Give me a duplex in ikoyi and pay me ten million a month, i still won't stay.

I won't stay in any area I won't interact and associate healthily with people and enjoy some humanity of life.

Thank you for saying this, seven blessings to you in particular for the bolded.

There's a reason I often ignore threads like these because when you share your own truth and reality, bad belle people and haters will still attack, drag you and claim you are lying.

I live between Chevron and VGC, in an area with 24/7 power and water supply. The water is so clean you can cook with it and even drink straight from the tap (I have on two occasions where I ran out of Cway and couldn't replace immediately because of work and traffic)

The estate has an efficient refuse disposal system, the grounds/lawns are well kept and clean. In fact the entire place is managed so excellently, that the Nigerian govt with its numerous agencies can learn a lot from, on how to effectively and efficiently manage a parastatal to make things happen and work. I am not even being funny or exaggerating about this!

When the estate management did a residents survey for feedback on their services/performance, I didn't hold back from rating them high and informing them of all the things they continuously do right which I genuinely appreciate. I was that impressed and continue to be.

The estate is one of the best kept secrets off Lekki-Epe expressway, you can drive pass it several times and never know there's a cool residential area there. Some Uber drivers who have dropped me at home are often shocked and pleased with what they see. They first go.....WoW I didn't know there was an estate here and then they marvel at the serenity and scenic beauty of it, as we drive farther in.

One even said kai madam you are living well o, see peace and quiet. For where I dey live na early morning noise dey wake me up, you go dey hear Ojuelegba, Ojuelegba, ketu-mile2, ketu-mile 2, etc from bus conductors. He made me laugh.

Now that the national grid has collapsed, our power supply hasn't even been interrupted. 5 years here and I am still counting, when I think of moving out my mind goes......where will you go to and find 24 hours light, clean water and a very neat neighbourhood like this? Just sit your butt down abeg and don't stress us.

EXACTLY!

Personal satisfaction and peace of mind!

I've lived on both sides... the mainland, and the island.

I've had my fair share of "affordable" apartments so I can save more.
Headache! Always having to move within a year.

I prefer my life now, as far as living in Lagos is concerned.

Let other people choose their own, and face front.

Total package put together = 750-800k for room self. Rent alone 590k.

Okay. That's the range I know, too.

Could be less depending on the quality of the house.

The fact is that some people living on the island believes they have arrived once they relocate to island. You will hear something like “I don’t cross the bridge “,as if those people staying in mainland are underdogs, whereas most island landlords resides in mainland .

Lol. Overinterpretation, if you ask me.

They say they don't cross the bridge. Maybe crossing the bridge used to be a personal trauma for them.

Why do people on the mainland have to feel affronted by another person's personal reality?

Hahaha. Those estates are majorly home ownership schemes and not rental estates most of the times, from immediately after North West Petrol Station stretching towards Chevron, they're a number of them. Wit 24 hours power supply, steady

Virtually there is no place in Lagos that is not flooded during raining season. What you should be looking out for is if the the social infrastructure is Atleast above average and value for money.

Not all places are flooded.

The flood in that area is upto knee level.

Why don't you experiment before you take the leap. Visit LBS and then Visit EPE. See things for yourself first hand

I reiterate Epe is not a place to stay for the young generation. It's an extremely bad decision for young ones to stay there.

Now don't laugh this off. This is a rather serious comparison as it's my first time in Lagos and as such my first time on the Island.

According to the topic, I will like readers especially those who reside in Lagos to share their opinions as to which of these major residential areas in Lagos is actually more value for money.

I've lived in the Ajah axis of Lagos Island for about 7 months and I can confidently tell you that I will not advise any newcomer to pay rent to live here. Electricity is bad, water is terrible, roads are bad too and for those who commute the Lekki-Epe express road daily know how hellish it can be when there is a surge in traffic.

Tbh, most people living on the island are suffering and smiling, even those who you think are well to do are having it worse.

I'm considering moving away from the Island and finding a serene environment on the mainland to live in. I heard that Magodo/Berger area is true, please how true is this? I will like readers who reside in Lagos to share their thoughts on other serene environments one can live in where one can get good basic amenities. This will definitely help other people as well. Thanks.

The light is stable

My monthly salary can pay my house rent like ten times. Unlike Ajah where six months salary will be used in financing house rent where one would be contributing to the ladnlord's development at the expense of one's personal growth and development.

In Ajah/Lekki axis, the annual rent feee is many people's 6-12 months slary, so they can't save. It's hand to mouth always. So instead of stay 2M per annum, i'm on a low-key on the mainland at 200k per annum setting up multiple businesses every month, next year, cash out big time.

Food is super. I buy six raps of semo and eight meats for 1200 Naira. You can't buy this at Ajah at this price. I always add yoghurt/Milk/Malt to make it 2k per meal. Bro, i'm living the yankee life in Berger..

Yes, and i change my soup daily. I can change up to as much as six different soups. More so, i'm known. Some time i could be in a hurry maybe i'm headed somewhere, without cash, i can take up to 2k food..

I have piexpress for my mid day snacks

When i want to change dollar, i dash into the bank call my aobki, less than 45 -60 minutes i;m done

Men, i'm in NewYork City in Berger

No issues at all

Ajah vs berger, which one cost pass?

Don't mislead people, berger is very cool but the rent in berger is on same pal with ajah if not more self... Berger rent is expensive and where you see 200k for mini in berger? Except alagbole, ajuwon axis Sha...

Proper berger is not possible.. You will need at least 400k to 500k to see a standard mini.

Other things you said are correct..

I be ojodu boy and I have lived here almost all my life..

Berger land is now worth more than 35m cos no free space self buy old houses... within streets, while road can be high as 50m

Yes I agree.

I actually meant that rather than me staying in a 2bed on the island CAUSE TO KEEP UP WITH THE STANDARDS ON THE ISLAND, THE MINIMUM HAS TO BE MINI FLAT OR 2 BED.

Now, those expectations levels do not exist for me on the mainland, hence I chose something around 200-300k per annum cause I don't have expectations to live up to.. It's not invariably comparing 2 bed island versu 2 bed berger. Why? Most of mini flat along the entire lekki express before Agungi is inhabitable and thrash to me, so this forces expectations to rise to 2 bed minimum, whereas I am not forced to make such decision on the mainland.

I just didnt expicity see the need to go more indepth with the logic behind my choices

All the room self, mini flat before Agungi are all shantis to me. I no fit cope lie lie. The cool ones are from Ikate Elegushi, Osapa London, Agungi and it costs 800k per annum, and i won't fvck out 800k per annum for a room self. I rather rent a poultry at Ogbomosho rear birds, sty in my poultry, get good value for my money, get productive and make money

Holdup after Ajah, through LBS is horrible whereas cheap houses are available in some axis there.
