seguno2: Since you are bereft of the intellectual competence to see beyond the beautifully crafted falsehood created by that deceitful buffoon I will help you. 1) Lagos was the federal capital till 1991 when it moved to Abuja. Between then and now all federal investment has been in Abuja not Lagos. 2) By 1999 at the return to democratic Govt Lagos was aptly described as an urban jungle. It was earning a partly #600m annually 3) The tax revolution of Tinubu brought it from #600m then to #600bn today annually 4) From 99 Till 2015, Lagos was in opposition to FG PDP so no capital investment was sighted there above other states. Can you then say that FG investment made Lagos? Why was it an urban jungle 8yrs after being the capital and all of a sudden became Africa's 5th largest economy? I will answer it for you. While Orji Uzor Kalu,Ibori,Nnamani and udenwa were busy eating up their state resources Tinubu was busy changing the civil service and tinkering with the tax nomenclature. Most of the access roads in Lagos was built by him. He drew a 50yr master plan for Lagos which is being followed till date. Let me ask you WHAT MASTER PLAN DID KALU DRAW FOR ABIA OR IBORI FOR DELTA? Yet the dullard is insinuating that Lagos development is a product of FG investment when OBJ went all out to retard Lagos progress. Do you know that Lagos was already generating a power to light up Lagos for 24hrs? OBJ diverted it to the national grid to be shared among every state while Lagos paid for it. Hate Tinubu all you want but know that if your then Governors had 10% of his vision, you won't all be tripping to Lagos to make meaningful living. That guy you quoted is extremely dumb 9 Likes 1 Share |

Nigerialabalaba:Please stop this nonsense you re disgracing the yorubas. How can you say the Igbos burned down Lagos? Were they the Yoruba youths that went to you Oba palace and ransaked it? If truly the Igbos did...doesn't it mean the yorubas are stupid for letting the Igbos control them and Igbos are their Lord and masters ? For one igbo man to control Yoruba youths to burn down Lagos means Yoruba youths are useless. |

RodgersAkpafu:The federal presence was there for federal interest not local interest First make a distinction between Lagos City and Lagos State When the FG left Lagos State in 1991 what condition did they leave it? The Federal Secretariat The National Stadium etc There were many slums and rural communities with no electricity In 1985 in Lagos State there were still Night Soil men carrying faeces in buckets This Federal presence" effectively means MONEY In the history of Nigeria Lagos has ALWAYS been a net contributor https://www.nairaland.com/4144976/lagos-1898before-nigeria-not-oil Lagos has always contributed more than it received Why has federal presence not had the same impact in Abuja? Abuja was purpose built from scratch with funds in an unprecedented way Lagos state has prospered only when the so called federal presence was removed and it began to be governed by people who were born and bred there. |

Kinematics:Did I make Lagos Capital? Take like an adult that is not starved of oxygen. The colonialists made that decision Why not ask them to come and recolonize you? Lagos Port was making more money before independence than some states do today https://www.nairaland.com/4144976/lagos-1898before-nigeria-not-oil#61876649 Lagos is blessed with a great coast and accessibility which Rivers state does not have At least the colonialist did not think so . Your comment is like an ugly women complaining that the rich men only toast beautiful women. How is that the beautiful woman's business If Rivers state was that blessed , that glorious a tiny part would have been made capital But it was not even capital of the old Eastern region |

hmohammed:We're saying the same thing. You can't collect money from the socalled SS/oil producing communities and then give them about 13 percent or so and be accusing them of being solvent and incapable of standing on their own! When in actual facts, the money you are sharing around is their money stolen by force, with just a little given to them.. They're the ones that are supposed to tell you off. Because it's their money and if they don't share with you, they will be Dubai and Doha and Kuwait with their resources.. 2 Likes 1 Share |

OmoEpe: How is the IGR amount make the state an urban jungle? If it did, why is Lagos still one of the worst global cities continuously Is that because Tinubu steals all the money instead of using it to keep Lagos clean and clear, children educated, roads tarred in the remote areas, healthcare facilities for everyone etc |

aribisala0: LNG is a PPP stuff mainly SPDC not FG If FG truly cares about the Ports in PH they'll make it as viable as the crude loading points in Rivers, You mean dead refinery? Afam Power Station belongs to Transcorp. They own Afam power station not FG. I can see you don't even have a clue on what you are writing. You are asking what investments FG got in Lagos? I can see you are a neophyte. Go and look at Nigeria's budget since 1960 till date and tell me which state gets the highest investment by the FG. |

Kinematics:We are not here to talk about rivers state If you want to do that then create a thread for that I no not know what you mean by PPP stuff I am sure you read that in a newspaper and have no clue what it means. Does that mean the government does not contribute or does not invest? That is nonsense. The FG is a major shareholder in LNG and LNG has been building roads and bridges in Rivers state and getting tax credits for that .Not in Lagos state You said the refinery is "DEAD" Are there no "DEAD" FG investments or projects in Lagos? What happened to the Federal Secretariat, National Stadium, National theatre? Even the roads out of Tin Can and Apapa Is Onne Port dead Is LNG dead? Are those not FG investments What is Adam power station? You are contradicting yourself Did Transcorp BUILD Afam power station? No. They bought it from the FG Afam power station was a federal government investment that has been expanded over several phases with SPDC money as well as FG money and so it is a FG investment Here you are saying I do not know what I am saying when you are TOTALLY clueless. SPDC operates a Joint venture with the NNPC for every 40 kobo spent by Shell NNPC spent 60 kobo That was the arrangement in the 80s and 90s when Afam was commisioned The FG is within its rights to sell its investments and has done so in Lagos State too . Dangote has benefitted from sale of Port assets so there is nothing new there Once again we are not here to discuss rivers state 3 Likes 1 Share |
