You are an engineer, so i expect you to know how long 752km is in reality.

The railway has 61 bridges built for it. That is no small feat.

The Blue rail is not even a heavy guage rail. The Ethiopian rail is. The Blue rail is not even electric.
The Ethiopian rail is.

The raft foundation you talk about starts from Orile to Marina. That is a 10km distance or so. Max is 15 km

And nowhere did i say the rail was not existing

You also need raft foundation in the trade fair axis. We had a project in 2015 and we were pumping out water wella. We could not even deploy a soakaway.

Without an actual breakdown of cost, we will be going in circles. How much do you think it would cost to replace an entire 33kv circuit from mazamaza to Badagry?

How much do you think it will cost to build a new pipeline for nnpc?

They had to build one and tie it into the line at abule ado

At 3rd gate they had to clear out a massive rubbish dump. Once you have a rubbish dump anywhere, you will sandfill the place wella

We simply don't have enough info

Is there any rail at Tradefair and Maza maza?

We are talking about the rail that starts from Mile 2 to Marina?

So which raft foundation was built at Trade fair and Alakija?
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by chrisooblog: 11:12am On Jan 06, 2023
So it's cheaper to build in a swampy area like the Niger-Delta than in Northern areas like say Benue or Taraba?

Please go ahead waiting for your gotcha moment.

If i prove to you that this is wrong, i hope you won't say i misconstrued your point again

I beleive there is a rail line passing from maza maza to trade fair. Though it is not on a bridge.

Cross the express and you will pass it

The entire project is a ten lane road with 2 lanes dedicated to rail.

You said this.

Thank you for expanding on my point. That's why it's cheaper and easier for example to build roads in the northern part of Nigeria than the South because of issues around soil texture and terrain.

Maybe i should ask you if only Niger Delta is in the South

I always knew Engineer Abimbola Akinajo, the LAMATA Managing Director was a liar. I was just waiting for proof.

Thank you for clearing my doubts. World Bank truly funded the rail by accessing the coffers of the LASG

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2022/12/22/history-as-sanwo-olu-completes-infrastructure-work-on-lagos-blue-rail-line/amp/

The project started out as a world Bank funded project. That much I am sure of. The world Bank released at least one tranche of funding. I knew several different people attached to supervision of the project. I even have some of their drawings . It was also originally awarded to four vendors. But from 2015,the project went on hiatus and when they restarted the parameters had changed.

So the 10X cost of raft foundation wouldn't apply here, would it?

It is definitely easier to build roads up north. Once you have a waterlogged area, you are better off with paving stones. That sounds straight forward until you realise you need a stone/quarry dust base first. So where up north you just do some quick compaction, throw in some laterite and then pour asphalt and be done sharp sharp, you have to do much more in the south if you arr building a road to last

And i can bring proof that it is not. It is almost the same estimate, in comparison with the distance.

I have not argued that it isnt easier

The blue line is electric and the blue line project is for phase 1 and phase 2. What has been completed is phase 1, phase 2 will start when Buhari commission the phase 1.

I'm still waiting for your analysis to prove how it's cheaper and easier to build in the South than the North.

Please make sure to include the different terrains and not just select a few because you want to win an argument.

Note not just South-South but South East and South West as well.

Same thing really

Up north
Small compaction, then drop laterite, more compaction, pour asphalt and you're done

Down south -
That quarry dust on its own, is expensive

Then the paving stones are also expensive. Because they are not the ones you use in your house. Km for km a paving stone road will cost more than a tarred road

And you have to do a lot of disposal of soil and maybe even some sandfilling.

That is what the World Bank funded.

Now you are going about, dropping specific terrains...Not good, sir

You said roads are cheaper to build in the North than South. What you should look out for it the cost of a road in the North, in relation to that of a South.

Chief so you're saying if you're building 100km for instance you will pay the same amount in the South like the North even when you have pre-existing issues to resolve with the road in the southern region?

There are examples on the internet of roads up north that cost about the same with that in the south.

I am not saying. The people that approved the budget and constructed it said so

It is you who thinks it should be cheaper. Our contractors don't believe so

July 2014

He directed Julius Berger to complete rehabilitation of Apapa/Oshodi Expressway in the next eight weeks, adding that the company should take remedial works into consideration. He said that a rigid pavement would be used in the reconstruction of this road, so it can take more load capacity.

The reconstruction and expansion of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway road will involve expanding it from four to 10 lanes as planned in 2009. Construction works involve setting up a light rail line and a Bus Rapid Transit corridor, and this will improve tourism and economic activities.

There were multiple renders and billboards of the project back then. They all included the trains on the rail line

Fire engines, to secure lives, rail transport from Okokomaiko to Marina, with four stations of eight kilometres completed, and work heading to Marina, with piles appearing near the Eko Bridge every day are the places your Government is spending money. The expansion of the Lagos Badagry Expressway to a 10-lane highway is another place where your Government is spending money.

https://businessday.ng/business-economy/article/200m-world-bank-loan-is-for-execution-of-lagos-light-rail-project-lai-mohammed/

Nigeria’s minister of information, culture and tourism, Lai Mohammed, said on Thursday that the $200 million World Bank loan recently approved by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) for Lagos State was to enable the state government complete the long delayed Lagos light rail (blue line) project running on the Lagos-Badagry corridor.

Former Governor Babatunde Fashola, the current minister of power, works and housing, in 2008, initiated the rail line, but work started in 2009, projected to be completed in 2011. But the project suffered delays as the government kept shifting the completion dates from 2011 to 2012, to 2014, until it left office in 2015, blaming the failure to deliver the project on paucity of funds.

But speaking during a courtesy call on Governor Akinwunmi Ambode at the Lagos House, Ikeja, on Thursday, Mohammed said the loan would help Lagos complete the project.

“Only recently we passed in the Federal Executive Council, a $200 million loan application for Lagos State to complete the blue line rail. This is a project that had been stalled for political reasons and Governor Ambode is pushing it,” the minister said.
