It's only players on Neslon's level that will agree to deputizing for saka and make do with whatever little play time he will manage to see.

Even Trossard that is deputizing for Martinelli an equally elite player, if he doesn't see as much playtime as he expects will start looking for a way out of the club in the next year or two.

Most decent Wingers who look forward to playing for their national team will not risk coming to Arsenal to sit on the bench just to clap for him for the best part of the season.

There shouldn't be a direct substitute. It can be someone who can also deputise for another position. Havertz for example plays the inverted RW and also plays AM. So he can be a deputy for both Odegaard and Saka. He may even get a start at Xhaka's position depending on the team we are against.

But it's better than not playing at all. Besides a normal full squad has less than 25players so if two in the same position suffer injury or/and red card, someone has to cover up and that person must also be efficient.

I doubt its a case of Arteta being skeptical about Nelso, rather I think it's a case of Arteta not being a fan of rotating players. If u are good in ur position and continue to give him results, he will keep fielding u and ur deputy will suffer in silence on the bench.

Saka is such player that keeps doing all the right thing on the pitch, hence Nelson or whoever he buys to deputize Saka will continue to enjoy massive game time. If u notice, it was until Martinelli started dropping form before Arteta started giving Trossard more playing time.
