nazicartel: Lagos should be made to stand on her own , That state is a very busy and beautiful state. They should be paying minor stuffs to the central govt and use the rest for it's development. Lagos is nothing without the rest of Nigeria! It is the activity from the rest of Nigeria that makes Lagos what it is and not the other way round!! Bulk of the so-called IGR comes from PAYE. Now federal government has almost all its parastertels and agencies in Lagos and Abuja, so you now know why they are earning the most. 3 Likes |

DOTian:
Tinubu boy, If you go to other developing countries like China, Indonesia, Malaysia or Thailand, revenues earned from more affluent states/provinces are used to help poorer regions/provinces get on their feet. The Chinese government invested heavily in building up the infastructure of such provinces as Shanghai, Guangdong, shangdong, Zhejiang etc. Theses are mostly coastal provinces. Most physical tradings happen here but most of the products sold in these places are fabricated in the hinterland provinces. This way, the coastal provinces are helping to pay back for the "lopsided" investments in their infastructure by becoming the marketers of the products of the other provinces thereby helping to redistribute wealth. But in Nigeria it's different! Lagos drags everything with everyone after so many decades of federal government ceaseless investments! That's is pure Evil and must stop! Yes you are correct don't mind them 2 Likes |

Why did you think states like Lagos, Rivers, Ogun, etc want to stop the remittance of VAT to the Federal Government? |

Lagos is still a shithole even with all these IGR. Nothing has changed. Where exactly is this money going? most of it goes to the Federal government, which then redistribute the wealth so that states with weaker economies can survive, at least. Lagos State will generate 400bn and remit to government, only to receive 200bn back. And people will still be shouting. It's not fair on Lagos. Plus, there's no state that's not inherently corrupt. It's just that some states government don't even have money to steal to start with. They can't afford to. |

Teewhy2: everything in lagos is about revenue generation, they don't really care about welfare. Lastma and VIO just want to catch people to meet up their personal and organization profit, when what they should do more is about correction. People approving houses also are interested in how much they can make from you, start a small fence, they have marked X but if you give them money, they don't care if the building specification meets standard. How do you correct a Lagos driver without fine? |
