Baba, nothing will come out of that election case. I had a discussion with one of my oga's recently and he said Supreme court justices after listening to the facts of the case, they also consider other factors like political stability of the country and the general atmosphere when writing their judgement. If this was not the case, the 2007 election that brought Yar Adua to power would've been nullified simply on the facts of that case.

I found the whole thing head scratching , but it is what it is. look at Imo State election case, the justices obviously didn't weigh much on factors like political stability of the state when declaring Hope Uzodinma governor elect and see what has happened. You will be surprised how the supreme court justices will brush aside this Electoral guideline by INEC like it doesn't really matter.

Read this article below, u will get a better understanding of why most people do not actually have much hope in the whole court process

Thanks for the analysis. I also think that you are right based on antecedents.

However, I am not one that does things because of what others have done and I believe Peter Obi has a similar mentality. Will the Supreme Court justices also consider what precedence would be set if they violate their own laws and INECs guidelines? How do they answer to the Obidient movement on a case that is justifiable?

They should give sound judgement and declare PO winner. The least they could do is to cancel the elections. Any other decision will set the nation on fire.

This is 2023 not 2007.

I doubt the nation will be set on fire . There might be pocket of violence , but the military will quell it like they’ve done in the history of electoral violence in this past.

Please take ur mind off violence ; Nigeria is not a country worth dying for .

Lmaoooooo I think you underestimate the anger of Nigerians.

There's a reason Obi has been asked to calm people down.
APC wey win sef never know peace.

The man is following the law to the end so that when they deliver judgment like 2007 with such reasons we will decide which is greater.. The will of the apc or the will of LP and by extension most Nigerians.

You think apc has more supporters than the number of Nigerians that are angry?

15 million nigerians did not vote for PO in the election
the country has at least 150 million nigerians

an echo chamber does not constitute a majority no matter how loud it is.

this is why i support western style counter protesting in this matter

two can play that game, if it comes to it.

Nothing is going to come out of the case because that particular section they are quoted gives INEC the sole right to determine the way they want to collate and transmit result.

Here the screenshot of the Electoral Act section 60 that talks about the collation and transmission of result.

PO needs to keep his base fired for the next 4 years. that is what this really is about.
unfortunately for him, i cannot see this momentum lasting beyond another two months. Trump was able to keep liberals fired up through his term because his idea of governing was politicking all the time and playing the triggering wrestlemania uber villain and owning the libs.

Tinubu got no time for that.

I don’t think they’ve gone to court solely on transmission of results . I do not have the full details of the basis upon which the Labour Party lawayers are challenging the results , but I know it will certainly not be premised on electronic transmission of results only .

With time we will know the full details of it.

Thanks.

It's not my violence, but no matter what the military does, lives will be lost. What if it leads to a revolution and /or anarchy? We are dealing with humans not animals.

That leads to say, that the decision of the SC may impede future Electoral reforms, and may weaken further our democracy. As anybody can be president if they are able to rig. Just as you have mentioned 2007, future generations will mention 2023.

This should stop, and I want to believe (I actually have doubts) that the SC justices will do the right things.

Then I guess the poster they put up is misleading that he constructed and completed it in 100 days in office.

My initial guess was that if he did all that in 100 days , then maybe the road is a small one and not a long stretch of road that would’ve taken several months to complete

Just to do the structural analysis of the road, get contractors to bid for the road, approve funds for the road and work to start will take most likely 6 months.

That one na lamba.

PO says they are challenging the process, most times these lawyers give their own interpretation of what is inside a act when the act is clear and straight forward, that's when you will see them quoting several other sections of the act to boost the other one.

If the election is done 10 times, PO will lose 10 times.

Who disenfranchised the majority that didn't vote? It's the same INEC under the APC government. There's no one else to blame. But that's not even the issue. You are looking at the 15m who didn't vote for PO but ignore that less than 10people in INEC decided this election outcome.

The issue is that there was an election which was supposed to produced a winner under free, fair and credible conditions.

If those conditions were not met, it does not matter who emerges, the results cannot hold.

Even if only two people voted, let the results be credible.

I don't care who eventually wins, but let the the people decide not a few individuals in INEC.

INEC had the sole right and determined it in their electoral guideline that I quoted.

In fact it stated that there will be electronic transmission of results on real time basis. Please check again.

INEC cannot put forth a guideline for election and still go against it. In fact there is a court judgement that have ordered INEC to transmit the forth coming elections electronically.

Does challenging the process literally translate to challenging Electronic transmission of result only ? Is electronic transmission the only thing involved in the process ?

If the provision of acts are clear as u claim and lawyers do not need to quote several other sections to back boost the other one; do u think lawyers will have jobs ? Do u think there will be need to even go to court over any matter since the position of the law is always clear ?
