Nuclear weapons are deterrents, but no country would actually want to use it because that would mean the end. Nobody is going to attack Russia if she invades Ukraine. Write that down somewhere. It's not done. Russia has enough nuclear warheads to eradicate the whole of the western world. The same with America and her allies. Each block is well stocked with enough armament, so a nuclear war means total decimation of their people... No country with serious nuclear warheads and ballistic missiles is attacked.

This is because all it takes to end the world afterwards is one bad decision. All of them know this . This is why they recently signed an agreement to upheld the use of nuclear weapons as deterrent only... The worst the west can do is to arm Ukraine or set up proxy fronts to fight Russia as they did with the Taliban in Afghanistan. Then add killer sanctions.

Annual EU27 natural gas domestic production and imports (TWh) Chart in 2021 shows the demand for Russian gas have decreased from 41% to 38% in 2021. While Norway's production and export have risen to over 25%. Still other countries like Netherlands, Algeria and Libya can also be looked at.

Unfortunately as at today, the whole of Europe cannot boycott Russian gas as they do not have a ready alternative. Until they find other sources of energy, they would still be reliant on Russia for gas.

They have alternative markets. Just a day to opening of the winter Olympics, China reassured Putin it's readiness to serve as alternative market should Europe boycotts happened.
