Of course, my suspicions have been confirmed.

Today, Arteta said Saka has been playing with a badly injured ankle and Achilles for a while now. Why does Arteta run Saka to death every season? I mean, I don't get it! Why can't we start someone else. Why does Arteta risk the future of this kid every season!

Sometime in early April, I knew Saka was playing injured but I could not figure out when it happened. I became even more worried when his form dropped, I knew something was going on. He became hesitant and unwilling to drive, shoot or chase back and it continued until the end of the season.
Over reliance on Saka definitely added to his drop towards the end of the season. I hope Arteta signs another RW because playing CL and PL at peak levels won't be easy.

I have not been posting here because I am still nursing my sivia pain cry

I read all the arguments and consolations here... had no energy to contribute because I am not yet comforted.

Some said we made Top 2 against all predictions, true! but I still find it difficult to erase the fact that we could have been No1 against all predictions too.

I read that we are not as good as City, True! But we didn't lose the league because of our losses to City. We lost the league because we drew West Ham and Southampton when we should have won... lost to Brighton at home and a bottom team like Nott. Forest. If we didn't throw away those 10 points diff, we would have remained on top irrespective of City performances.

You all know I stan Arteta, but I don't know why I tend to agree with iamoyindamola that our coach is a first 11 manager. Cos I ask myself; would Mourinho or Klopp have lost the title if they are in charge of this present Arsenal Squad and achieve what we achieved before GW30?

Now, here is my bigger worry, yes we improved from last season and qualified for CL, but seeing the way we finished and collapsed under pressure this season... How many of us have the confidence we will perform better than this next season and even make any significant impart in CL? If Arteta doesn't 1st improve himself and tactics, even before getting more capable players; this season (disappointing as it is) might just be his best.

Only three players have ever won Premier League Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season at the same time:

Cristiano Ronaldo (2006-07)
Gareth Bale (2012-13)
Erling Haaland (2022-23)

Imagine that front three 😳

BTW, I am really very impressed with Roberto De Zerbi and his team Brighton.

I mean, for a team that was massively raided at the start of the season especially by Chelsea who also took away their manager, they even gave us one of their stars in Leandro Trossard mid season... yet beat Arsenal 3 nill at home and finishing Top 6, well ahead of Chelsea and Spurs...

Is he better than Arteta? I am trying to imagine what he would have achieved with the current Arsenal squad (They are both Apari Guardiola disciples)

Being a first eleven coach does not at all translate to not being able to win games or titles. As per your point in the bolded, Arteta did not miss out on the title because he is a first eleven coach.

Pep is also a first eleven coach and has won more PL titles than the other two that triped your mind.

I know you are just speculating, but last season, Pep used practically same set of players to hold on to a point lead for over 15games. He has the smallest first team squad in the league.

Had Arteta won the league as a first eleven coach, being first eleven coach would have been admirable to you guys especially Sod whom you mentioned and he would query any coach that is not a first eleven coach.

Heck!!! We were all disappointed, but it would be hypocrisy to say Arteta didn't try. Mark the word 'try'.

Big lie, if you are playing FPL you will know pep is a motherfvcker you can't trust with his line up
I can tag 5 nairalanders that have suffered from pep line up this season
He as benched top performer like kdb several times and still deliver, gealish, Ruben Dias etc
Can arteta bench saka and won't suffer?

Lol. You are a crazy fellow.

I bet you also thought Graham Porter was better than Arteta. Right?

Or I can equally wonder what Arteta could have achieved if given the Man City squad.

Some of us think that this Arsenal squad is better than those of Man United, or Liverpool, or Chelsea, or even Tottenham.

I remember when you wanted to die because Spurs signed Emerson Royale and we got Tomiyasu. You wanted to shoot yourself when Spurs signed Kulusevic and Bissouma ahead of us.

Lol.

You are such an insecure fellow.

Arteta managed the youngest and most inexperienced squad to finish second this season with over 80points that we haven't achieved for over a decade.

Listen boy, I am as disappointed as you that we 'bottled' the league. But I am not silly not to know that the manager and the boys did their best. Man City was just a huge beast to defeat like that. Ask Liverpool fans.

So it's FPL that you are using to judge? As in Fantasy PL.

Go and find out, Pep used the least number of players this season. Pep does not rotate, he uses the best currently available for him at any moment. Coaches who rotate are like Mourinho and Klopp as ObaIgwe rightly mentioned.

FYI, Arteta used more players than Pep. Go and verify before shouting upandan. 😁😁😁

Dortmund currently losing at home to Mainz while Bayern leading away to Koln.

What you guys don't get is the huge psychological pressure that overwhelms a team that has to usurp a reigning champion as the likes of Bayern.

I hope they don't bottle this one.

Only someone who doesn't watch football will say Arteta did not "try".

But my concerns are:
1. Is that "try" the best "try" we can get or could we have gotten a better "try" even with this squad if Arteta is better tactically?
2. Going forward, are we sure we will get a better "try" next season and in CL even with a better squad if Arteta does not improve?

I mean, even though we "bottled" the league to City, couldn't we have finished stronger? What happened that the team suddenly collapsed and we were losing 3-Nill at home and went to lose to Nott. Forest? Or was that a gift to help Nott remain in Premiership?

What I mean is that even though one or two costly mistakes could have cost us the league - It is excusable; as all managers including Pepp make wrong calculations sometimes... But these last two losses put a question mark on Arteta capability under intense pressure and give us not much confident going forward. Or is it a case of Arteta and the team given up being competitive after realizing City is ahead? In that case he should have used his 2nd 11.

Hello sir,

I can't tell you how much pain I was when we drew with Westham and lost to Brighton.
I can't tell you that we requelish the title to Mancity.
It it not about absolving Arteta.
But people have a learning curve.
U see when arteta said Auba was no longer going to play...I thought he was mad,
And then Lacazette too.
He is just 40 years.

I just choose to look at the positives.
One being that he has set a standard with second and will likely receive the sack if he doesn't win any trophy best season.
It is better to finish second than third.
For info, arteta is not really a first eleven coach.
It's more of changing tactics and having a plan B that is lacking.
No one is worshipping Arteta,
When GP was was taken by Chelsea....and then they spent 600M plays this season.
We all thought they will be at least competing for 4th position. Football has its own unpredictability.
Haaland came in was was scoring goals as freaks.
Between Saliva and Varane, most people would pick Varane but coming to end of the season, I will prefer the former.
He himself knows next season is a big one for him.
Arteta has shown his shortcomings but we had a good season.
We have to look to next season.

Your questions are the type of questions we should be asking instead. These are forward looking questions. And these are the questions I am asking myself.

I am not going to be anyone's advocate, but what I use to convince myself is the progress we have made. We have moved from 8th, to 5th and now 2nd. I don't think anyone would say the 'try' isn't there. At least for the benefit of the doubt.

Here's what Edu has to say...

Edu on if Arsenal ‘bottled’ the league title: “I think it needs a little more elaborate analysis. My role makes me need to understand the season as a whole. Maybe in these last five games, we had a drop in performance, what was sustaining us fighting for the title was really the consistency of performance. From the moment we had this drop in performance, we have to understand why. This is already well understood by us.”

Edu: “Saying that Arsenal ‘bottled’ is a word I wouldn’t use, we created our own frustration. Nobody expected us to fight for the title. Being frustrated for not having won the title is a change of mentality. In the past, we celebrated fourth place, third [place]. Today, we are frustrated with second [place].”

I understand your point of view... but let me explain the way I feel it more clearly....

2 seasons ago, which was Arteta 1st season in full charge... we started badly, we were even afraid we were going to battle against relegation because we were consistently going down in the 2nd halve of the table....then mid season came, Arteta got Odegard on loan, ESR also fully came on board and we started winning matches and finished in top 10.

Many were against Arteta after that season, but I supported him and believed in him...why? because he turned around an hopeless situation to an hopeful one. My argument was that if the 1st half of that season had gone like the 2nd half, we would have finished top 4. So I was hopeful that the following season which was last season we should finish at least Top 6. That optimism came to be and along the line we had the chance of finishing Top 4 but we lost it. I overlooked that because we didn't do too bad toward the end of last season. So I believe we will improve this season.

Then this season came, yes the target is Top 4 which many didn't believe we will make... but we started strongly and remained on top for most weeks and had a clear shot to win the league, but we lost the chance again.... Painful that is, it would have been easier to get over the pain and disappointment again but when you consider our late performances... it give me more reason to worry than hopeful of better future. It is okay to fail and able to look forward with confidence that there is a potential to do better, but it is disturbing when you fail at something and still doesn't feel the confidence that the future will be better.

For me it is better to start weak and finish stronger, it gives hope for future.... but to start strong and finish weak makes you doubt your ability for the future.

Let me put it more accurately, Arteta and the team moved from Top-10 to Top-6 (Good) and from Top-6 now to Top-2 (Very good). Our next aim should be to win it.... but judging from the way we are ending the season, how many of you are confident we can win it next season with Arteta or even retain the 2nd position? My point and worry exactly.

reading the comment of some of you here de just vex me, seriously!. so to some people "Arteta the rockie" who bravely took an arsenal job that other experienced coaches clearly and openly avoided is now clown abi. someone that played rubbish football in his first season just to manage and win the fa cup, then last season tried a diff kind of pattern and finally find a way to play beautiful football this season, just because we didn't win y'all are calling for his head. funny, we fvcked up yes, but that doesn't give any of you the right to question if arsenal would be great again considering the significant changes that even the blind can see happening in our club. sometime last season they even rated moyes ahead of teta, now na zeb. lol. i don't care how anyone hurts and heal about this epl season but one thing is for sure, y'all heavy and unnecessary criticism doesn't reflect on our season but shows the type of persons you are. can't wait to see more beautiful football next season.

something that liverpool have failed to do in two separate reasons even tho the have a ucl tested and trusted team. una think man city na beans?, show me any epl champions that have ever won their last 15 epl matches if not city, even who have ever won 10 straight last epl games?. na who never de under pressure to deliver a special job that others before him failed to deliver go insult arteta and this young arsenal team OVERLY MORE THAN THEY SHOULD. next season we go again thats what i know. and if you quote me with intention of getting an argue of debate, lol, then FVCK YOU from the bottom of my heart.
