Hehehe. Are you serious? 2nd round exit to a depleted and average team like Tunisia is tolerable?FYI, I am a huge fan of Rohr but let's call a spade a spade.

Drew with Sierra Leone and still qualified for AFCON - target met...
Egbon lost to Madagascar in group stages and still went all the way to semis and won golden bronze - target met....
He lost to CAR and still qualified for next round of World Cup qualifiers - on target..

And yes, I supported the sacking of Rohr but didn’t support who replaced him. His replacement is a poor coach...

Why are you still arguing with these people?

It's obvious they have a strong bias for local coaches(competent or incompetent) and will support them in whatever they do. They are guilty of the very same thing they accuse other people of. If it was Rohr who lost against that depleted Tunisian side, would they have made the same excuse they're currently making for Eguavoen?
Tunisia is a top team all of a sudden. The same Tunisia we beat at the last AFCON and it was their first eleven.

I hated Rohr's tactics. I totally despised them, so much so I stopped watching a lot of our matches but the man gave us results when they mattered the most. Results are the most important thing in cup competitions.

This is why I wanted him sacked AFTER the AFCON and not before, especially if he didn't win it. That way we would have a much better excuse to get rid of him.

This is why we won't take you serious. You hated Rohr's tactics and stopped watching matches because you want ONLY results. See you're just a LiveScore fan?

If na only results you wan de see, go de do virtual.

Give Eguavoen time! Even the devil will tell the truth that he exceeded expectations at Afcon. After such shoddy preparations we expected shambolic football but if I search a few minutes I'd likely see your post praising him in the group stages.

We only just submitted our technical report of the AFCON. In fact it is the reason why I have travelled from Lagos to see the Minister...Eguavoen.

I guess the Sports Minister is running the show. That means, there is a high chance the news of Amunike is true, since the Sports Minister is fan of Amunike.

Well still rumors..no credible site/NFF handle has released d news of amunike joining d crew or eguavoen been d substantive coach cool

Lol .. LiveScore fans..Then plenty everywhere.. Anybody that wants to label Eguavon a failure is doing so out of painment and not reality..

The main reason I'm supporting him to continue is because I saw a lot of improvement in the team under him.. Individually, some players like Simon, Ekong and Ndidi put in the kind of performance we have always wanted from them, while Aina and Aribo were given more freedom to roam. As a team, we pressed more, attacked better, retained possession better and moved the ball around better.. Even Eguavon's hardcore critics can't deny the facts on ground... One moment of bad luck doesn't mean there won't be better ones ahead.

I remember when Klopp took over from Rodgers in the middle of the season.. Our performance greatly improved with the same corp of players Rodgers was playing rubbish with..That same season we reached two cup finals but were unlucky to lose both. It didn't stop most of the fans from believing in Klopp..We know what happened afterward..

Eguavon is no Klopp, and I'm not saying we should give him 5 years like Rohr.. But looking at how good he made the team look despite having a short period of time and unavailable key players to prepare, I'd say he has earned the rights to another chance!

Hypocrisy...
You predicted doom for Eguavon even before the tournament started, and then changed gear when you saw how good the team was .. Now you are back to your reality... Hypocrisy!
You are too petty to admit that your fine boy Maduka contributed more to our failure at the AFCON than Eguavon or Nwakali whom you have sworn to always hate...

Funny thing is you thinking you wrote something profound and intelligent but you couldn't even see past your own hypocrisy. It's even more hilarious that you thought you could actually insult me by calling me something I'm not. Did you feel good about yourself before clicking that 'submit' button? I'm sure you did cheesy

That's by the way

You keep talking about 'we' 'we' 'we'. Who is this 'we' you're talking about?
You said 'this is why we won't take you serious'. I wonder when this beloved thread turned into a cult that whoever disagrees with public opinion, gets ostracized. Is that what you're implying? Cos it sure sounds like it.

I've been an ardent follower of this thread for seven years now but I only comment when it's absolutely necessary.

If you've been on this thread long enough you would have realised that I'm not one to follow the band wagon mentality. Or maybe I'm overrating your cognitive and observative abilities. Do the number of likes you get make you feel validated? I'm sure they do.

Do have a nice day.

Eguavoen took the job knowing fully well that there's no margin for error..

Eguavoen is just the Ole Gunnar Solksjaer version of Rohr since he talks a good game and actually played some decent attacking football in the group stage of the AFCON...

Bitter truth is that both are outdated coaches..

Lol, bro I'm a big fan of tiki taka. I remember making a post early this year about how West African teams need to become more technical in our style of play so that we can at least catch up to the North Africans not just in style of play but also football development in general, but I also said that we need the right players to make this happen.

It's easier for a fragile player to become more physical than it is for a very physical player to become more technical. Quote me anywhere.

We did not win those three matches because we were technical, we won them because we were more aggressive than the other teams. The moment we lost that aggression and decided to relax, we lost when it mattered the most. That loss still dey pain me walai.

We have very few technical players in our squad. Cup competitions are more about results than style of play.

Bro, i have never seen a player as rough as Taribo west. West was extra extra rough. He makes tree cutter tackles..

But he was one of the most talented defender Nigeria ever had(after chukwu and Okechukwu). At Auxerre, he was literally impossible to get around. Never beaten one on one..

His tackle on Kanchelskis was horrific.. Dude was never the same player after that injury ...
