You have a shallow mindset.
Where is Obasanjo, Gowon and IBB living in your Abuja and Lagos? Don't they have thriving businesses outside their villages?
So many successful persons in the US lives in the rural part of the US and controls their business empires from there. In these days and age 60% of people in cities may not be successful because of the fierce competition there.
So strategizing from the comfort of the rural area can catapult you to height unimaginable.
A school mate from Cross River state relocated to his community to take charge of his father's palm plantation. Under two years he built houses here in PH and rented them out. Niggar is now exporting palm kernels shell to India.

You are just too dumb to be engaged. Was OBJ at Ota when he became head of state? Did he become head of state from his father's village? Leave all these stupid stories and reason with your brain. Retirement and seeking opportunities are two different ventures. I engaged that guy regarding opportunities, not retirement.

Even a sound toddler knows that location affects prospects. How would you tell someone to relocate to his village when he has greater chances of earning what is commensurate to his human value in Lagos city, New York, Port Harcourt, Johannesburg?

Go back and understand the points I made before jumping aimlessly on it.

My plan for village is huge ... Once I can reach certain mile stone, I desire to move into the village and not just the village but into the thick Forrest away from people, I will make sure all the things that I need are available and I will go into serious mechanized farming ... I will have a full plan for Fulani herdsmen I will dedicate a substantial budget to security via technology and I will be extremely ruthless with trespassing. I love solitude and nature and anything that takes me away from humanity, I tried it for a couple of years now and I realized, how much I love staying away from people and the village life will be best, a place where I can wake up in the morning and enjoy the pristine beauty of nature where I can gaze upon the hills and see the morning dew flow through the fingers of the trees. Where I can take a stroll into my farm and pluck fresh food that has no unnatural additives and take a momentary dip in the stream on my property. Wow I am almost moved to tears of joy as I type.... Life away from the monotonous rat race of struggling for money only to spend it on things that don't bring you any fulfilment beyond your desire to oppress your neighbor and be recognized in groups of people who are just as confused as you.

Relocating back to the village not really a failure but it depends on how you relocate and your living standard back in the village plus your relationship with the people you met in the village

Most Nigerians especially Igbos see the idea of moving back to their hometown as a defeat. If the City (for instance Lagos) becomes very difficult, I don't see anything wrong in relocating. There are people there afterall.

What are your thoughts on this?

Back in the days, there were no electricity nor commercial activities in the village. So relocating to the village was either for retirement or admission of giving up in life. But the story has changed. Good roads, electricity and commercial activities are present. Add possible free rent to the equation.

Many people still stay away because some unscrupulous pastors have convinced them that their uncle or aunt in the village is responsible for the fuel price hike. Every self-inflicted or government-inflicted injury is the fault of an innocent uncle/aunt in the village.

The hustle and bustle of PH city is killing me.

Let me indulge you for the last time. With a population of over two hundred million people and 60% of these people domiciled in the cities or wherever you call city in Nigeria, it would be difficult for the average Nigerian to make in these days and time. Competition is fierce, time is fast and short, opportunities are rare.
So it is advisable that any pragmatic man or woman consider the option of relocating to the village to start from there.
Here is an example; I have a young friend who did his NYSC at PH. While serving, he learnt graphic designs after service, the young man relocated to his village a rural part of Rivers state called Jonkarama in Ahoada West and sets up a computer and graphic design school and today that young man is a multi millionaire because the oil firms in his community contracted him to be doing their works for them.
Tell Mr city boy, if this young man were to remain in PH, how would he have succeeded in competing with the already established coperations and individuals in the city?

Meanwhile rich people in other climes relocate from the city to the country side- I.e village.

Maybe it's colonial mentality that is doing us.

This is FALSE. Just a few of them move down to their countryside because doing so means cutting one off from opportunities.

Most people in the village are even doing far better than those in Lagos, I guess the hype and respect the village people give a Lagos based folk is why it's like hell to go back and be mocked about going to lagos to count bridge and wasted your Life.

When we were kids I know of some families that retired to the village in old age after spending so many years in the city. Note not as a result of not making it in the city oo, but because they are old, and can no longer work in the city. they retire to their village and stay. The children can be coming to visit whenever. with heavy party oo sent forth. But hmm this day they rather die in the cities than to move to the village. My state then Edo state.. We grew up in the West.

In Nigeria, villages are mostly deprived and underdeveloped. No roads, no electricity and alot of diabolical beliefs, although urbanization has caught up to some. Villages used to be were family & friends unite after all the hustle & bustle in the city, but these days insecurity and increase in cultism has eroded the innocence & bond village life brings. In this day an era nobody wants to associate themselves with a backward/ hard way of life.
