I am certain Russia would not use nuclear weapons but only if Russia itself is threatened. No one can win a nuclear war. Both Russia and the US has enough nuclear power to destroy the world 6 times over. So Russia will only use nuclear as a last resort if it's very existence is threatened.

Germany is the biggest customer of Russia in the whole of Europe as they rely heavily on Russia for gas supply. Russia has the EU by the balls and that's why Putin is confident enough to attack Ukraine.

Exactly. The EU leaders have to first put their citizens into consideration before Ukraine. Unfortunately, there's nothing they would gain by going to war with Russia over Ukraine but they have so much to lose by going to war with Russia over Ukraine. The kind of protests that would erupt in most of these countries in the event that gas supply is cut off from them and job losses and deaths starts to pile up. The governments would not be able to cope with it. I saw someone up there talking about Netherlands supplying EU gas. That fella doesn't know that the gas Netherlands has, is of a different specification from what Russia supplies, and cannot be used by most EU companies and households and as such, is useless to them.

Ukraine conducted a referendum and agreed to join NATO. The west have been busy, skillfully extending NATO borders deep into Eastern Europe since the fall of The Soviet union. They might even deploy missiles there, putting Russia in grave danger. Russia is a big power and should stop this. Putin is right to take concrete actions to stop this. The Syrian war lasted all the years it did, with the ousted president returning to power simply because Russia and China moved their warships into the region. Do not underestimate other world powers apart from US.

Even for conventional war, only Russia, China, and the US have the technology, wealth and population to be considered super powers. So when any of them talks do not act in a haste. India has population, but is poor and technological backward. France, UK, Netherlands, Etc, have technology and wealth, but lack the population to fight any world superpower. Thats why they alway attachee by force to the US. Nato or not, Russian and China coopration can wipe off the US, even though with Nuclear winter occurring in multiple locations around the world. North Korean techs will likely fail direction and come disturb us somewhere in Africa

Secondly and in a more serious note, modern history has shown that the super powers never go into direct war where they will fight each other, they only fight wars against smaller non nuclear states, and either stay clear or send rebel proxies whenever another super power is eating up a smaller state. So truly do not expect US to stop Russia invading Ukraine. They will only act with Rhetoric as the cost can be too high.

Nuclear weapons are deterrents, but no country would actually want to use it because that would mean the end.
