larride:Lagos is owing Pension and Gratuity of retirees, don't even argue this one cos na my field be that. Primary School, Secondary and Local Government and Mainstream retirees are been owed years of pension, Lagos State just started paying 2020 retired junior staff of Primary Schools on grade level 1 to 7. The money Tinubu and other former Governors collected as bogus pension parkage would have cleared all backlog on Pension in Lagos and also build some basic infrastructures too, no be everything be agenda for here.... 1 Like |

larride: What about ensuring that doctors are paid proper allowances, have adequate equipment, and have much better work conditions. The people will benefit this way. Trying to force them to stay back will ultimately not benefit anyone. 1 Like 1 Share |

liveLongNprospa: 150 hours a week.! This one na rare cases. Most doctors d leave their post for government hospital to attend to one or two hustle outside. Furthermore, government hospital do shift. All most all the government hospital wei I don go for Kaduna. The doctors d do shifting. |
Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by Amigoss: 12:43pm On Apr 08, 2023 |
We don't want angry and unhappy doctors here sha, don't force people against their own will. Nigeria lawmakers can import good doctors from other countries who will be ok with Nigeria's pay and working conditions. It is just like Ferguson refusing Ronaldo to go to Real madrid then at his prime because he poached him when he was just a young prospect and enjoyed man united facilities to become a ballon d'Or winner and when it was time Ronaldo felt he could get something better elsewhere,he says NO and not yet and relegated him to U-21 when he handed in a transfer request. |

monerozi5590: Lmao.. Have you stayed in the government hospital for 1 month straight to observe the working schedule or you are making this assessment from your little time there. Do you know that doctors sometimes have to work in multiple places? |

monerozi5590:You see the issue we have. They are not rare cases. Did you see the call schedule of that house officer posted some pages back? That is normal for a lot of us. If the remuneration is right and working conditions are normal, you think anybody will be working two stressful jobs? |

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by liveLongNprospa(m): 12:48pm On Apr 08, 2023 |
Personally I am not shifting ground on what doctors should earn. If you are not going to crash the salaries of our lawmakers to 600k then make all of us dey. The country needs to start paying and also investing in the health sector.. Right now, you either pay well or at the very least ensure that hospitals have proper equipments. The money stolen in this country as a whole before you bring it to state level will sort alot of these things. I know say nor be the poor man fault.. I absolutely understand that but them Don use am take arm twist doctors for too long. Lmao and we dey talk doctors meanwhile the one I dey really fear na the nurses... Those ones dey pack themselves commotπππ |

Unlimited22: Government Hospitals. Some won't even attend to you once their time is up. You have to wait for the next Doctor. Do the numbers, 150 hours a week! Is rare for government hospitals |

Unlimited22:Meanwhile the bill is being proposed by kleptomaniacs eating phat...through phantom salaries...and also travelling abroad to get a better medical care, whilst they trap our unfortunate doctors here in their poor work environment and the pittance they are being paid. Let it start with "No public office holder should travel out of the country for medical cares".. then it will make sense. 2 Likes |

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by monerozi5590: 1:00pm On Apr 08, 2023 |
150 hours a week is 21 hours plus a day. For government hospitals, that number is rare. 1 Like |

Itsrm:You don't enslave people and call it a solution because that's essentially what this is. Even if you want to go this route, how about student loans and mandating the to pay back while practising from anywhere? What happened to increasing residency slots? Increasing healthcare budget while reducing all these yeye allowances and allowing the effect to trickle down? How many times will we say that this bill won't have the effect we want? Omo I think I've made my case enough. Make them pass the bill. Nigerians only learn the hard way. |

larride: Yeah, she has. I just asked her and she told me they actually contacted her that it was ready last December, but she wasn't in the country. That is still about 2.5yrs since retirement though. According to her it takes about 2 years to move up the waitlist so i suspect 2021 retirees are yet to be paid. Na turn by turn. Another thing is that Lagos State short-changed them. Their colleagues who retired in other states like Ogun, Oyo, Ondo e.t.c are getting far more. Something to do with one conversion they did some years back (around 2007) in the pension scheme. Several millions disappeared into the air for everybody when they moved over to contributory pension. |
