Covert1:nobody is blinded by patriotism.. We are fully aware of the short comings of the SANDF... Which thankfully unlike other countries I shan't mentioned is funding related and not doctrine related... The problem is your sheer obsession and jealously wrt SA and the need to highlight all that is negative about the SANDF which 1 isn't uncommon in 1ste world militaries and 2 at least we have excellent transparency and we are able to see every single problem inflicting our military ,if we wanted to we could've inundated this thread with negative news and stories about the NDF on a daily basis, but we choose not to but rather focus on the positives.... Now get over your obsession and focus on your own military ![]() 6 Likes |

jl115: Someone has been let out of the pen. Last I checked this is an African military thread. It is somewhat convenient for you and your ilk to sing hullabaloo when all evidence points to the contrary, this platform therefore becomes veritable to not only disprove but fact check. I have no obsession whatsoever other than objective discourse for the good of Africa. Jealousy is a stretch because Nigeria is the only real hegemon in Africa therefore South Africa does not exist in mind as any more than an important African country we need to do well. Instead of dissipating your energy arguing blindly use it to agitate for the SANDF to be restored to a fighting machine rather than cheerleaders at every national show deceiving and being deceived. Funding is not an excuse. We have heard that diatribe for too long. It all boils down to inept command leadership from the start. You went shopping for shiny toys you couldn't maintain against the advice of all and sundry both in Africa and beyond telling you South Africa has no external threat whatsoever from any country after Apartheid. Even your own intelligentsia in South Africa concurs with my submissions. Until you tell yourselves the truth you will only exist on paper. How can you even still argue with a straight face and no shame. You have only 3 hawks, 4 AHs and 1 warship right now to defend South Africa and you are still here ranting. You think we expected you to deploy anything reasonable in Mozambique, no! We knew you can't deploy what you don't have. The Brass would have told Ramaphosa doing so means no AHs or fast jets even if subsonic to defend the land in an emergency. The 3 hawks you flew at your State of the Union are the only air air-worthy fighter aircrafts you have, what a shame for a once proud force and you think it makes anyone happy. While national pride makes everyone want to be the best we in Nigeria acknowledge our potential and natural rights of leadership in Africa but we need partners and in Africa countries like yours need to step up their game to face common threats. 6 Likes 1 Share |

So you are going to pretend not to see the intentional diss of SA military in those posts? c'mon now. People living in a country on the brink of collapse shouldn't be pointing fingers and dissing others. Nigeria has its own problems, better you guys utilize your time and focus on that, instead of these childish, nonsensical posts about SA. MAN1960ii: 6 Likes |

MAN1960ii: The entire vehicle is a command / recce vehicle so that must be an advanced camera. There is a dish visible and antennae. The NA also launched some comms vehicles recently with satellite dishes so this must be an adaptation of that concept |

Lurker4Long: Am sure you didn't notice the "LEVEL D" in the post. We have level A - D. Eurocopter Southern Africa (Esal), the South African subsidiary of the giant European helicopter group Eurocopter, unveiled last week what it believes to be the first full flight helicopter simulator in Africa. It is certainly Eurocopter’s first simulator in Africa. It was originally commissioned in Switzerland, in 1993, and was acquired second hand from the Swiss Air Force, being a simulator for the Eurocopter AS332 Super Puma. It is a full motion simulator with 6º of freedom, allowing it to completely reproduce the real life motions of a Super Puma, and it gives the aircrew a field of view of 200º by 60º. I think the difference between the two flight simulators is that yours is the oldest level and the other is the latest. 1993 to 2022 is about 30 years. 2 Likes |

iblawi:Can you explain to me the different levels? Like what does level A mean and so on? Secondly, can you then tell me the level of the ESAL simulator in SA? Lastly, do you think something commissioned in 1993 stays the same? How would it work exactly for a pilot flying today's Super Puma, to use a simulator with 1993 cockpit controls? Does that even make sense? I think that everybody -military and private - using ESAL simulators should immediately demand refunds from those rascals at Airbus Helicopters. ![]() 5 Likes |

"South African National Defence Force AMET (Air Medical Team) deployed in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, evacuated members of FARDC (Congo Soldier) who were injured by an Improvised Explosive Device. The incident occurred at Ituri Province, in a village called Tchabi. Congolese soldiers were busy with their daily task of protecting civilians from Illegal Armed Groups and incidentally stepped on the IED. Swift response by this medical personnel and the Oryx crew to save the lives of friendly force was the decider of life and death. All the injured soldiers of FARDC were stabilized and evacuated to level 3 Hospital at Goma. FARDC Commander expressed gratitude to the whole team that assisted his members with medical care and air transportation." 5 Likes

kikuyu1: Yes true but what about the ammo ? A soldier can carry only so much isn't it ? Personally i would choose type depending on the combat situation I am going into If it involves running around chasing tangos wearing BPJs I will take 7.62 x 39 Chasing tangos without BPJs I will go with 5.56 nato If missions requires me to do minimal movements I will take 7.62 nato , great for defence ( and attack too provided constant resupply is guaranteed till last mile ) 2 Likes |
