, since u are sure it's legal? Ode

I passed thru this for about 2years before he left.. I'm yet to recover from the damages, but I tell you ...I feel very happy & fulfilled in life like I'v completed my mission here

The fact that I stood by him gives me joy & have motivated me in taking up other challenges

What hurts me most till now is how some people never realized how I'd been "crippled" by his condition

Nigerians are not open to this kind of reasoning. We're too spiritual.

It's not legal in Nigeria sha. If he agrees to itz you can move him to a jurisdiction where it's legal and do it.

But he can cope with partial stroke for some time. I suggest getting him a caretaker.
Re: Should I Euthanize My Dad? by Kelvinhunta: 5:08am On Oct 06, 2021
U r not ending his suffering, you are ending ur suffering of taking care of him and to me that's being selfish! He would have intentionally stopped breathing if he had chosen to end it but no he is patiently hoping to survive one day, hoping that heavens will smile on him and heal him soon

Clearly your father has become a vegetable, he is completely useless and will never recover, rather than wasting all that money, pains and heartaches on him use the money and energy to care for your mother and children, just leave him with no food or water for about a week and he will be out of his misery.

It would be a waste of time, energy and money trying to revive him as i said, he is a vegetable. He will never recover.

You do know starvation is a horrible death right?

Did you just ask for advice to kill your father?? Young man, hire a personal maid for him alone. Not the type that will be engaging in other house chores. A maid that will only be responsible to cater for him and him alone.

You can find a maid whose costs would be cheap maybe from the village or so. She will live with your parents and take care of to ur dad.

Also, continue praying for him.

It has been 12years now since my dad has been down with Stroke which has affected his speech, his right hand and leg and some 4years ago,he couldn't walk anymore but had to be carried to sleep, sit and all physical metabolism is done where he is,even after I and my mum have spent and still spends a lot on physiotherapy, speech therapy, brain checkups at Mecure oshodi, routine and forthnight high blood pressure checkups with expensive drugs and still no changes but it gets worse, all done going around in taxi as I have no car.....

I was 18 and in 200level in a federal uni with him and my mum my only support system when all of this started, couldn't concentrate and focus on school work anymore as I am the firstborn of a 7 boys family and my attention was always needed.....Mum told me I need to drop out that she can't afford all of this alone but I was strong hearted and determined to graduate with a B.Eng...

I had issues with my lecturers as my attendance were poor and my course adviser said it to my face that I would never graduate but I never told them about my travails or they wouldn't even believe me anyways cos they were mostly SADIST,All Engineering lecturers in Uniben especially Mechanical/PRODUCTION ENGINEERING from 08/09 upward,OGUN KILL ALL OF UNA!!! Life was tough for me and my Mum....

Now that I am a Man and supposed to be focus on my life future and raising a family but this is still taking a toll on me emotionally, financially, mentally and I will come home to my mum nagging, crying that she has tried enough over the years and i might come home one day and she has left ....THIS BREAKS ME,I AM TIRED,I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO....I LOVE MY DAD,HE IS IN PAINS TOO!!!

IF I COULD SEE THE FUTURE BACK THEN WHEN IT STARTED,I WOULD HAVE ASKED THE DOCTORS FOR MERCY DEATH,DO NIGERIAN DOCTORS OR HOSPITALS GIVE OUT MERCY DEATH TO PATIENTS?

Have you tried traditional approach? Herbs and all? Bro people do recover from stroke, and lead a normal life afterwards. I don't understand what you have gone through but I can relate to a certain extent. Ask questions and by his mercies you will seek answers in our roots. Meet your elders bro
Re: Should I Euthanize My Dad? by nokspos: 6:20am On Oct 06, 2021
you need bigger money to treat him, like flying him abroad and that can only happen if you focus on yourself, then in few years you can achieve it, but don't kill any body, just spend less on his treatment and more on yourself. make sure he's clear from malarial, typhoid and all those small come sickness that are cheaper to manage, if God wants him , he will keep him alive. you can get a personal nanny for him , like 10 - 15k monthly so that your mom can rest too or she can even move out and visit every weekend so that she can have good mental health and face her own life too.. when you guys make bigger money and can afford to fly him out that's when you can really treat his sickness and if God still have purpose for him in life, he would preserve him till you have your break through. For now just find a way you can budget like 30k for him monthly.

come, if you can't relate with his issue it's better you don't give any useless advice. Most of you guys always advice someone without first feeling empathy. You must not contribute to a matter ESPECIALLY when you have not experienced or having any understanding about it.
