post=117226671: Assuming the person that called you, called with a valid registed number, it would have been easy to track........... since it is an unknown number, it might be difficult to trace, but not withstanding, nothing is impossible Use this code when an unknown number calls you next time *69 or *57 it will show the number on your mobile 1 Like |

The reason why the bank is not stepping up their game to tackle fraud related to financial institution is because they are not the one taking the loss and blame. If we can took a step like the united state, any fraud that happens on your account without your involvement once you file for dispute your money will be refunded. If we can take a bold step like united state, then the bank will step up their game and tackle fraud related issues.. Our security system is very weak. If anyone can engaged me with any financial institution online, I will point out the weakness of some Nigeria bank that need to be address as soon as possible before further damage occur. Lastly the bank security need to have educated guys who are from the street to give them update on any loopholes on any bank to avoid damage. People registering bvn has some loopholes People opening account has some loopholes If we can tackle this 2 first, then we can minimize fraud related issue. Lastly the bank has to be responsible for any fraud done on bank account. 3 Likes |

Nigeria is not yet ready for automated card transactions. I don't have one. As a matter of fact, I don't do internet banking. 3 Likes |

You gave out a code; OTP, hence the fraudster had access to your account. You probably didn't state that in your report. However, the other statement where you stated that the unauthorized transactions occurred six days after you requested for an ATM Card can be raised as suspicious and needs to be investigated. Furthermore, you should know by now that no bank official will request for your personal details. This is a fraudster's scheme which you should have avoided. Moreover, the other bank accounts was opened with your details which means that the fraudster had all your details. This will be a very long and tiring case to investigate considering the forensic department will have to take a critical look into the onboarding process of the recipient accounts. Unfortunately but true, GTB or any financial institution will never refund in this type of fraud. 3 Likes |

My brother something similar to this had happened to me last year 22nd of February.. My first question is did you have any sportybet account... If Yes..that means is the same thing with mine .. Back then I opened sportybet account funded it with my ATM card some weeks later I got a text from someone saying I just got a voucher for hacked game on my account that I should login to a website to activate it.. Me being new to the app.. I followed all his instructions humbly,, I got a 6digit pin from sportybet and I sent it to him .. Unknownly to me that my sportybet bet account had been compromised.. The guy withdraw all my money and used it to play games on the account so that he could be able to transfer it to his opay account without no traces.. He change his opay account name to the name I used to register the sportybet account for successful transaction.. I did not receive any debit alert from first Bank immidiately I noticed I called the customer care of the Bank they were so useless they said the transaction was on pending.. I felt a little bit relax..okay cancel the transaction and give me my money back I went to their Bank several times without no number still today I never see anything... I blocked the sportybet account and the Bank account that was my last Time playing bet 7 Likes 1 Share |

There is something sinister going on with these banks Robbers! They deducted 200 naira from a tranfer I made. From the other account o. You may think it's small, if they do it for thousands of customers calculate the amount. They also deducted about 40,000 from a corporate account I operate. Just imagine! Let that stupid zenith bank open tomorrow I will give them enough fire bastards. Animals. Robbers! Idiots. Let me just enter bank tomorrow. Nonsense 1 Like |

As a banker (not GTB) I can 90% state this IS NOT a case of hearing an automated number. The story no add up abeg. Even hackers from Russia , America and North Korea cannot hack your account by you simply picking up a call 5 Likes |

tylerboy1501: Unfortunately, banks or any financial institution are somewhat powerless to stop some type of fraud scheme. That's why they sensitize customers/clients on how to protect their accounts. USA has an advance technology that can readily assist in the recovery of fraud proceeds; that's why US banks refund the stolen funds first and then investigate for funds recovery. In Nigeria, we have not gotten to a quicker fraud recovery stage. Additionally, the number of fraud occuring in the financial world is so overwhelming to the fraud analyst to track and react appropriately. I'll advise that every guides his/her accounts jealousy, the percentage of fraud in Nigeria is on the rise, we need to collectively work to safeguard our account. Thanks 2 Likes |

OP everything you stated here was exactly what happen to me on the 1st of August 2021. There was no difference at all. Same Sportybet debited my 170k later transfer it to palmpay. How mine happen: It was on a Sunday morning I was in Church praising my God when I receive the first 5k debit. I was still going thru the debit wondering when I make withdrawal, Boom another 50k debit entered. Rush out to block my account network could not allow me. Withing 10minutes, 170k is gone. Funny enough my ATM card was at home and I didn't make any transaction with it recently. I called Sportybet customer service same day, everything they told you is what they told me too. I don't play bet. My bank is Zenith bank. I went on Monday to complain, they told me to go get police order so that they can track the account that is a third party account. Na so I take let go of the money cause police extortion no be here. I may even end up spending more. I believe is am insider that's doing all that. 4 Likes |

tylerboy1501: I have stated earlier, no banks will called you and demand for a code / OTP. The moment you give that out, you account is compromised. If there's a call requesting for any code, simply end the call and call your bank to place your account on PND. After that, walk up to the bank and report officially and you will be guided on the safety measures on your account. 1 Like |

Sorry for the lose, but I strongly believe your story is short circuit. I put it to you that when that strange number called you, you reviewed some confidential details about your CARD if only you can be sincere to yourself... So please accept the lose and stop putting it on someone else although this a huge some of money for someone to lose out to all this lazy SCAMMER'S. Just a bitter TRUTH |

What I think with this scenario is that the scammers opened the Palm Pay, Polaris account etc. using the OP's names; this is totally unacceptable breach of trust by the banks (Palm Pay and Polaris bank) if the presented details are true. How did they verify the account to immediately start receiving credit without the required done (BVN/NIN to confirm the authenticity of the person etc.). Anyway, I might be wrong but what do I know sef |
