Lol Japanese people love their early Korean dramas. Every time I see a poll where Japanese people have to choose favorite dramas of all time, winter sonata is always no 1 cos I think that was the first drama that was highly promoted in Japan and birthing the hallyu wave ish. Even till today Choi ji woo is still no 1 best actress to them even though she hasn't done anything serious in years and her merchandise still sells like crazy. Random post : so when I started cheer up!, I knew it was a drama about cheerleaders and my image of cheerleaders are what I've seen from Hollywood movies. Crop tops, short short skirts, pompoms, cute/seckshi dance routines, backflips and somersaults etc... Imagine my surprise when I saw that the cheerleaders in cheer up were nothing like that lol. First off they're wearing these weird a** cringe costumes that look like outfits of court jesters in a Shakespeare novel and they chant and they do the same repeated hand movements over and over again in the name of choreography. It's definitely weird but it was so different and unexpected that I actually warmed up to it and I enjoy it. Honestly I thought it was just made up for the drama only for me to see that that's how cheerleaders in Korean colleges actually dress and cheer lmao I was surprised. Thanks to some of the college aged influencers I stalk on Instagram I got to learn that those weird outfits and stuff are actually real and normal. So thanks to cheer up! I guess cos I never would have known
